@VaerWatches5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment James - while we'd love to offer a sweeping quartz one day, unfortunately, there isn't an accessible supply chain at the moment. Our Swiss Made Ronda quartz' are only a few dollars less than the Seiko NH35 so the easiest upgrade to achieve the sweeping feature would be to move into an auto (which we are currently working on leveraging Miyota and ETA movements). Cheers!

I'm an advocate for a date window on a field watch, you have to imagine being away in "the field" for extended periods of time and losing all track of what day it is, I think it's helpful!

@VaerWatches5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, and understand your perspective. Our biggest feature investments are 10ATM rating (with screwdown crown), American Assembly, and the Gold Swiss MADE Ronda movements. Like many other US-based microbrands our Cost of Goods is so high (relative to larger sub-$200 brands) that we can't afford to sell our watches at wholesale. Again we're not the only brand doing this, but I think you'd find that many of the quality online microbrands (many mentioned in the comments here) are actually delivering more product value than many of the more well known "budget" watches.

@@VaerWatches I think if the date were white with a black background it may make others not so "iffy" on it. I like it the way it is though. I have the regular field watch in black. I like it for the reasons you mentioned...it’s tough , light , and disappears on your wrist. You should mention also that they are introducing an automatic version that will be available with either a Japanese or Swiss movement. I agree on the strap too , it’s exactly the wrong length. Too short to tuck and too long for the keepers..

Thanks for the comment Rex, and glad to hear you're enjoying the watch. Definitely take your point on the NATO's (it's been a challenge with variable wrist sizes). We're working to provide more sizing references pre-purchase and also offer traditional silicon strap options to offset the potential annoyances of the NATO foldback design.

I agree about the date bar. I collect vintage Omega watches . I like the look of a clean watch without a date bar. I have @ Omega 1012 1973 automatic with a date bar. I had to repair the date bar. The other date bar is my $49.00 two tone blue 37 mm quartz Invicta. But most of the time te watch I wear has no date bar. If I want to know what day and date are I pull out My IPhone 13. My IPhone does all the tricks . It even Chimes on the hour. Did you ever see How much watch shops charges for watches that do other things but tell time. I look at my Watch to do I thing, and that is to time. Of course I like looking and admiring my 1949 Omega Trésor in 18k rose gold with a black face.

speaking of field watches, I just stumbled onto this. It is called Ibarra Soldado by Ibarra Watches. Its a Filipino watch microbrand I believe but they have some good looking time pieces. Some of their designs remind me of Orient but I think they fixed everything I don't like about Orient Watches. I think their prices are also reasonable. I know you review high end watches and seiko's more often but I figured I would gamble, enable you again with this hobby and check this watch out.

Triple T, I love the channel, been considering this VAER one as a beater. But the cut off 3 at 3 is a no go. Granted even that is better than 4 o'clock date, NO REASON FOR A DATE AT 4 o'clock EVER! That is an immediate NO. All 4 o'clock date window creator should be drug out on the street and tar and feathered. I hate bad nato's as well. I tend to cut off the useless second under layer. Keep up the good luck and keep being you. Have a look at Haveston! One of the best field Nato straps you can get.

I bought one. Nice, I thought, overall, and a good value prop. But what put me off, a forever quirk of mine is the second-hand doesn't hit the markers all around the dial. I'm fine with the nato, date window is AOK but that was a no sale for me. I sent it back. If Japanese movements can get the hand to hit the markers, the Swiss movements should too.
