He recounted how he was at a traffic light and a Honda Civic started creeping up behind him, and he looked back to make sure the Civic wasn’t going to hit him, and he noticed the front air dam on the Civic started twisting and folding in on itself as it started to melt sue the the Y2K bike’s exhaust temps

@dsimila15 жыл бұрын
Becouse it is not very hot when idling.
@tbonemc21185 жыл бұрын
The exhaust comes out at about 45 degrees to the back of the bike. If you pulled up next to this at some lights you'd better enjoy the look because it's burning the paint off the back off your car. Drags a huge amount of air in which means the same quantity is coming out of the exhaust at about 800 degrees. I've watched one of these things idle and about 5 meters was too close to the end of the exhaust. The sound of it starting up is insane and easily the biggest two wheel head turner. Got to love America because I can't think of anywhere else you'd ever get to ride this on a public street.

@jond39295 жыл бұрын
Jet engines are only reasonably efficient near 100% output. As the output drops, the efficiency goes out the window. Considering that that engine is WAY oversized for the bike (in terms of power) its efficiency must be terrible. A smaller jet engine might actually do alright in terms of efficiency when on the highway but will be poor again in stop and go traffic where the engine is constantly idling.

It still must be able to turn the wheels with a mechanical drive. Could you imagine taking off like a jet engined dragster does just from the jet thrust? A turbine is essentially a small very precisely engineered thrust generating engine tha t creates a enormous amount of hot thrust immediately once it spools up and you engage it. Its like "release the Kraken " from the odessy. If it didn't have a reduction gear transmission feeding into a forward motion gear box with sime sort of damper interface there and another one just to take off safe,ni man alive could take off with this device without doing the most insane "whiskey throttle " certain to occur 100% wreck . Anyone in the way would be a definite casualty for sure. Like a blown top fuel drag boat when those things get loose and don't shut down, even when the driver gets tossed out rag doll style and the shock cord attached to the driver fails allowing the boat to become a land missile and mow down everything it's path. Wish I had the! $$$. Just the sound makes this very expensive toy the only reason to have one. I believe they are around 170,000 gee force large to purchase. Love it for the noise factor and extreme excessive dangerous to people like me who will explore the limits of it knowing its a land based wing suit.
