Needed this video James. My surgery is awaiting to be rescheduled due to insurance issues….was one of the worst feelings hearing that news and a few days prior to the surgical date even. Makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who was or is in the waiting game.

Thank you James for your thorough breakdown of the jaw surgery process. I’m still in the braces phase before upper, potentially double jaw surgery. I really just want to get the surgery over with, but my orthodontist is still doing some minor tweaks to get the teeth ready for surgery. It’s difficult to be patient, but I know it will be worth it. You’re looking great!

Thanks Sean! I totally understand what you are going through. I thought I was ready for double jaw surgery when I went to my 2nd surgeon consultation but my surgeon said I needed minor tweaks at the time. It was 7 months after is when I got my surgery. Time will fly and soon enough, you will have your surgery! It's worth it!

Hi Dreamer, they didn’t remove my braces during surgery. They removed it about 6 months post-op.

As always I love your positive attitude and you are looking great! You can really see the difference with the photos from the front. As someone with a very similar underbite I know how good it feels to not be self conscious that you look different from everyone else anymore. Awesome James

Looking great James. Really unbelievable the change another week makes, can really see the swelling coming down around the eyes and cheek areas. Amazing result! I’ve recently learnt I will be having braces and double jaw surgery, followed by facial implants and septor rhinoplasty (3 surgeries over 4/5 years) for severe facial asymmetry and breathing problems, so videos like this are very helpful for me. Thank you.

Wow, that is going to be one long journey but I'm sure it will be worth it! I'm happy that the videos are helpful. There are definitely changes that occur weekly (it's subtle but the face will continue to shape and change over time). Best of luck Jason!

Man you look great, I seen your videos periodically while going through the braces portion of my journey. But now being day 4 post op, I genuinely cant thank you enough for giving us all this resource of your experience in vlogs. Its amazing how long each day feels. Especially at the start. I love my face so far, I can tell I am going to have great results. But the soft foods, the bad tasting splint, the poor sleeps, and my nose is like 50% blocked and I cant unplug it (so frustrating, if you have advice for this part i'd love to hear). Its definitely hard. But I got this. Thank you so much James.

I've been watching your videos on double jaw surgery as I underwent double jaw surgery and genioplasty 7 days now, your videos are simply the best on documenting everything compared to everyone else who usually just skims over the hard parts as it would off-set their audience. You keep it real and I heavily respect that. I currently have a splint in my mouth and can't talk for about one more week along with a 6 week liquid diet. (5 weeks now!) I just really wanna get back into the gym though, I miss it so much.

Hi James! I've been watching your videos starting a week before I got jaw surgery. I found your day by day/weekly progress really helpful and it made me less scared. I'm 11 days post-op today and definitely feeling very blue. I feel like my nose is huge, i look like a child now and i'm feeling like I made a huge mistake (miss my old face). So this was just the video I needed to see today. I know i'm still early on in my recovery, just feeling a bit impatient haha but thank you for the reminder that this is a long process and to be patient because the face will re-balance in time! Your face looks great after surgery! Thank you for always having such a positive and encouraging outlook :)

Thanks Michelle! Yes, it's a long road to recovery. Honestly, even at 20 weeks post-op, I'm still adjusting to my new bite. It does feel strange but it's getting better. I'm sure eventually, we will be chewing without actually thinking about it.

Hi! When did you start chewing normal food? I am in week 10 and my jaw still can’t open much (like your week 3 video). I am still not used to chewing with new bite.

Hi giographix, I was comfortable in eating soft foods at around the week 4-5 mark. Have you been doing those jaw exercises? That really helped me loosen the muscles around the mouth area. Even at 20 weeks post-op, I'm still getting use to my new bite but it does get better each day.

IHi syumassh, it's my bottom lip and chin that is numb. I can move my bottom lip though.
