Underøath has always been so nostalgic, in a sense. Anytime I think about their music, shit just comes back to me like it happened yesterday.. Listening to these songs with my friends, the good times, getting through hard times...all nostalgic.

I will remember Underoath for being a groundbreaking band. Define The Great Line and Lost In The Sound Of Separation are two of the greatest albums Metalcore has ever seen. They're both absolute masterpieces.

There's something this band has that others nowadays just don't. I honestly can't explain it, but I just don't get the same feeling listening to more recent underground bands than I do with Underoath. I was in elementary school when one of my older neighborhood friends came over and introduced me to them while helping me put together my first drumkit. I remember hearing "In regards to myself" for the first time and just being completely blown away. It's exactly like what Aaron was saying, I felt like this music was made for me. Aaron continues to be the biggest influence in my drumming to this day, and I owe it to Underoath as a whole for getting me through some extremely rough times in my life. Glad these guys are back. This band means so much to so many people.

Hell yeah! My youth pastor was just out of high school and got me into so many hard bands. UØ and TDWP were the two i most remembered. Being a rowdy little 6th grader, I couldn't understand why the hell they were screaming but the music was so passionate. Just recently I saw them in Texas at 19years old and holy fucking shit... the years of listening to these beautiful men play some of the most passionate music I've ever heard blew me away. Thanks to SoWhat?! Festival and my loving parents who supplied the tickets, I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream.

I'll be honest, ive never listened to underøath before they've never interested me. But lately I've been hearing their name all over the place hearing how amazing they are and how they were back in the day. I listed to the "define the great line" album and i cried, everything was genuine in that album and i regret never getting into them until now, and they are the most down-to-earth band i've ever seen. Now that they're back together, you can bet I'll be at their next show

Watching this makes me so Happy. Underoath was one of the first bands to get me into heavier music, around the age of 14-15. I got some of the Lyrics to "When the Sun Sleeps" (one of my favourite Underoath songs) tattooed on me in 2013. Not many Bands have made me feel the way this Band does, and no matter how old I get, I think there will always be appreciation for them. I really hope I get to see them Live, after almost 8 years of Listening to them.

Never got the chance when i was young in middle school and halfway through highschool i thought i missed the boat. Then as fate would have it, they came back. Thank you so much Underoath.

I feel you guys. It's like with a group of friends. You grew up as teens, love the same shit and eventually when you hit your twenties, life started to change. I'm 30 now and my twenties sucked. Was going through really rough times with friends, relationships and family. Now 30 and i reunite with couple of my friends and me and my ex are back together. It's like when you hit 30 you become mature and really talk things out and get reconciliation.

I know they aren't a Christian band anymore per say, but they really helped me through a lot, and I used to watch and listen to Aaron give sermons. As much as the band grew up together, I grew with them and had my own bouts in my life. I started listening to them when I was 13, and now I'm 24 still listening to them. I even took drums more seriously after listening to them. Their songs still speak to me to this day, and I am so happy for the reunion. With all this said...it is weird hearing Aaron curse, but not in a bad way because hey...I curse...its just different lol.

I love underoath... always will. will go down as one of the best bands of all time. no matter what they come out with post 2016..... anything that came out after LITSOS lacks that insanely raw emotion that the first three records have. underoath is my favorite band of all time. inspired to get tattoos like spencer, my drum style is best described by aaron gillespie. i have a bone to pick with new music. the aura of the world is different. those hard raw times cannot ever be recreated. i wont say RIP UO..... but i will say... they should just play their 3 records and tour. new music cannot be as raw. its not possible.

It's funny to me because I've never been religious but for some reason it was one of the reasons I liked them so much when I was a teenager. @xtenthfloorx

To me I never worried about them being labeled Christian, and it actually enhanced the music and empowerment of being Christian, as to which you can be made fun of. This sound overall is tough and made me feel tough till this very day. Their music is universal like everyone else. Sounds like truly, not everyone has same views or may believe in Christ anymore. To be labeled Christian would be wrong, yes, but theyve burned their bridges by letting the world dictate their image and pathway. That's what hurt me when they taken away the Christian label, to be Christian is to be different but my non believing friends to believers, never once gave a damn about the label for the group. Not many Christians did, if so, as it says, their not Christians. Im glad they're back but their demeanor has changed, which isnt bad but will not be the same, in regards of confidence within the style towards the music. Peace be to them all.

No judgement here, but it seems like Aaron is a little more bitter about Christianity and such now. As a worship leader and fellow believer, I really enjoyed his worship much he put out a few years back as well as all of the preaching he did at things like the awakening conference. That said, I'm in no way saying "oh, he's not really a christian" or anything like that, but I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about where the (seeming) shift in his character came from

Aaron says he doesn't remember how they wrote those records... You're taking credit for your music as a Christian band, God wanted you to write those records, you strayed from the path and therefore have no recollection of doing so. It's too bad honestly, I feel like I can relate to UO more than ever before. Listened to them when I was 13-14. (To think that was 12 years ago) I grew up Christian, things didn't go like I planned so I said fuck it, fuck God, sup drugs, cars, money and who knows what else. Now I look at you guys, knowing you'll never ever read this and I think to myself. You, who I looked up to through my childhood has in a way betrayed me. You guys were what I wanted to be.. You stood for something, you had a message, but now you guys are broken, you look broken and I see myself, a broken shell of a boy with dreams, who wanted so much but could achieve so little. I might listen to your new record, but I heard the preview and it sounded like shit, any old school fan will see it. Define the Great Line and They're Only Chasing Safety were records that helped me through the low. I have a feeling all you guys have to offer now, is quite the opposite, just more depressing and edgy bullshit which every other fucking band has done. It's too bad, I'm lost and all I see is myself in those guys is they're lost, just like me, desperate to find the answers because after everything they've struggled for, it just wasn't enough. You guys should drop the name, you're trying to coast off of fame you earned with an ideology you no longer portray. Underoath stood for all the broken and betrayed, now, you guys just seem to be spreading bullshit and despair. It was a good ride boys, but I'll check out from here.
@jonw1235
@jonw1235 6 жыл бұрын
They look broken? Maybe you are mistaking the natural aging process with being broken. Its great they helped you in the past--they did the same for me; but it was the power of music, not the power of God through the music, that provided you with comfort. Teenage angst is something we all must go through. The fact that this band helped you out is not significant. I was also inspired by UnderOath, though I never did join a real band. My path is certainly very different from any of these guys' paths. Underoath didn't betray you. They don't owe you anything. The fact that they aren't labeling themselves as a christian band anymore does not mean they themselves are not christian. What? there's now that F bomb in the new song? Aaron cussed a few times in this interview? Unless they literally come out and say "we are not christian anymore", or "we aren't christian--never really were", you can relax.
@OBrienDesigns
@OBrienDesigns 4 жыл бұрын
Dude, you honestly have no idea wtf you're talking about. They aren't broken. What they are saying is actually completely the opposite. You're a cynic and just because you don't connect with underoath the way you used to and hate your life doesn't mean they are the problem, you are.
