I’ve been taking 100 mg DHEA Tablets daily for over 10 years without any problems. I started taking at menopause at age 54 and am 64 now. Still sexually active with my husband of 44 years and people think I’m 50. I feel wonderful so far.

@Karen19820 That's great to know! As I mention in the video, DHEA is pretty effective at increasing testosterone in women, especially if you can tolerate a higher dose, which apparently is the case. So happy for you and your lucky husband!

100? I can't even get past 15 mg. I cannot imagine taking that much! My hair starts to shed and I start feeling bad. When I first started taking it I had loads of energy and then suddenly I started feeling really tired. I don't understand why. I had breast cancer and have to be very careful to keep the dose low. (so I am told)

I went off HRT and replaced it with a supplement regiment that includes Ashwaganda and 50 mg of DHEA. I feel wonderful, actually better than i was with the HRT. The DHEA has helped ALOT with libido and hot flashes, and just slightly with sleep and night sweats. The Ashwaganda makes me feel great and seems to give me energy. Together I feel 20 years younger. Great and informative video.

I started dhea 5 weeks ago since my Dutch test said I was abnormally low. I take Biosom sublingual 10mg made by Metagenics. My naturopath Dr recommended it. It’s cleared my face from eczema / rosacea which I have been battling for a year and raised libido which has been non existence for 10 yrs. Have not had any hair loss or acne , my face is back to normal such a game changer for me. I feel so much happier. I have been on hrt for two years and still trying to dial in my hormones . Starting small dose of testosterone this week to see if it helps with weight loss. I have been lifting heavy for a year and have seen no body composition change even tho my diet is high protein low carb no sugar.

So happy to see you posted a new video. (I’ve missed you!). This DHEA video was super informative. Love the scientific data to support your findings and advice! Not enough of this on social media IMO. I’ve always understood (from many resources) that 15 mg was the most DHEA that a woman should take. Yet your findings suggest otherwise. Have you heard of this 15 mg maximum and where it might have originated? The evidence from the 3 RCTs and your advice sure seems to debunk the 15 mg rule. I now need to switch my thinking on DHEA. On a side note, I take 10 mg of oral DHEA without any androgenic effects. Yet, when I switched to a 10 mg DHEA mucosal spray, I developed whiteheads and very oily skin. Thought this was an interesting anecdotal experience to mention.

I've started taking DHEA 25mg from LE while living in the UK in 2012, moved to Canada where you cant' even buy vit D online was a challenge buying it. I find it easy to get from the US buyers on ebay, if you buy1 bottle the customs won't seize it as it's viewed as personal usage and only 5% of packages gets reviewed. I now use a forwarding service who sends my package with the specification I give them. I send them as natural supplements and I also buy Estriol cream from India which is declared as body cream. I never had a problem with customs this way. I buy about one yr to 1.5yr supply at a time via forwarding service now. It's much more costly but hey I'm not going to stop taking whats beneficial for me considering we have terrible health 'services' here. It took my friend 15 yrs to get to a GP! I am on a waiting list since mine moved away, I have to be my own dr!!!

@audhdcreativity5899
@audhdcreativity5899 4 ай бұрын
Hey there, Canadian here, lived in several provinces- BC, Sask and Quebec- since 2019. I have used Vitamin D religiously since then, as we had moved back from Mexico and winter was hard on us. We could get it EVERYWHERE, at grocery stores, drug stores, health food stores, even the dollar store (not that I trust that one!) Where are you living? I do agree about the family doctor situation, somewhat. We've had a family doctor in Sask and we are about to have one now in BC after about a 9 month wait- in Quebec, we were not there long enough and now there is French only healthcare (we were there to learn, but did not have enough to advocate for ourselves in healthcare). In the meantime, we do online appointments (telehealth apps, etc ) and if we need referrals, they can usually do it, or we go to walk in clinics. We can get blood tests, etc, just from the online clinics. It's definitely not like having a family doctor for your whole family for most of their lives, but we've gotten 4 major diagnosis' for my daughter and I, my Dad (died at 91 after beating lung cancer at 75) had top of the line cancer treatment (three kinds over his life) and palliative care and we are lucky to be able to be proactive, because it is not easy. Definitely easier than the insurance run around our friends in the US have to do, only to find out they aren't covered at the hospital their doctor works at... it's a whole other level of red tape and medical gaslighting.

