Omg an underrated book recommendations video/opinions!!! Tbh I love reading books no one else does I feel like it gives me a unique BookTube channel! I absolutely love the synopsis of You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone! I’ve added it to my TBR! I’ll read it in July as that my June TBR is super full (31 books!!!) Omg Sawkill Girls is on my TBR as well!!! I’m so glad you’re talking about this book and I’m excited to finally hear some thoughts on it. I’ve hardly seen it on BookTube I haven’t heard anything about Emmy and Oliver but I’m so excited to read it! I love contemporary books! I have Far on the Tree on my TBR and I can’t wait to read both!! Little Do We Know!!! This popped up in my recommendations on Goodreads, I read the synopsis and fell in love I haven’t had a chance to read it but I hope to get to it soon. A Heart in the Body of the World... I’ve heard a bit about it but haven’t had a chance to read it I hope to get to it soon! Okay so moral of the story apparently is i suck at keeping up to date on my reading books 📚😭 hopefully that can change very soon. Onto the adult contemporary books!! Will Taylor Jenkins Reid be on this list? I never heard of her books until I found your channel the. The seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo blew up everywhere but maybe some of her first novels? Like Maybe In Another Life or One True Loves or After I Do? Oooo the simple wild is right up my alley!!! I’ll be adding this to my very packed TBR shelf Oh Young Jane Young sounds good but slightly confusing with all those points of view! Sadly idk if I could handle a ton of POV in a book right now 😭 Watching You was on my TBR for awhile but I heard such mixed reviews on this book that I ended up taking it off recently and I’m not sure if I should put it back on my TBR Ha the Great Alone is the book of the month for a book club that I am in and I’m so excited to read it!!! It got so much hype in the votes that I surely hope it’s worth it 😂 I’ll be sad if it isn’t The immortalist sounds interesting... hmm very different from what I usually read Again another long comment from me and another amazing video from you!! I can’t wait to read the books you mentioned in this video and see if I enjoy them as much as you did! I love reading books no one knows about because I feel like it gives me a slight edginess to my channel I’m not like following the pack all the time and reading the same books and watching 5 TBR videos with the same 10 books on them! 😂😂😂 idk I’m weird to begin with so... nothing new for me lol

YES The Great Alone!!! Such a FANTASTIC book!! I try to get everyone to read it. I completely agree with your opinion on it being underrated. I actually mention it quite a bit on my channel. One of my favourite underrated books is The Last Unicorn by Peter S Beagle. It's an older novel and has a small cult following but it's such a fantastic whimsical fantasy novel.

I remember loving No Small Thing by Natale Ghent when I was younger. And one of my favourite books of all time is The Catcher In The Rye because I could actually resonate with the weird feelings Holden had. I've had anxiety and depression for a lot of my life and reading about another kid that had those similar problems as well resonated with me a lot. I know a lot of people hate it or don't get the character but usually those people tell me they've never dealt with those problems before so they don't understand it. I enjoyed it it a lot! Also he was dealing with grief just like I was!

One of my all time favorite books is The Cottingley Secret and The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter by Hazel Gaynor or anything by Hazel Gaynor. I think she does magical realism so well. I think all UKYA books are underrated! Sara Barnard's stories are incredible, Robin Stevens wrote one of my favourite series of all time, Holly Bourne and her “Spinster Club” trilogy, Lisa Williamson and so many more! I think more people should read them. I think people tend to sway away as they are obviously set in the U.K. and seemingly only apply to that demographic of people but when you think about it, everyone in England reads books about kids from America so what’s the difference? 🧸💕
@lisens24665 жыл бұрын

I would love to read Sawkill Girls, but I've read some reviews that some bits of the book were sexist against men. I saw some quotes where the main character is open about hating men. Is that true, in your opinion? I love mysteries and thrillers and horror books, and I love it when there's groups of girls as main characters. But I don't like when they're sexism because IMO one shouldn't put down another sex to put up your own. So I'm conflicted about this book.

I really disliked The Simple Wild. I feel like if I was coming from a different background I would’ve enjoyed it as far as the relationships go, but as someone who lived in AK for 30 years, the author gets so many things wrong about Alaska and technical things about the planes and whatnot. I know it’s nitpicky, but all of the inaccuracies really took me out of the story, especially because if she’d done two minutes of research she would’ve known better. Sorry for the mini-rant 😅 On the other end of the spectrum, The Great Alone is a phenomenal book that portrayed Alaska in a way that made me feel like the author actually KNEW Alaska (which she did). Everything about it felt so authentic to the reality of living in the bush from the quirky characters to the feeling of isolation that comes with living in such a remote area. It’s one of my favorite books. Also, just re-read Emmy & Oliver last month and still enjoyed it just as much as the first time I read it. 😊
