Something others haven't mentioned that I have seen, the gen 2 lid does not fit the Ozark trail or GSI nesting cup, it is too big. I found a Coughlan's 21oz nesting cup that nests completely with the cook pot leaving no void space and the gen 2 lid fits perfectly. Also, the 40oz Klean Kanteen does nest in the cook pot. Just wanted to spread the word.

That is really great advice. I am going to look for one of those coughlin cups.

I've got the Ozark Trail SS $5 cup, and when I put the new Stanley pot into it, I didn't even realize at first that it wasn't going down all the way like it did for the old Stanley pot. But the difference isn't huge or a show-stopper for me, and I can always use the empty space in the bottom of the OT cup for small supplies, so it turns out to be a big nothing as far as I'm concerned.

Okay, its fine. What would help is for Stanley to let us understand their thinking in making these changes because the Adventure Two-Pot is almost perfect, especially for solo trips. The gap between the steel butterfly cup and the main pot is not too much of a problem. But this is not enough of a change to motivate me to replace my Stanley Adventure pot. With my current setup, I can put a fuel canisters upside down in the pot and one of the green plastic cups with enough space for a BRS3000, a mini Bic, and a small sponge. It all fits into an Optimus Clip-On Windshield. The Stanley lid fits on the steel cup giving you an extra cooking pot if needed. The plastic cup can also be replaced with an additional fuel canisters for longer trips. Wrap an elastic band around the pot to hold a spoon and you have an complete kitchen for breakfast, coffee, or dinner.

Looks like change for changes ' sake. I doubt I'd ever need the newer model as long as I've got my old ones.

I have the original Adventure set. I will be getting this new one. One thing I have yet to find is a good Stainless Steel Pot or Cup that will nest on the Kleen Kanteen Single Wall Stainless Wide Mouth 64oz Water Bottles. I have two 64oz bottles and two Maxpedition 12" x 5" large water bottle pouches. I just need a pot to nest on the 64oz bottle and fit in the Maxpedition Pouch. Ideally, to be able to fit two pots (top and bottom) over one water bottle and still fit it all in the pouch. Handles on the pot is not necessary but would be nice.

The cup with the pot inside can be used to make char cloth not that I would.

Really good suggestion . . . for people who like to make char cloth. Actually, making char cloth is a great skill to have if you are deep into the "apocalypse" and you have run out of materials for making "modern" firestarters.

The narrowing at the bottom makes no sense except it is designed to fit the cup. Design wise, a wider bottom not only is more stable, but diffuses heat better. The pathfinder pot or titanium pot that can nest a critical piece of equipment like the Grayl is better. However, my choice is a titanium pot nesting a fuel canister and stove plus a second dedicated coffee cup.
@CowboySurvival2 ай бұрын
@@bobinmontana777 your solution is a good one, that is for sure. The ONLY downside is the cost. On the other hand, you buy high quality titanium and it will last forever! I like the stoves with fuel canisters, but the fuel eventually runs out. I prefer natural fuel (wood), but that creates soot on the outside which requires a bag for the pot so that the soot doesn't get all over the inside of your pack. There is a trade-off to everything, I guess.

@@CowboySurvivalGetting out and having a good outdoor adventure is the main thing. Secondarily, for me, the purchase of more efficient tools used while engaging in activities becomes more satisfying and lighter weight, (as I get older this is a big plus). But with age comes wisdom, “buy once, cry once”, and as a plus you won’t have boxes of surplus unused equipment like me.

@@bobinmontana777 Your point is very well taken. on the "surplus" comment, I have to admit that I am not sure my wife is very appreciative of all the extra stuff I have accumulated. She keeps asking me how many Get Home Bags I actually NEED! LOL!

@@CowboySurvival No wife to question me, but I have loaded GHB’s everywhere with surplus water filters, stoves, ponchos, and other related equipment and enough paracord to create a ball that would attract tourists.
