2 1/2 hours 80$per hour + 100$ for the cracked switch = you can buy a new one for sure if you need someone to fix it.

Hi, sure, but this video is more a demonstration for users who want to try to fix their own console if something like this happens to them. I need to buy them to demonstrate things. 😉

I used a small vice grip and clamped it hard enough to leave a dent on the top of shield above the CPU and it's been chugging along just fine since with some new thermal paste too
@CanWeFixThat8 ай бұрын
Hi! Interesting approach, but I guess the problem might reoccur over time and with temperature changes. 😕 Keep me posted! 🫶

The only proper repair would be to completely reball the SoC, which needs special gear. :-/

@@CanWeFixThat I tried applying pressure to no avail, what else might be the problem and is it possible I can fix it? I want to mod this switch

In my opinion it is best to remove and reball the apu for a blue screen (assuming you confirmed it is the apu)
@CanWeFixThat4 ай бұрын
I agree! But without special equipment for this particular purpose, it is nearly impossible to accomplish this job.

Hi Maria! I've never worked as a repairman - everything I know, I taught myself. My channel is all about sharing the solutions and ideas I've developed through hands-on experience. Maybe I'll take on the challenge of fixing viewers' devices in the future, which could be a fun addition! Just to be honest, though-fixing blue screen issues can be really tough, and often the solutions are only temporary. 😕

heating chip with bad BGA connection is a well-know method of fixing faulty GPUs with artifacts, but it's always temporary. you need to properly reball the chip, heated chips don't survive more than a year usually
@CanWeFixThat Жыл бұрын
Hi, sure, but even with a proper reball, you can't be sure it works for longer...
@ДарийФедореев-э7т Жыл бұрын
@@CanWeFixThat it depends of the cooling system, if BGA mounting was done right during repair and chip doesn't overheat, it will live just as long as any other chip. Not saying anything against you though. Reballing is a very tedious procedure that requires expensive machines, so it's not like you could do anything better. It's still cool that it does work and it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. I'm bored of all repair shops that only change components on ribbon cables without any soldering or diagnostics.
@CanWeFixThat Жыл бұрын
@user-xh3nm8oe2l I totally get it, and you are right. I realized afterward that the Switch was not getting any output via the dock. In the settings, it is just showing me the 480p setting. I am convinced that some connections underneath the BGA are getting me into trouble. 😉
@oliverhoschi613511 ай бұрын
In the case of the switch soc, my reflowed blue screen switch is working for over a year now without any problem. GPUs from PC´s are way way different. Most of the time, not the solder balls of the gpu fail. Between the GPU Core and the PCB is also a layer with very tiny connections. These are the ones that fail and they cannot be replaced, so even reballing will not work long on GPUs. In case of the switch, the solderballs breaked due to excessive force, if they are properly reconnected, the switch will work like normal for years. I now what you are trying to say, but these 2 types are completely different. If the Reflow is properly done (lots of flux), it will last nearly forever.
