Agree with you. It’s my favourite of the Tony Martin era albums. It doesn’t seem to get as much acclaim as The Headless Cross or even TYR

All of Iommi’s solo albums and Sabbath’s 13 kind of fell into that rut of retreading slow doomy riffs that sound like stuff from Master of Reality. On Eternal Idol he was on fire with fast thrashy and big majestic guitar playing.

Faster tempo songs are more fun to listen too, agreed. Nice collection.

In the late 80’s Tony Iommi was totally kicking ass on another level.

Nice review I enjoyed that. Post-Ozzy I prefer Gillan and Martin. Never could get into Dio.

Whoever was sing post Ozzy I think Iommi really upped his game with the riffs. He was evil and bluesy with Ozzy but later on he went full on majestic during the Martin years.

I think the B-side "Black Moon" is incredible, better than the later version they released. If I could pick one underrated album of Black Sabbath, it would be "Technical Ecstasy".

I think She’s Gone from technical ecstasy might be Ozzy’s most underrated vocal performance ever. He can jerk a tear out of you with that song. I’m going to like doing this series. I want to hear other fans think are underrated. I’m going to go through all the bands I already covered and a few more.

As far as I’m concerned anyone who likes Ozzy era only is missing the plot greatly. And Eternal Idol is one of those albums that’s essential listening for any HR/HM lover. 10/10 no skipping Tracks here 🤘

If you like Sabbath (Iommi's guitar playing in particular) or metal in general there's no excuse for them to skip this album. Iommi was on fire on this album. He drops some true malevolence on this album. Lost Forever is mean as hell. Anybody who won't give this album a chance is just because stubborn which is a weird trait in a lot of rock music fans.

@@BlackTerror I agree. Iommi is/was Sabbath. It’s his band. Not that drunken clown who fronted them in the seventies. Dio was a breath of fresh air to Iommi I could imagine. And Born Again and Seventh Star are awesome albums too. Iommi wanted to be more musical and with Ozzy they couldn’t achieve that. Contrary to popular belief it was Ozzy who wanted the band to stay the same. Iommi wanted to stretch out and grow Ozzy lied in eighties interviews saying the opposite. My view of Ozzy today is much different than it was back then. And it’s not a very nice one. So I’ll just keep it at that! 🤣

@@Mike-aka747 I like Ozzy, I love Tony, love Dio, love Tony Martin. I really hate Sharon. She ruined so many good things. (She's the actual Digital Bitch from the song!)

Yeah. As far as Separating the art from the person. I love his first 5 or 6 albums at least. But someday you may wanna read Bob Daisleys book. If you haven’t
