Thank you for this. You are so articulate, and helpful in understanding some complex medical issues. One focus for me is be sure to be aware of individual differences, not to generalize and paint with too broad a brush. My family is riddled with heart disease and early death. Statins for us has maintained our health and helped extend life into the 80s and 90s. Having said that I believe you sharing your health and medical experience is a valuable contribution to overall understanding of how to be vigilant about signs, symptoms and get proper care! Another factor is I am wary of the quality of individual med providers. To be frank, some are not so good, so we must pay careful attention,strongly advocate for ourselves, and don’t hesitate to move to another provider if any doubt, even just a gut check. Thanks again for your help in life and health matters. I look forward to each video from you ❤😊

I am a firm believer in being your own best advocate for health and other matters. I brought the issue of statins to light because I suffered for so long with my achilles tendons and it was absolutely miserable for over a year. xxxx

Thank you for sharing this important information! I was a nurse for years and I really started studying some of these meds and their side effects and was appalled! To this day I am leery of all medications and the whole incompetent health care system! Do these Dr’s even really care because I can’t believe all he said was “ ouch” !
@TheNumber1LadiesClub-lf9yc2 күн бұрын
I have no idea why my GP didn't do more than say ouch but I'm so grateful to my friend Sarah's partner the doctor, because without him telling me about the statins I would have still been suffering! I think from here on in I shall always read the side effects first before popping any medication in my mouth just so that I know what to look out for xxx

P.S. Anyone with childhood trauma history should be assessed for he although of adrenals and cortisol. These are the. Stress hormones that are triggered by autonomic nervous system, any time threat, stress is present. For children in continuous stress, perceived threat environment, as you were, at risk for adrenal and cortisol deficiency. My mother had symptoms of schizophrenia, and paranoid personality disorder. My childhood nearly mirrors yours. I have a cyst on one adrenal that we are watching. No surprise. I’ll be reading your posts, as your memories and comments are a great comfort and source of inspiration for me.

I never realised that childhood trauma could cause problems with the adrenal glands. I'm so sorry my childhood mirrors yours. It can't have been good for you. x

@ thank you for your kind thoughts. Watching your videos is very enlightening, and I always seem to learn something 😊 I’m a mental health clinician and specialized in stress and trauma. Adrenal glands are source of adrenaline and cortisol, which are the stress hormones released when we sense danger. I have no doubt many of your health concerns are rooted in the daily distress you suffered. Doesn’t need to be an actual “tiger”, just the threat, anticipation, walking on glass, thinking the matron may cause you of some imagined infraction is enough to trigger stress hormones released into blood stream.

I avoid drs unless its an emergency. I question and research any drug that is offered. Im on no drugs 62 yrs. I suffered migraines for years and years and was told to go onto beta blockers. I refused and found out by a dowser that I was allergic to dairy. I have not had one migraine since I turned vegan 4 years ago. All those years and years I suffered miserable migraines and it was my diet. We have to take responsibility for our own health. Yoga is very good as we get older. I do this 6 days a week. Your videos are great.

Oh gosh Imogen, your darling boy really is a darling. I can relate to all this withthe digestive/IBS stuff which has had me on the sofa or bed a large part of each dat for a couple of years but also in so much pain. Sleep is a joy and a gift isn't it? My dil was diagnosed with Addisons after decades of being sick with no diagnosis...she has to take hydrocortisone to replace the cortisol, and fludrocortisone which replaces aldosterone, both of which are made by the healthy/normal adrenal glands. If she's stressed, sick, doesn't sleep well, etc. she has to increase the dose... It's been a hard time for her learning how to read her body's need for these drugs.....she's 55...Apparently the adrenal gland is generally 90% destroyed by the time a person finally gets diagnosed in most cases.....my dil's was caused by tuberculosis she didn't know she had...TB affects the lungs but it can spread to and attack the adrenal glands and without treatment, it destroys them.... She'd has several false positives for TB in earlier years but I assume her doctors had no idea why or perhaps there was no definitive test that would indicate she had a damaged adrenal glad.... When she ended up in hospital prior, due to an adrenal crisis, the doctor treating her said 'we're going to test you for TB" at which point she told him she'd have several false positive TB tests in prior years......at which point he smiled..he knew than and there what was wrong with her..she did test positive again for TB... which was found in the adrenal glands, having destroyed them. It's really sad that it takes decades to figure out why a person is sick.

What a nightmare your poor daughter went through. It's just awful when you know that you're clearly not well and the medical profession have not worked out what is causing it. I think at times they might even come to the conclusion that it's all in your mind, just because they haven't found the reason yet.
