Undecided home buyers in Houston caught in wait-and-see market amid high demand, low inventory

High prices, high interest rates, this segment feels like it was done by a realtor because they don’t mention high property taxes, school taxes and some times MUD taxes. High cost of HOAs. Let’s not forget the high cost of home insurance; if you can get an insurance company to insure the house. Since some companies are not taking new policies. Inventory has gone up, don’t let realtors tell you otherwise.

Isn't their income based on the sale?! I wouldn't have trusted them away 😂. I don't trust commission based workers who try to sell me stuff. I trust the ones who listen to what I'm looking for and help me find it.

I bought 2 years ago at 7% interest thinking rates would go down and I could refinance in a few years. Now, 2 years later, the rates are 7-7.25%. DOOH!!! My insurance rates have gone up $2700 in two years... I started at $1700 a year (with no flood insurance). I had to jump through hoops to get a new rate in the $2000 range. Even with all that, I do not regret my decision to buy. House prices have gone up 15-25% since I bought, which means I have equity if I want to sell and move to another country. I can't afford to live in the US anymore.

Inventory supply shortage in Houston? Via Rocket Mortgage Houston Market in October this year there are 13375 homes on the market with about 1969 being sold in October. There is plenty of homes so when you say supply shortage are you talking about affordable homes supply shortage? I have seen homes go from 350k to 700k in the last 4 years. This is a local market issue, inventory is there and not being sold because the prices are not affordable.

Not for me. I think real estate prices are inflated, and I believe the market is about to crash. So, like my investments in the stock market, I bought low and is holding and selling high. I'm also weighing a new construction budget over purchasing from builder stock.

what are they talking about ? there is no shortage . inventory is exploding . i saw homes sitting in the market for 80 90 days with multiple price cuts. the builders are doing crazy incentives to move spec homes. this is nonsense .
