Im so glad you mentioned between perfect and real! I have just passed it on to someone close to me who at 12 is questioning their gender and as a queer but cisgender person I dont know how to help them but this book will hopefully say things I don't know how to.

If you're wanting some middle grade trans recs there's one's like Melissa by Alex Gino, Too Bright To See by Kyle Lukoff. But there's also graphic novels that are good too like Witch Boy by Molly Ostertag and The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang. It's so great that you're there to help them through this. The biggest thing is always just acceptance. You don't have to understand gender questions all you have to do is accept how they're feeling, it honestly means the world.

Same thing happened to me with Instagram. But I watched a video from one of the people I'm subbed to and she explained it a bit while showing photos. Supposedly someone put in their story that their page was a 'safe space' for anti LGBTQIA+ people and that if people didn't like that to unfollow and other people started to stand up for it and agree. So people retaliated by posting rainbow stacks and saying that their pages were safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ people hence why so many people were posting it on their pages and stories. The channel Happy For Now has it on her channel, the part starts at the 'just being hateful' time stamp, if you wanna see photos and more info (if you wish to).
