Been one of my favorite albums since it dropped, end if story. I'll die on the hill that this is best metalcore/ post-hardcore record to come out of that golden age. Seen UnderOath 8 times and hopefully will catch them on this tour. Spencer still has it in spades!!! Of course the guys still absolutely RIP as well! Love em to death, and always will.

Yes, Define the Great Line totally was their best album. I am not saying that because it was easy to pick as best album either. Every single album they ever came out with got increasingly better as if they could get any better! Their early sound was already perfected in such a way that none other can even come close to. Spencer and Aaron's voices were so distinct yet they never outshined one another. I don't know how they were able to do it, but well done. BTW this is my absolute favourite song by them. I breathed this song like everyday for years as a teenager. It is good to come back here and see that people are still posting! That's the legacy they had.

One of the most accomplished bands of their genre. I would consider Underoath one of thr pioneering bands of post-hardcore music. "They have received three Grammy nominations in 2007, 2010[6][7] and 2019 respectively[citation needed] and have recorded a live CD/DVD box set entitled Survive, Kaleidoscope, which was released on May 27, 2008. From late February to early May, the band recorded their sixth studio album entitled Lost in the Sound of Separation, which was released on September 2, 2008,[8] and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underoath

This is the only "hardcore" band where I can't find someone that sounds exactly like them. For that reason alone they are amazing. No one can emmulate their sound because the emotion behind their music is so real... so "scary" that create a sound of love, hate, and everything inbetween. They are truly untouched in my book.

Held captive, I'm a prisoner In the back room where the water leaks and I'm oh, so cold Command me on what to do, but we both know neither you or I are in control There's nothing left for me here I'm grabbing on to what's left of this hole. It's all too real this can't be happening Never again, ever again, will I say I'm OK I'm scared of the fate that will become mine No time to talk you know the drill Under my desk this can't be it I'm only dreaming, I've got to be dreaming But I can't get up. No time to talk, not this time, this is my place This is where I arrange It's so funny how we see things so clear when we have no time left to live So lay back now and take it in I won't say a word So lay back now and take it in I won't say anything I can't believe how it feels To stand here in this room And feel like it's going to blow I think we're all going to blow Under my desk this can't be it I'm only dreaming, I've got to be dreaming But I can't get up No time to talk, not this time, this is my place This is where I arrange I've got to be dreaming (I've got to be dreaming) We've got to be dreaming (We've got to be dreaming) We've got to be... I would consider Underoath pioneers of their genre. Tim, Grant and Aaron's musicianship, puts this band in a completely different category. "I don’t know if you remember it, but a few years ago we decided that we weren’t going to be a Christian band anymore and that made a lot of people angry, as well. I think that was another thing where Underoath did what we wanted. We wanted to be honest with everybody. There were some members who didn’t believe that anymore. When those kids grow up, they might feel the same way that some of our guys do. I came into a huge problem with it over the years..." Spencer, Alt Press, 2012

This album still sounds better to me than their later ones lol. Just saw a 2016 interview featuring Aaron and Spencer and they say the drums were recorded in Atlanta Georgia, but the rest was recorded in Massachusetts in the dead of winter. That's part of the reason why the album sounds so dark? Being Southerners, they weren't used to that climate.
