Cleaning up and clearing out doesn’t do any good if they have addiction issues, it just moves the problem someplace else.

They did this beneath a bridge or overpass in Wheatridge not to long ago as well. This happens all over the area.

Wasn't like this when I went to Colorado State in the late 80's to early 90's and Colorado was a red state. I connect the democrat policies with this current houseless situation. I don't know what kind of mental twisting democrat/liberals must do to accept this and not vote conservative. Hasn't the last 20 years of voting blue resulted in the social and financial demise of Colorado?

In Las Vegas homeless people get killed and swept away in the tunnels whenever a storm pops up, its pretty wild.

The inflation is insane. Over the past couple of years everything has skyrocketed in price. Democrat policies are killing us and the economy.

If we can just use the most *politically correct language*, the entire problem will disappear..! Seriously though, homeless bums in drug camps are on one end of the spectrum, and there are many sober, sane, and otherwise decent people living in vehicles, tents, and in the open... A runaway inflationary economy is partly to blame + the massive migrant influx (open borders = open invitation) adds to the challenge. "Navigating the criminal justice system" or accessing a birth certificate are the least of the concerns for most of these folks. One of the more glaring issues is the notion that they ought to be "housed," and that being "unhoused" is the greatest challenge they face. The folks living in that drainage tunnel likely do not care nearly as much about an apartment as they do about whatever was in those needles strewn about the place. Stop the drugs, and take a major step forward toward solving the problem. Actionable plan to get a handle on the situation: Designate urban camp zones (think federal BLM land but for cities) and let people live the way they want, whether that's a tent, car, camper, or cardboard box. Then police it and make attempts to help the most needy first, assist the willing, and arrest the criminals. Not the prettiest sight, but nothing about this situation is going to be very pleasant or easy. Gotta be honest and make an assessment, make plans, and take action--like they're doing with the migrant centers. Could've done something similar for resident homeless years ago. Now there's money behind it, so there's incentive. And corruption, but I digress.

Drugs can't be stopped.
@metaprophet3 ай бұрын
@@chuckscott-cy7iq That's a blanket statement, and though it may seem true (as blanket statements sometimes do), I certainly didn't suggest that drugs could be stopped altogether, either. But the difference between complete apathy/enablement + manufacture/importation (of drugs) is a big one, just like the difference between cannabis and fentanyl. "Drugs" alone, especially as a catch-all category, probably can't be "stopped," because the demand is there, the supply is there, and pharmaceutical drugs rule the world. But if, instead of whatever was in those needles, the same people were consuming different substances, that trash-strewn wasteland could look different. Maybe they'd even trade a storm drain for a flop house; it would be progress. It seems some of these drugs are meant to destroy more than anything else. (And before anyone says "all drugs destroy lives," I know, I know... but it's a matter of degrees, and to ignore that does a disservice to all those struggling with addiction--and it's an inaccurate assessment, lacking nuance and reason.)
