George Washington has been one of my favorite films since the first time I saw it in 2006. Since then I have watched it no less than 10 times. David Lowery fully understands and so greatly articulates what makes this movie so special.

David Gordon Green, director of such fine films as The Sitter, Your Highness, and Pineapple Express. Don't know how he managed to accomplish such a great film.

If you have followed his career, it's the films you've mentioned that are the surprise. Loads of talent.

David Gordon Green has the most consistently bizarre career where he's continued making ponderous indie dramas in the decades since George Washington while also making tons of lowbrow stoner comedies. And like these are the only two types of films he ever makes, there's no middle ground.

Undertow, Snow Angels, All the Real Girls, Joe...David Gordon Green is an underrated master. He just made a few silly films in between the serious ones (and I actually think both Pineapple Express and The Sitter are pretty fantastic Comedies).

Prince Avalanche is pretty good too.

He’s a great director who also likes doing low brow comedy stuff. Nothing wrong with that, imo.

Great video and explaination hate. I've never really paid attention 5:30 much to I now realize how little I actually know about movies and the interpretation of a moment. Much to learn.

Jackson Hendrix I'm still hoping for a Drive Criterion

I'd love that as well, especially because the current Blu-Ray for Drive is a little lacking in terms of features.

Listening to David Lowery talk about film makes me understand why I very much dislike him as a director. And why I, for the most part, very much like David Gordon Green. To hear Green talk about his movies, it feels natural. He genuinely feels like somebody who actually lived in the worlds that he creates. David Lowery, much like his movies, is a whole lot of hot air and polysyllabic text over instagrams. In short, he seems like a guy who uses the word 'profound' with that air self-important over-emphasis, when talking about movies he's watched. Like the type of guy who wants to discuss movies over a coffee with five words in its name.

Yeah I don't understand why critics suck this film off so hard either. The visuals and cinematography are pretty good but the story's confusing.
