Under the Sea Soap Bar - Using Seaweed powder, Spirulina and kelp

I asked my Patrons to name up to 3 ingredients to use in a soap and the suggestion I drew out of the Soapy Jug came from Kath who runs Gem D Creations. She wanted me to make a soap using both seaweed powder and Spirulina.

Beautiful. I love using spirulina as a natural colorant. I usually mix spirulina with green French clay.

Any Seaweed, like spirulina, will have a fish like smell. Most of the time, the smell doesn't come into the soap.

Hello I am a complete novice, it never occurred to me to make soap, i just became dissatisfied with products here in Europe, I wondered if i could achieve a better result, i think i can, thanks for your video as i was wondering about exfoliating quality to my soap now I know, but I wonder if you have ever heard of someone using dried comfrey leaf in a soap? i live by the coast could i just go beach combing and grab some seaweed, dry it and powder it?

Yes I have seen people put comfrey in soap. You can also collect your own Seaweed and dry it for soap. There are several soap makers out there that do that.

There is a fishy smell when first cut but it disappears as it cures. Much the same as goats milk soap smells when first cut
