What an excellent start to the much-anticipated Understanding America series! This episode provided valuable insights into the historical context of this world region and how it evolved into what it is today. I’ve taken note of the book reference mentioned and will certainly be ordering it. I truly appreciate this approach and hope you continue sharing book recommendations with each episode. Ultimately, this series should aim to build a comprehensive mental model of America’s global dominance-how it began, how it expanded its influence, and, as a request, also explore the consequences this has on the rest of the world today. Perhaps we can even gain insights into where it’s headed in the future. I wholeheartedly agree that the focus should be on understanding without judgment or biases that could distort the historical narrative. This is an incredible beginning. Wishing Abhijit Sir great success with this podcast-your dedication shines through! And thank you, Kheersana Ma’am, for hosting such a thought-provoking discussion. Hopefully, this journey will help us learn the history of this part of the world in a truthful way, free from the distortions of our biased textbooks.

Excellent episode, great start. Loved the entire podcast. Learnt a lot of new information. Thank you for picking up this topic. Sometimes we don't know what we want and then someone thinks of it and one realizes oh, that's what I wanted. I feel this is going to be an excited journey. Thank you for all your efforts. I understand the the views on the videos are not as large as it should be given the effort you make, this is sad on audience part but we , the little audience, truly appreciate what you do. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are great. 2 hours of your podcast goes by like time flies off. One request though, 100 episodes on just USA, I am not sure the topic will need these many, do try to make 20 odd episodes, I mean I am just guessing if 100 is what it needs then so be it. I am all for it. Once again, Thank you.

There were other voyages to the Americas by Vikings, Welsh, Gaelic. They made it farther South. St Brendan the Explorer, Prince Henry Sinclair, John Cabot was following stories from Sailors. Chicora tells Allyon of the stranded Gaelic descendants who lived in Duhare. Peter Martyrs De Orbe Novo tells it truly.

Big fan of your work, AC-I've been following your content for four years! However, the podcast feels cluttered with unnecessary details that one may forget in a few days or weeks-heck, even you might forget some of them! No one has that much time. I suggest condensing it into 10-20 episodes to focus on the essentials rather than stretching it over 100+ episodes.

I love the idea. A great book on American history I've read is by Loewen-Lies my teacher told me. I had a question around 43:30 where it was said the natives could be attracted by the shining beads.. I forgot what Columbus used to coerce the natives other than violence but I remember from the book I noted that they were wearing earrings of gold and jewelry and that Columbus' pirates were shocked at the plentiful supply of precious stones..he went back and convinced the crown to give him more ships to plunder the country..and used the natives to mine for as much as their land held (oh this was mentioned at 54:30)..in the process killing the majority of the people through inhuman conditions and plain murder (ahh you mentioned this at the end 1:14:00 but the thing is De La Casas was there from the beginning..it seemed he was always bothered by the atrocities and that's why Columbus was arrested upon his return to Europe..of course he got out...interesting, I have to re-read this area)..so that he had to look elsewhere for 'help' and got slaves from Africa who were hardier and didn't die as easily from the brutal treatment..and that's how the Caribbean became populated by African people and we got jerk chicken......at least that is the version I read.
