Ah yes. The one where Seagal of course hit on his co-star Katherine Heigl when they shot the movie. She said to him that she was fifteen and he replied that he'd had younger girlfriends. I wonder why nobody has at least one positive thing to say about him.

This was always my favorite Seagal movie back in the day. I liked it more than the first one, because of the setting. A train is just cool, because you have those tiny spaces and have to deal with that.

I agree that the first movie was stronger overall. It's pretty hard to top Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey trying to out crazy each other lol. As a long time railfan though, I like the second one equally despite its flaws. Eric Bogosian was hilarious as the main villian in this. I loved the train crash at the end with Mike from Breaking Bad going out like a boss.

Got to agree. A train vastly improves a movie. I'm hoping The Hunted 1995 gets some reactions for its amazing train sequence.

Hard To Kill has some good lines in it and a couple of memorable slaughter scenes, but my other favorite I wish you'd do is Marked For Death. Of all Segal movies it has the absolute best villain, and some smarter director or producer actually convinced Segal to let himself get beat up a little bit.

Andrew, I give you credit for realizing that the porter character in this film served the same dramatic function (as sidekick) that the Playmate did in the original film but trying to compare visual effects from 100+ million dollar blockbusters to this film is like comparing apples to oranges. I will give you that a few of the effects shots here were a bit janky but they weren't Scorpion King level crap by any means. This film's budget was 60 million, T2 was 100 million.

Also, props for recognizing bit player Patrick Kilpatrick as a henchman but you did say he is a friend of your dad...interesting. Ok, so you recognize Eric when you see him, just don't know his name. He is mostly known for writing and starring in the play and film, Talk Radio and he also starred on Law & Order, Crinimal Intent. Also props for recognizing Brenda Bakke from Hot Shots : Part Deux.

its funny that they say this movie feels like it had a smaller budget than the first. The estimated budget for the first film was $35 million while the second film had a budget of $60 million. I think the second film had a lot more cgi they had to pay for. The visuals were probably good for the time but don't hold up to 21st century standards. Anyway, I think most people would agree the first was the superior film due to the acting performances of the villains which were not replicated in the second film. I think both of these films are the stereotypical die hard copycats "Die Hard on a train and Die Hard on a ship" which a number of movies have tried to emulate.

I strongly disagree with Andrew about the miniature effects---they were spectacular in this film and I will take elaborate miniatures any day over the bland CGI chaos in nearly every superhero epic of the last 10 years or so. All the bad effects in this film (and granted they are BAD) are bad CGI enhancements that really didn't need to be there anyway (Eric Bogosian on fire on the ladder and wounded near the train tracks). I would happily pay a higher ticket price than normal to go to a theater today and see a major action movie done with the same techniques. However, I do agree with Andrew and Kristen that the original is a superior film and Erika Eleniak is a more entertaining sidekick.

I agreed with Eric. This movie had cool scenes and great one liners. To this day I still say "Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups" in IRL conversation. The antagonist wasn't up to par and the stacks didn't feel the same or better. This felt as if they wanted a lower budget for the film and relied more on Segal to deliver. Pacing was better with scenery changes but I feel more action outside the train would have been more fun.

Forget the absurdity that same person gets caught in some wild plot (yes, I know John McClain exists) it's the fact that in this characters world/universe TWO world changing events happened just a couple years apart. Basically two madmen gained access to american military weapons that could cause world changing events. Perhaps that's why no US3 ever came out because it became a little too ridiculous lol.

A great sequel. Eric Bogosian, Peter Greene and Everett McGill are fantastic antagonists in this film. Kudos to their performances. Katherine Heigl was amazing in this. Played a very strong and resourceful character. If you want to see Everett McGill in another film. I recommend "My Fellow Americans" coming out a year after this in 1996. It is a great fictional Presidential film. McGill stars with Jack Lemmon, James Garner and Dan Aykroyd. A very funny and suspenseful film. Directed by Peter Segal. Finally, I highly recommend you I see an older Seagal film I recommend and agree again "Hard To Kill' a great 1990 suspense thriller. Seagal stars with Kelly LeBrock and William Sadler. A great film! I love how Dane, despite being gutshot and hurled from a moving train, somehow teleports approximately two miles onto the helicopter ladder, but the teleportation process makes him look like he was clipped out of other shots and poorly pasted in. A lot of Seagal movies are even worse than this mess, but few are funnier. Everyone's mileage varies, but for me the funniest is _On Deadly Ground,_ directed by Seagal himself, a preposterous _Trial of Billy Jack_ style vanity project with a muddled environmental message co-starring Michael Caine.

What about the speeded up fight at the end? Seagal was starting to get out of shape already...

@@matthewprince9705 l did not mind it cause it was like Uncharted 2 video game where Nate ran off the train and jumped off

From Steven Seagal, I recommend "Above the Law", "Hard to kill" and "Marked to death"

The reason the end boss fight is so underwhelming is because Seagal's ego took over and resisted every attempt by the director and fight coordinator to have the villain hit him and puncture his air of invincibility

I love that the badass main heavy that wanted to fight Ryback got absolutely mogged in their fight. Power levels were revealed and Ryback is a monster unlike any other.

Apart from the freaky helicopter sequence at the end, the movie was pretty decent. Ryback shrugging off that rifle wound was a bit too much, though.

🙏 react to 1995's ASSASSINS. Directed by Richard Donner, starring Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas, and Juliane Moore. It's about two rival assassins compeeting for the same marks, and it's so damn underrated. Please 🙏 check it out.

I think the Tommy Lee John’s fight lasted shorter. Neither fight was a tough one for him.

Tommy lee Jones character was more crazy than fun in the first one unless his niece is fighting the bad guys with him and then you can see them together a lot

It must be hard to be the sound man on a Steven Seagal movie.

Prior to Gray's Anatomy, Katie Heigl was the star of the movie "Side Effects" (2005) about the seamy side of the prescription drug industry. (Her character is based on the actual experiences of the writer/director.) It's currently available on Vudu/Fandango. I was pre-cast to play Katie's father. But they wanted me to final-agree to the role without being able to see my portion of the script first. So I turned that down and just played a bit part. Anyway, the film is worthwhile, and was shot for only 190K. Looks like no one has ever KZbin reviewed it. You could be the first.

For Segal movies- Marked for Death, Hard to Kill and Out for Justice. You guys need to do Van Damme movies too. Go with Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Lionheart, Hard Target and Universal Soldier!!!

You need to realise that as far as visuals went back then, they werent in HD so saying they dont hold up as well doesnt make sense.

I feel the final crash of this movie is loosely based on a real crash that happened 9 years before. If you google "the hinton disaster", a VIA passenger train called "Super Continental" had a head-on collision with a big CN freight train. Seems too close to the "Grand Continental" in this movie to be a coincidence.
