Thank you for sharing this topic. I'm currently working on my PhD dissertation of childhood emotional maltreatment and its influence/impact on adult attachment and adult romantic relationships. In your studies, how do you relate anxious attachment with adult attachment patterns: secure, preoccupied, dismissive, or fearful?

29:03 - I’m a recovering fearful avoidant 😢 I’ve been single for the past five years and I did SO MUCH WORK on myself. So I’m 60% secure, and 40% fearful avoidant. This past 6 months, I have been intentionally dating and I am most comfortable with dismissive avoidants. I steer very clear of anxious attached men, which to be fair there’s very few of them in Nairobi

Well am definitely an avoidant and I definitely find myself with anxious people. It's good because I always felt anxious traits like being clingy were some kind of manipulation. Now it's clear

Watching this has made me realise that i've not been the problem to my failed relationships as i thought , am just an anxious who unfortunately meets avoidants...But honestly guys, my experience with avoidants makes me ask myself a lot of questions, i feel like my needy and clingy character is a redflag and that's why they left,however, i just think that i get and deal with wrong men..

I'm really curious about this study in that, did it factor in the children's personalities, the home situations they came from? Think there is a possibility that this study had loads of variables
@chrissy962 жыл бұрын
I think the home situations helped form the type of attachment. Interesting that you brought up the aspect of personality, because now I want to read up on the study even more. I'm currently reading 'The body keeps the score' by Bessel van der Kolk (a book about childhood trauma) and this study is mentioned in it.
