This music brings back so many memories. Picture this...you're on the shores of Undella. You feel the warmth of the sand beneath your soles. The waves, so menacing at a distance, come to a quiet halt and splash harmlessly at your feet. People wander about aimlessly, engaged in idle chatter and wearing friendly smiles, the sun beaming down on another beautiful day in paradise. You turn and begin your daily stroll across the lavish dwellings dotting the landscape. You enter a rather humble looking home. A piano begins to play in the background, faintly at first, then louder and more foreboding. A woman in black stands before you, blonde hair cascading down her back, and asks: "What's this? What's your name?" You answer. Your vision begins to blur, and her response is drowned out by the now-deafening piano. You begin to realize you are well and truly fucked. She reaches at her belt for a pokeball. There is no escape. It was nice knowing you, bud.

This theme is one more reason I love the Unova games. What kind of music can make you feel bittersweet emotions, feel calm and introspective? Pokémon really outdid themselves on this. this remaster captured the same awe and wonderment i felt visiting this town for the first time a whole 10 years ago. i will never forget the effect this game and its masterfully composed soundtrack, had on my childhood. now entering my life as an adult i finding myself struggling in new and frightening ways, but this beautiful piece of music reminds me in an instant of every precious moment i spent exploring a world that felt limitless. i probably would not still be here if not for this game and all the many unexpected ways it changed my life down the line.
