I vaguely remember Jay Leno telling a story about riding his Y2K. As he told it, he was waiting at a red light and the exhaust was putting out so much heat that when the car behind him creeped up too close, its front bumper got warped.

I got to see and hear one of these bikes in 2000. I was going to school at MMI in Phoenix and at the time only 2 of them had actually been produced, the one MTT brought to MMI for us to see and the one that Jay Leno owned. The sound of the engine spinning coming from a motorcycle is insane. Such a cool bike!

MTT Y2K not only lack of low-end torque due to very tall gearing, but also it's a natural design of turbine engine (or any mechanical device that involve turbine as main component) that has very pathetic efficiency in lower RPM a.k.a. designed to spin in specific RPM (usually almost as high as maximum RPM). That's why Y2K also has ridiculously high horsepower for it's size.

HeroRR Considering how successful your channel is, you could complain. If enough channel owners called them out in their behaviour, maybe they might consider not doing it. The fact is they’ve been messing with users’ data for years. Updates and notifications from many of the channels I’m subscribed to have been hidden, subscriptions have been cancelled, and watch lists edited without my consent or knowledge. Google only gets away with it because no one ever says anything. Oh, and the 20th Century ended on 31st December 2000, not 1999. Yeah, I know everyone celebrated then, but they were obviously wrong - unless there are only 999 years in a century. :) Peace Ride safe bro

I can’t remember the year, if it was 98 or 99, I think it was 99. I was at the Dallas air show and heard what I thought was a small jet plane or helo starting up in the vendor display area. As I made my way to the noise it turns out that MTT had a Y2K bike on a bike chassis dyno so people could hear it run at full blast. I only managed to get a short video of the startup procedure (without the fuel) and of course it’s lost somewhere on 8mm. What a crazy bike.

In all seriousness, this would be unusable for anything but drag racing and making people deaf on the streets. The weaker braking, lack of big-bang, and long wheelbase makes it horrible in corners, not to mention you'd be cooking other racers in your exhaust. I really really want one, but I absolutely do not want one.

The Y2K is Science gone wrong, but still got it right. No way i should be on the street. But it needs to exist. Can't say i agree with you that the original Y2K looks "futuristic" though. It looks like a 1980's stretch sport bike with too large exhausts.

I know the Allison C25 turbines from back in my day s in helicopter maintenance. An excellent choice for such use, these buggers will take anything you throw at them, plus the sounds they make on start-up just are are a show of their own. I wonder why the exhausts were turned to blow sideways on the newer models, though. I guess in city traffic, you could just let the exhaust push you along in idle. Also I would like to know how great the average range of those bikes is. I remember the BO105, which was driven by two of those turbines, had a tank capacity of some 500 litres which it burnt through in some 3½ hours…

Shame, real Shame, you didn't or haven't actually driven one ( I own one ja ja ) to give a performance tid bit, that there is an actual 2 ~ 3 second delay between Throttle Wack and torque, this LAG can be slightly strange in that even though the turbine rev's up there is no movement, reminds me of a bike with a broken chain yet the engine can't or doesn't red line or over rev because of this.... once you get the feel it's a little dangerous to hop on a regular sport bike because your actually waiting for the engagement but it's there in a split second.
