Amazing coverage! - wow what could of been if the 86s was still around. Quite the amazing workhouse, especially a great sight seeing 2x on coal

@@allan.armstrong I lived at Springwood back then.....you could hear them coming down the "hill" for ages before they got to Springwood. Massive sound...massive sight. Great stuff.

Very nice. Do you know if the 46 ever ran together with 85 or 86 classes.

@@goarmysleepinthemud. 46s were incompatible with 85/86 class. When they ran together (usually over the blue mountains) they required a crew in both locos.

@@InevitableMe No none of the electric locos run at all now in revenue earning service. The 86's cost 4M each and had an average life of 15 years and most have been cut up for scrap as have the 85's and 46's.

@@AussiePom Thankfully, two of them are preserved in operating condition, as they are used for maintenance trains in the city circle and other underground lines, although sadly I don't believe they run heritage trains with them currently. What I wouldn't give to see a class 46 restored to operation! I was born too late to see the electric locomotives in operation, and yet I firmly believe that the NSWGR Class 46 electric locomotive is the most beautiful machine ever created.
