So on my first successful hardcore run of Subnautica, me and my Cyclops had a dangerous encounter with a Crabsquid in the Lost River. I put the the silent mode on, but it didn't help because the silent mode didn't turn itself on after an EMP attack. So the crab squid would just see me when the Cyclops turned on. Eventually, I snapped. I had concluded that either I force the creature to retreat, or I die. So I equiped my Repulsion Cannon, climbed out of the Cyclops, and spammed the weapon against the Crabsquid. I WON! My confidence against the game's dangerous animals went way up after this.

Nice. That's why the repulsion cannon is so underrated
@Perry_Wolf2 ай бұрын
With a Stasis Rifle, to hold him still, and a Thermoblade, it only takes about 7 or 8 hits to kill the Crabsquid. Chances are, the reason Silent Mode didn't work against the Crabsquid was because you were using the Cyclops' lights. Had you turned off all the lights, you could've scooted by unharmed, as the Crabsquid is attracted to and attacks light sources.

On your item ratings: Air Bladder: I always got the seamoth on the first day and never had the need for this. Just search in the Kelp Forest until you have the mobile vehicle bay and sea glide and then go to the big wreck in the grassy plateau biome. You'll also find a lifepod and some fragments on the way. Pathfinder Tool: Never got lost in my 200h of the game besides on my playthrough in the lost river (but with my cyclops on me). Just use beacons every time you find a new location. Creature Decoy: It is useless. I tried destroying my cyclops with the sea dragon and it only made 20% damage before it lost interest and swam away. You can also use the quiet mode to swim by (or ahead slow / flank). 4. Just build one base piece with 1 locker. It is a common beginner mistake to use the waterproof ones. It's utterly useless. 5. No one thinks that it's useless. Why did you assume that? 6. Seaglide.
@Supnautica2 ай бұрын
1. I'm no speedrunner I like to play the game slowly and enjoy it 2. Getting lost in wrecks really sucks. Also beacons won't always help you if you don't know the path 3. Yeah but having to repair it sucks I like to deploy a decoy and then forget about them 4. Waterproof lockers are great for putting extra stuff in when for example exploring wrecks and as I said I like to enjoy the game slowly. 5. Almost everyone I've asked or seen they are saying that the repulsion cannon is trash compared to the propulsion cannon 6. Again I like to play the game slowly so I don't always have the seaglide on the first hour I play. They're supposed to be an super early game alternative also the fact it doesn't despawn and you can still pick it up after being thrown makes it really useful in certain situations and as well scare away bonesharks for example

I COMPLETELY agree that the air bladder is probably one of THE MOST useful items in the entire game, but I don't think its value EVER fades away, as you progress, and nor do I think it's "useless" to replenish your oxygen with it, WHATSOEVER! In fact... this one, godly little tool has saved my life NUMEROUS times, playing hardcore, due PURELY to the fact that I CAN use it to replenish my oxygen, especially when exploring wrecks underneath the floating island, leaving my vehicle in the lost river/lava zone, and even for simply dodging being bitten by some of the larger carnivores, by using its extreme speed to my advantage. Like... take it from me; If you ever see the shadow of, or hear the scream of a reaper right next to you, and you're any more than 40 meters underwater, without a stasis rifle on you... just switch to THAT little thing and IMMEDIATELY shoot for the surface... the reaper won't even know where you WENT before you're already booking it for safety!

@@Supnautica , in what way is it useful? It is slow, unwieldy, and takes enormous resources. Anyone with a brain simply activates the fast travel network (with gates marked by beacons) and uses the PRAWN. The Cyclops is not fast, nor is it needed for any super long distance trips. The only reason people HAVE to build the damned thing is to fabricatwe the shield module for the Neptune.
@Supnautica2 ай бұрын
@@mrnickbig1 Fast ≠ Better. Yes it's slower than all the vehicles but it's tanky, it acts as a mobile base, has tons of storage, you can dock your prawn suit or seamoth there and is overall really cool. The fact that you don't have to bring massive supplies of food on your adventures and just plant a few things in your Cyclops is extremely useful.

Better yet, make repair tools with that sulfur and then take the batteries out, better if you are worried about copper

The air bladder is great, but only after they buffed it in BZ. When I first played it was useless. The others are all a waste of resources, sorry. *Especially* lockers. Just having them (and pipes) in the fabricator menus ruins many people's playthroughs.

1) The air bladder is buffed in the original after 2.0 2) They are not useless. I've had many situations where I found them really useful 3) I don't see how these items can ruin someone's playthrough

@@Supnautica #3, especially the air pump and pipes...I've seen so many players waste insane amounts of time trying to use these to get deeper, only to find they only go a very limited distance and you cant take them further into cave systems, only to the opening or a little ways in. And they're just janky and glitchy to use. Although it doesn't ruin a play through, it definitely sets it back a ways, and creates frustration, once you figure out how useless the things are!

Your very first point, early game prior to deaglide and youre in too deep. Thats no a positive for the bladder its a con on your play style. You know you can carry an extra tank as well... Getting lost in a cave... dont bother with your path finder make air tubes like a guide rope... Sorry not even concerned with your othe points given how lame your initial points are...
@SupnauticaАй бұрын
The air bladder is really good for getting really fast up even with the seaglide. Carrying an Extra O2 tank just takes up space in your inventory even when you can just only take up one. Crafting air tubes is just not efficient. You have to connect it to an air pump (I'm pretty sure) since it gets expensive over time while the pathfinder is just a one time thing and it even glows in the dark which helps you navigate easier.
@justaguylaughingАй бұрын
@@Supnautica a guide rope is a permanent installment and if you think titanium is expensive lol 😂 the extra tank doubles your o2 where the balder is a few extra seconds. The air tank is useful 100% of the time where the blader is only useful for people fkn up and nearly dieing.
@SupnauticaАй бұрын
@justaguylaughing So is the pathfinder. And it gets expensive over time if you have to constantly craft new pipes. And like I said the extra air tank just cramps up your inventory which is already a big problem in the game. And the air bladder allows you to stay underwater for a bit longer and you don't have to worry about the fact if you make it or not.
@justaguylaughingАй бұрын
@@Supnautica why would you have to craft keep crafting new pipes? You mean for a new cave yea that how lines work. Th3 key difference here is you dont have to keep carrying the pipe lole the finder and the pipes give you o2 unlike the pathfinder. Again the blader is a waste of space where as the tanknis well used space. No i dont think inventory is a problem, sounds more like a logistics failure to me.

@justaguylaughing Dude having to set up air pumps is such an inconvenient strategy and you're here complaining that the air bladder is useless or the other stuff. Jesus Christ you're so stubborn.
@firetitanyt153816 күн бұрын
0:59 using the air bladder for oxygen is busted even though it doesn’t seem like much they’re really cheap to make and you have multiple of them when you use an air bladder to give yourself oxygen it gives you 15 seconds which is huge the oxygen effect / how far it can push you up stacks… I usually carry four on me at all times when I’m in a cave or don’t the seamoth yet (seatruck if you’re playing bz) this way I’m able to easily go caves without in the early game worrying about my oxygen as much as I normally would… also a good rule of thumb is if you’re in a cave be prepared to use it for oxygen, but only use it if you know you’re not gonna make it and then once it’s used immediately swap out the used one for a fresh one in the inventory because it will save your life especially if you’re in a wreck… or playing hard-core

True but I've seen a lot of people just use it for oxygen and then they complain that it's ass. Could have worded that better
