This guy is a star. Hilarious facial expressions, great humour, great teacher, down to earth and totally wacky. Love him, love him, love him.

I love this. Everyone teaches you the scales, but when you're self-teaching no one tells you the purpose of certain notes and what they're good for. The whole tension description makes so much sense!

Struggling with the same problem. Learning to play songs on the guitar is pretty easy. However, once a little bit of music theory kicks in...

CSP Yup, properly understanding keys and constructing chords outside of the regular major and minor chords just kill me off. You're not alone.

I found that taking just a very, very brief look at the science beneath the music helped me understand and also visualize what it is all about. Only a brief look mind you. I recommend it to anybody interested. It doesn't complicate things at all it is really revealing to just look at frequencies and how the root - 4th - 5th notes tessellate which is why you get perfect consonance. It also helped me understand exactly what an Octave is - middle 'A' = 440Hz, one Octave higher = 880Hz and then 1760Hz and so on. One Octave lower than middle 'A' would then be 220Hz. Lower Octave = 110Hz. Enlightening. You could mic up just about anything around the house, fling it thru a Wah Wah peddle, kick it with your foot and tune it to middle 'A' 440Hz using your software and then make a composition out of pure noise LOL!

When I was learning guitar my teacher only allowed me to use the major and minor pentatonic scales when soloing. After that he opened my solo's to full scales. My solos went from bland to sounding more melodic and full. Now 20 years later, Modes finally made sense to me and solos have gotten even better. Breaking out of the box shape arpeggios also helped.

Bram Leferink I know people r brand snobs cuz I swear squiers aren’t bad granted I haven’t played a ton of better guitars but I have played worse
@echoblann41416 жыл бұрын
Completely. I'd rather have an unusual, even unique guitar with an original sound that's great to play. As long as it has a great sound a great action and intonation I think. I don't know why people go straight for the Strat or Les Paul with out thinking beyond how it looks on Clapton, Hendrix or Page. Those people most often play and sound as predictable as their tastes. Oh wait ... Is that reverse snobbery now?? Oops!

Claus is simply different than so many other great teachers out there ... you learn a lot from them ... yes ... but HIS ENTHUSIASM and as good as "theatrical skills" when something is "right" or "wrong" ... I mean ... you can SEE when a note may belong in the scale but not in the ear! You can SEE when something is "nice" or "tough" or whatever. Others may just babble along ... which makes the process of learning booooooring! Claus makes it fun! ;O)

Hi Claus. When i go to your website, what is the program and system that you have come up with that teaches you to use the arpeggios as you show in this video. To solo over chord to chord and to go from chord note to chord note. Plus i never found the other vid that was part two of this vid, i could not find it in the link. Thanks Clause you are a pleasure to watch play and teach. I love it when someone who try's to show me something is so passionate about what there showing me. Cheers.

Amazing explanation for someone who knows the piano and guitar, but I need to ask: In the chords, when "going somewhere" do I have to end on the root note for the chord, like C major = C note? Or Is it between the 3 notes for the C chord. Like can I finnish on the secound note that is played on the piano for C Major when I am "going somewhere"? Make sense?

I learn to play guitar all alone without a teacher. I always learn how to play by ear. For me, if the note doesnt fit then its not part of the scale. This lesson right here changes my perspective. I will drown my self with music theories now. I already know pentatonic and major scales. Any idea whats the best lesson i should learn next?
@govindwagh2805 жыл бұрын
Go for chords and minor scale. U can go for caged system and circle of fifth. Go slow. You will learn it easily. Go for arpeggios and all over neck.
