Excellent video! I never realized how important it is in my sewing process to understand how a stitch is created. It helped to better understand what makes a stitch look good, how important needle, thread, and presser foot choices are, and most importantly why you get thread shreds or snaps, skipped stitches, or loops. Thank you, Bernina, for this video and the Part 2 of Understanding the Stitch.

Debbie, Could you please cover the position of different fabrics in relation to presser foot or feet dogs and how this will effect stitch balance in your up coming webinar. i.e. boucle to lining fabric or interfacing. Thanks.

Debbie I really enjoyed the part on the Bernina hook. I have the original hook in my 8 series, 830 Bernina. Should I have the original hook removed and upgrade to the new hook system?

What size of needle and thread one can use when sewing faux vinyl and water proof canvas?
@BerninaInternational

Working with vinyl is a bit more tricky because the needle will put a hole in the vinyl. Ripping out stitches is not really an option. If the hole in the fabric is too large, then the vinyl will perforate and fall apart. So because of that, choose your thread weight wisely. The needle size is chosen based on the weight of the thread, and somewhat on the weight of the fabric as well. If the thread is heavier, then the needle must be larger to accommodate for the thread size. I would recommend to use up to a size 90 needle, and a longer stitch length may be needed as well. The best thing to do is to test sew with various threads and needle sizes until the stitching appears to your liking.

Believe the 8 series bobbin is slightly different in size than the 7 series ?

They hold approximately the same amount of thread, but you're right, they are slightly different!
