This is ridiculous, your intonation is SO pure! Normally with fretless bass you hear the minute pitch deviations from people being human... But you are a freaking machine and this sounds as correct as if you had frets. And you're doing tapping, fast hammer-on and pull-offs, bass, and melody AT THE SAME TIME. There must be literal thousands of hours on the fretless bass behind this video. Also the cover itself is sublime! Bravo!!!

If you mean the techniques, like I assume you do, then there's this other guy named Tiago Andree. He's like one level above everyone else you've ever seen. And the fact that he also does it in one take and live is really something else. And if you're talking about mastering the bass, then go watch Jaco, Malaman, Patucci, Hadrien Feraud or Mohini Dey. And if you're looking for groove and feel, Check out Remco or Mina here on youtube. Other than that, there are also all the iconic players left like Wooten and Miller, James Jamerson, Gary Willys, Tony Franklin and so on. I'm not saying Charles is a bad player but there are so many others out there making music. Just because you can play stuff flawlessly (using multiple takes or "official video") and in 300 bpm doesn't necessarily make you the best. However it's your opinion and it's cool if you think so and thought about all the variables and not just going for all the likes your comment would get.

Huge shoutout for the arrangement. Immaculate and beautiful fretless is a given with this guy, but also no small feat to one-man a track Flea originally played on with additional skilled humans; there's a lot of nuance to shop from there and at the same time would very tough to make it sound full. Nailed it.

Hi Charles, I'm part of the Patreon and I wanted to know if you had lessons on composing for solo bass. I started officially practicing my tapping a few months back after watching your channel for awhile and seeing the possibilities. I notice you excel at creating arrangements that crescendo in intensity, and that your use of fills always seems appropriate, adding just enough to surprise listeners without feeling random. You also excel at fluidly shifting from slap to fingerstyle to tapping, do you have any exercises or advice to help? If you get this message, I super appreciate it, if not, I understand as random comments get buried easily. I just think you play the bass so beautifully and I want to learn how to create beautiful music with my bass too.
