This video just brought back even more memories: As 80’s kids we had Malibu Grand Prix & The Castle arcade to go kick it at. Or Bayfair skate rink. And of course Eastmont was live than a muhfuh back then. As crazy as the east was, times was good 👍🏾

Incredible journey mixed with top tier story telling. As a young black man born and raised in oakland in the 90's I often try to imagine what it would have been like born one generation before. This man painted an extremely vivid picture. His story reminds me of old hiphop songs the way they still held the old days fondly but understand at the end there's consequences and growth that must happen if you want to keep surviving

When you said gettin Plums and Loquats, you brought back a flood of memories. I grew up in 0-9 Playa hood back when OPD cars were tan and white. Wasn't active but was affiliated with the White Apartments. They beefed with Funktown and lost almost everytime but they had heart. Much respect was given to the Twomps and P-Dub.

Well I moved to 96 Ave when I was really young thank everyone in East Oakland that helped me go to school and get to work. Player Lee always supported me if I was selling bar b que, or music or candy. Thank you all. Sunny side people told me stories about Hot lips, on Sunny Side. I grew up rite between birch and cherry on 96th Ave, When I was little I was so hungry Art, Bug , Cory, Lou, they all would give me lunch money, I always pray and say thank you to God about that I moved to East Oakland from Tulare California and I really didn't have any family to help me so I always say thank you Jesus for Aunt B, Uncle Joe, and everyone.
