Hello Frankie, Magic. The northside is like a foreign country to me but I would just love now aged 68 to take an intimate tour of Finglas for example. When I was a boy I was in Portmarnock strand a few times however and I have a close contact with a teacher in Portmarnock Community School dating back to 2001 who, believe it or not, sets the questions on the Leaving Cert applied maths paper. Leaving cert applied maths is so difficult that if the student answers a mere 3 out of the 6 questions expected they will get an A grade. Of course the airport, that used I think to be called Collinstown, is on the northside and this then connects so many with the northside. Afaik Ronan Keating is a northsider along with Bono for example. I also remember Rush and Skerries. All the best and many thanks, Peter Nolan. Dublin 6W.

I worked in Little Tikes for a summer, I use to get the 17A to it from Finglas, now when I see the 17A I break out in a cold sweat a feel violently sick, stay in school kids, or don't, but whatever you do don't work the night shift in a plastic factory fueled by speed and sodesco hash browns, it'll end badly for everyone. Also I went to the De La, which was fun, even when Hearty nearly killed the postman with a brick. Everyone should grow up in Finglas, but only a bit, and no one should stay there too long! PS: I'm glad I left Ireland before 'Yup' became a thing, I keep thinking of those yogurt drinks with the peal off lids. PPS: I love this series, its good humored, but it reminds me of why it'd be a bad idea to move home, just visit, grab a taco fries, then leave.

I was put in a house in Finglas last summer, when I was an exchange student from Hungary with one of my high school classmates. I have no good experience in this neighbourhood, let's just put it that way. Our host was a lunatic, the neighbourhood was so depressing we spent the whole day just wandering around in Dublin 1 or the docks, or just left Dublin for the countryside. Gladly, we were put in another house near the golf course which was much nicer. Its just crazy that a part of a city is so run down and so dangerous that people straight up just wanna run through it smh. Being from Hungary I was devastated to see this, even though we have sketchy neighbourhoods too but this was on another level. Just to name a few incidents: a horse outside a house, kids burning furniture, kid almost ran me over with his bicycle multiple times, being talked shit at, attempt made to sell me drugs. What the hell? Crazy people in Finglas. Luckily I befriended some local Hungarians and they enlightened me about Finglas and the situation there. They gave some advice on where to go in Dublin and Ireland so it was not too shabby.

I used to do FAS courses in Finglas, commuting it in on the coach from Dunshaughlin to Phibsboro and getting the 17 bus from there via Glasnevin and later on, attending other courses in the Superquinn training centre in Finglas when I was in Superquinn Blanchardstown

I remember living above a butcher shop in Finglas and being told that Finglas East was for poshos. We lived on John Player Blue, bottles of coke and Brennans Wholegrain. Those were happy days.

Should also include the hidden Finglas. Rural and North Finglas. Rivermeade estate in Toberburr in the middle of nowhere, served by the famous 40b. And rural Finglas on the Ashbourne Road, featuring the dspca centre and the Brock Inn, and these days served by bus éireann route 103

I went to see David McSavage do a gig in Lucan a few weeks back. The group of fairly rowdy (but genuinely lovely and salt of the earth) folks shared the table with us due to lack of space. By the end of the show, EVERYONE in the gaff knew they were from Finglas... They made sure to tell us...

Went to DCU. Lived in Willow Park, which is only not Finglas if you're an estate agent. Same when I lived on Old Finglas Road. Maybe it's my paranoia, but this video series seems like a critique on my life.
@markbrennan212 Жыл бұрын
Willow Park was never Finglas. It was Ballymun for a few years, then changed to Glasnevin 😂
@Clodaghbob Жыл бұрын
@@markbrennan212 It was never Glasnevin. It’s Glasnevin North, ya ignoramus! Glasnevin is on the sunny side of Ballygall with the one and a half million dead bodies. There are no dead bodies in Glasnevin North. You’re not allowed to keep them. If you have one, it’ll be taken away …by law. 🤣😂🤣
