My guess is that the hair is tied too short so the hook isn‘t able to turn properly in the fishes mouth and get a hold. In some scenes you can see that the hair is max 0,5cm which I consider way too short...

Why i never use boilie when i do i make them square or oddly shapped the fish feel a perfect round ball they spit it as its not a natural shape or feel in there mouth

@@alfamale9555 yep the hairs to long needs to be the legth of the hook so the eye of the hook is almost touching the bait that way when the carps mouth closes it will spike it rarther then be outside its mouth doing nothing and id say the hooks to big big gape size 8 is plenty big enough for 20lb carp

Hi Andy, I stopped float fishing for carp a while ago, this was due to fail hooking. Not very sporting. It was mainly a float lift method I was trying, so the shots would be close to the hook. It was then I found two great videos on here by John Bailey, one on float fishing for Tench and the other float fishing for Carp. Since using His set up, No weight near hook and all shot under the float it's changed My fishing for the better, meaning I've had No fail hook ups this year, not saying it might not happen, but touch would I've had none. I'm now fishing one foot over depth and No shots under float. The quill lays flat on the surface. My eight year old Grandson hooked a 14 pounder last night and the float sailed across and under. Using a claw hair rigged bottom 12 mm and 12 barbless.

Go out in the garden at night after a rain and harvest slugs, i think ive found the bait that works when normal baits dont ive had some great fish on slugs in the past 2 weeks seems to be a natural bait they love and dont hessitate to take, try it out my mates winning open club matches with them while everyone else is pretty much blanking or doing shit weights the slugs seem to tempt the bigger boys as well had a 19lb mirror out my local few nights ago on a slug it was stright hooked 11 lb line size 8 barbless with a 1 ounce guru lead with a split shot either side to bolt it, simple bolt rig never fails with bread or corn maggot stiff pastes all sorts but a fat black slug is doing the trick

A slug with its belly cut open and hair rigged on a running rig is a killer bait for almost everything that swims that has a mouth big enough for the slug. Chub especially on running water bounced on the bottom on a lead just not heavy enough to quite hold bottom.
