Thanks for the update!! I’m 6 months post op and 1 month post upper hardware removal. I’m glad to see that it’s perfectly normal to still have a bit of swelling even 1 year post op. Hoping my numbness goes away but if not, I agree with you that it’s doable to get used to it. Looking forward to your new content

How are you feeling three weeks in? I’m on Day 2 post op and it’s rough 😭😭 Has the first milestone of significant change in comfort happened for you and if so when was it?
@laurarode8530 Жыл бұрын
@@KhanhTagious I'm doing great. I would say it has been more uncomfortable rather than painful. Finally yesterday i saw my ortodoncist and she took off all the hooks used for surgery, so it is really a relief. The first week is the most difficult i guess, but hang in there, it gets better i promise. I rember my surgeon said to me day 3 and 4 are usually the most difficult days because it is the peak of the swallow. For me, the first week was difficult because you cant breathe through your nose, all food has to be liquid and medicines are not tasteful at all, but what helps a lot is: 1. Family or friends who cheer you up 2.A lot of ice to maintaning the face cold for the first 3 days, after that, from day 4 and further its better the hot. 3.Trying to eat your liquids before medicines. Since medicines are strong it can cause stomach pain. 4.Rest and watch a lot of movies or series. 5.Know that its gonna pass. Its just one week of all your life and the results will be worth it. For me it got a lot easier in day 8. My sugeon remove the elastics that kept my mouth completely shut and replace them with more flexible elastics, this allowed me to swallow all the pills (medicine) instead of taking them disolved in water and also i started eating soft foods. It made the difference. You can do it!!

Thanks, I had my underbite surgery 25 days ago your vlogs really helped me, I'm also satisfied with the results, you look great!

Glad to see this update from you almost 1 year post op! I am now almost 5 months post op from my double jaw surgery! I found your original vlogs of your process when I was getting ready to have my surgery. Like you, I still have some numbness on my chin area. It's not terrible but I do notice it. At the end of the day it is something I can manage considering my bite is better than it was before. In a month I get my braces off and I get my clear retainers! Looking forward to your other content coming soon!

Jaw and smile look great, James! I am about 11 weeks post upper jaw surgery and noticed most of the major swelling is gone for me, too. Looking forward to seeing more of your post-op jaw journey.

Looking great James! I'm also numb on the chin too. Hopefully, by next year, our numbness goes away. I still have my braces on 🙄 geez, I can't wait for them to get removed. Hope to see you soon!

At how many weeks or months after surgery did you start working out again?
@jameslsong1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Brani, I started working out at around the 6 week post-op mark but I would wait a little longer. Check out the week 6 recovery video for more information.

Hey James, OMG! so excited to see a update from you. it’s almost a year post-op for the both of us, how are you doing? 😊
@jameslsong1 Жыл бұрын
I'm doing good man. I know there is still some swelling left - some people take longer than 1 year for to be 100% recovered so there is still hope!

Hi J, I would say my lower lip has half the feeling back. It is still very tingly. I hope more feeling will come back over time.

Did you get a genioplasty by chance? It seems that’s associated with numbness.

How about the stiffness? Did it go away?
@jameslsong1 Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I am still a little stiff around the jaw, mostly upper sides of the mouth. But it is slowly going away. Probably just need to give it time.
