5:55 This is such a true statement about music making people cry. When (even myself) you deal with mental health/depression struggles, you relate so much more emotionally to music. It’s literally therapy for me because I’m so antisocial and feel like a burden asking for help so I just listen (and drum) to music and some days it makes me cry. Hell, just an hour ago I started crying at the end of “to whom it may concern” because “at the end of the road, you’ll find what you’ve been longing for” and it just hits me hard. 16 year fan of UØ. Thank y’all. ❤️

Me too! UO has been a big part of my Spotify playlists used while driving for decades now, and it's not about to change even the slightest 😍.

Gosh, I am so humbled by Spencer’s vulnerability here. Being so honest about an addiction journey is not easy. But I think it shows he is in such a better place he can begin to talk more openly about it and process it. But gosh, I just really want anyone who might be struggling reading this know that you matter. Your life matters and I hope that you find that peace someday.

Best episode yet, it's so good to hear you both talk through your relationship together, usually it's either Aaron or Spee telling things from their own perspective, so this episode was really special. And this song hits different now that I know what went into it. Great job all around

41:38 "my collaboration with Spencer is more important to me than the band" Yea I totally understand that and kind of already knew that. You 2 are just as important to each other as you both are important in being in UO at all. No question a respectful take.

Spencer, every damn day in my car. Every. Damn. Day. Starting work at 7am? I need some UnderOath for this shit. Commute into London on the train? Perfect amount of time to listen to Define in full.

Spencer is crazy, Underoath is a car concert band!! It's basically a live concert when Underoath is on my speakers! So glad these two shared the inner workings. I can't imagine how healing that must have felt to put a voice to what Aaron has been feeling for so long!

This is gonna land however it does, but shit like this just drives it home. I feel like the more people that see this, especially the people that have, as a sidenote or a passenger, which is mostly the listening community, get to more or less partake in whats went on and how the band has just grown together and separately, will empower the audience. (Best sentence structure, I know...) But watching this just is honestly uplifting and reinforcing. It just makes things more meaningful. The spotlight, or just extra light thats been shed on some things that probably the general audience perceives from listening to a song, has been brightened in my opinion. I've listened to you guys since TOCS. As a pure "listener" I didnt apply a lot of the song context, childishly, to actual life events. But now 20 years older Ive seen how thiings have developed. Obviously not to any in depth extent. But I will say that this episode, and the others as well, just have heightened my love and respect for the band and the music and increased the love and passion that I have for this band. You guys have been a gateway into musically where I am now. And as an adult, just continually opens my eyes to so many things. For what its worth I really hope you guys keep finding strength in each other, separate or together to continue to put out just real and raw music. I love you guys and cannot wait to see you all live again and to just keep on getting fed more and more music. I cant wait to share with my daughter the band her daddy listened to when he was growing up. All the memories and feelings I have from the times I was listening to these songs and now getting a better grip on where they came from....its just crazy.

I feel like you guys can only go up from here! Voyeurist has really blown me away. It tugs at my heart strings, and every song feels so raw. I love the honesty in these podcasts. It’s hard to be honest with friends and family enough as it is, and you guys are putting this all out there for us fans and the world. This band has changed my life in so many ways and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to experience your shows live. Nothing beats the feeling you get at an Underoath show.
@JoeLaFon32 жыл бұрын
Aaron, my dude, it's real. Voyeurist is your 2nd wind towards your 3rd act of your career. When people think of genuine hardcore rock music, they think of Underoath. I still listen to TOCS/DTGL/LITSOS every single day. Those are some of my favorite records ever recorded. Voyeurist is a perfect blend of everything great about UOmusic. Your cleans on Numb and your other contributions on this record keep me alive.

I had not seen underoath ever; however, had been listening to them since I was 18 and let me just say that I agree with Spencer on it being an experience when these guys play live. The show at the Wiltern took me back to when I was younger going thru a bunch of issues and knowing that I was not alone. The show was awesome on all kinds of levels!!!

I really wonder what Erase me would have been like if Aaron sang more on that record! After hearing him talk about being passive during the writing process and facilitating himself from everyone after rejoining the band. I wonder how different that record would have sounded like

It would be interesting to see a Disambiguation Pt2 with Aaron getting his metal drumming on as justice for not being apart of Disambiguation. Even as a 5 track EP. Call up Daniel for some production as a throwback. Honestly a Disambiguation Pt2 EP would be really unexpected and very welcomed

First, I'd like to say I went to my first Underoath show last night and had a blast. I had a little bit of exposure to the band back in the day but only really got into you guys in recent years after Lil Peep sampled your songs. Secondly, I'm glad society has come a long way since the 2000s regarding substance use. I was taught DARE at school and learned it was bullshit the hard way as an adult after someone I knew died from an overdose. It was only after I had surgery several months ago and the drugs I was given during and after it that I began to have any understanding of what might compel someone to use. (As an aside, the surgery was for my almost-blind left eye. I'm a cyclops like Aaron.)