I am Canadian and visit at least 2x s year usually and have no problem buying vitamin D though most people get it as a prescription form their doctor. And usually is quite small amounts, they are unfortunately scared by their providers from taking any dose or supplements / medication unless specifically recommended by their physician , especially vitamin D. Anyways got some no problem for my son who lives in Montreal and for my sister in BC. That said, in the province of Quebec access to health care is difficult … but if you live anyways near Montreal, Laval, Eastern Township and near Ontario, there is no issues getting access in English ( no more than in French anyways. ) that said, why not learn the language ? It’s lovely

I really enjoyed the information in your video. I'm a 68 year old female currently on hormone pellets for estradiol and testosterone. I'm also taking progesterone capsules at night. I've heard that taking DHEA is similar to receiving hormone therapy with all the same benefits except it also has the added benefit of weight loss. Is that true? Would it be ok to also supplement with DHEA as well as being on the hormone pellets?
@SimpleHormones
@SimpleHormones 4 ай бұрын
@dkc9102 There is some evidence that DHEA supplementation may help women who are over weight with weight loss. As I mention clearly in the video, DHEA can make a pretty big difference in testosterone for women, so if you're already on testosterone, it's a good idea to approach DHEA cautiously and have both your DHEA-S and testosterone levels carefully monitored by your hormone provider.

@SimpleHormones
@SimpleHormones 4 ай бұрын
@jazdown When you mention "pellets" you're most likely referring to estradiol and/or testosterone pellets. Progesterone isn't amenable to being administered via pellets. In answer to your question, DHEA will probably NOT be a good substitute for an estradiol/testosterone pellet. As I explain in the video, DHEA CAN increase your estradiol . . . but not really enough to bring you up to an optimal level by itself. It CAN help with low testosterone however and might be an option in place of a testosterone pellet, although your individual response will be highly variable.

@SimpleHormones
@SimpleHormones 3 ай бұрын
@nikaa4237 That part about being monitored by a physician sounds familiar . . . kinda like what I said in the video 😉. Local HRT certainly has its place. But also be aware of this: Whether you choose to take systemic hormones to treat menopause symptoms (and increase your blood levels) or NOT . . . you face risks either way. There certainly can be side effects with anything you put into your body, including water. The key is to work with a provider who understands the risks, the benefits, the side effects, and the nuances of hormone optimization. My strong recommendation is that you consider all the risks of both optimizing and NOT optimizing your hormones.

I couldn’t believe how bad my sex drive and ability to maintain 🍆 and I would have thought DHEA would be the very last chemical that would cause this. So after a process of elimination and diet monitoring I finally stopped taking the test booster and lo and behold within a month all things returned to normal! Yes the test booster had a couple other things in it but not at the same level of the DHEA and weirdly enough I ended up talking to another person who had taken the same supplement and had the exact same reaction to this supplement so the real efficacy of DHEA very questionable I guess pay close attention to how your body responds to these hormones buyer beware!

Yes. It can be a problem with most androgens, including DHEA. Often hair loss is related to the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. But that appears to be more of a problem in men than in women.

Unless I missed it, I can't believe you didn't advise getting your levels tested prior to taking any DHEA! If you have estrogen driven breast cancer it is very dangerous to take DHEA. What should be taken for enlarge male breasts?
@SimpleHormones
@SimpleHormones 4 ай бұрын
@VandanaChaudhry-x3s Enlarged male breasts are usually a symptom of testosterone (or other androgens) being "aromatized" or converted into estrogen (estradiol). There's a complicated relationship between body fat, especially visceral fat, and gynecomastia/estrogen in men. Some doctors recommend a drug called anastrozole to block aromatization. Many of the providers I work with prefer not to use anastrozole because estradiol is important in men. I would recommend seeing a hormone specialist who understands the nuances of hormone optimization.

Dhea did nothing for me. 59y post menopausal. Just like black cohosh, red clover, evening primrose oil, Estroven, yams, soy, yoga, meditation working out and on and on. The only thing that truly worked for me was hrt. Blasted those hot flashes, feelings of impending doom, mood swings and insomnia right out of the water. Because I was sleeping better I could then work out and eat better, instead of forcing myself to do so with crappy sleep
