I heard some one say "I stopped calling it endometriosis and started calling it chronic peritonitis - now people take my pain seriously." I think this video captured that concept so well!

Prude Baloyi, I’m here with you. You aren’t alone! It’s been 12 years of pain and I am finally in the process of getting diagnosed now. Surgery is next. Read the book “The Doctor Will See You Now” by Dr Seckin. It really helps! I’m no longer able to work, mostly homebound, can’t eat anymore because the pain is too great. It’s been three months since you posted, I hope you are doing as well as can be with this atrocious disease.

Hi Prude, you’re definitely going to overcome this. Have you tried to change your diet? So many people testified online that it really improves the condition and eradicate it in the long term. I would advise plant based diet and staying off dairy foods for now. You should see improvements in less than 3months. For the record, I’m not a doctor but a strong believer of bringing healing to our bodies through natural fresh food which I used to heal ovarian cysts completely 2 years ago. Stay strong

I was diagnosed in 2017- I had a pelvic ultra sound done where they found a cluster of three chocolate cysts on my right ovary. Because of my very limited insurance at the time I didn't want to do surgery, I didn't want to have a medically induced menopause and I felt the many different low dose birth control options we were trying were making my symptoms worse. I stopped taking the bc, quit my highly stressful job, and dove deeper with my movement practice. I've been working on my hormone imbalance with adjusting my diet and doing my best not to stress. Just had my yearly well Woman exam and not to get my hopes too high, but my new Dr said everything looked normal on my pelvic ultrasound. I hope it stays normal- I haven't had a cyclical flare up in many months! Speaking only from my personal journey: Stress management, diet and any exercise or movement of anykind that you can do as often as you can will help regulate your hormones and ideally help bring your body back to "normal".

I know that the video is 5 years old, but the information is extremely useful and simply explained. Another Endometriosis symptom worth highlighting is low egg reserve. Women with Endometriosis tend to have a decreased ovarian reserve, compared to similarly aged healthy women or women with other benign ovarian cysts.

I just had a hysterectomy today with removal of my fallopian tubes and ovaries. I have PMDD and PCOS, so this surgery was a worst case scenario for PMDD relief. When i woke up this afternoon my doctor came in and told me that he'd found endometriosis! I've been unable to get pregnant and figured it was PCOS that prevented that. I've had numerous ultrasounds and was always told everything was healthy and previous doctors wouldn't let me have a hysterectomy. I delt with the symptoms for over 15 years and was gaslit by so many doctors. This new doctor who performed my surgery instantly said yes and helped me! If you're experiencing issues like i did, please keep searching for help. Don't give up! Now I'm recovering and am so thankful i had the surgery!!

It’s also hard to know what is normal pain and what isn’t. I thought I just had pretty painful periods, but it’s been getting worse since I had my second child. I finally suffered long enough and told my doctor how bad it was. I just had a hysterectomy a couple of weeks ago, and I had quite advanced endometriosis and a huge chocolate cyst on one of my ovaries.

I was diagnosed in 1990 at the age of 16. Laporascopy was done when I was 30, tried all but the coil during the first two yrs. The treatments weren’t helping so I just dealt with it. At the age of 40, I had another laporscopic procedure and as my doc put it I was in severe Stage IV. Long story short, I had a c-section to ‘deliver’ a uterus, both ovaries, and fallopian tubes. It was so bad the adhesions were pulling it all together my stomach was shaping into a point. Please take care of yourselves and luckily Endometriosis is finally getting recognized. ps I had two miscarriages and accepted the fact I wouldn’t be able to have children.

Having endometriosis has ruined my life. No gynaecologist would take me seriously and one even said my pain was psychosomatic due to abuse. I've had surgery to remove it which has failed as the adhesions have come back worse. I don't want to bore you with every operation and hospital visits plus its traumatic to talk about it. I've ended up with an indwelling catheter for 13 years now. Hysterectomy etc and stage 3 rectum prolapse. If this was happening to men no offence meant, it would of been looked into and studied more. 😡😤😢

Hallo my dear! Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I have endometiosis myself and it is terrible. If you make a new video about it, it would be great to add: 1. symptom: excessive pain during intercourse. And as a treatment: alternative medicine helps a lot more than the "regular" one. For examle: not eating - drinking cow products, the homoeopathic medicine Agnus Castus made by chaste fruit, special teas, the ultimate medicine especially during mentruation: cannabis and a looot of meditation ! Good luck ladies! We got this!

Thank you for this video. It’s very informative and just what is needed to show what exactly this disease is, how it works, and the basics. One huge part of education is how much this effects women’s lives. It is a chronic, debilitating condition that has four stages. Many sufferers can no longer work, go to school, watch and raise their kids. This condition can be severely debilitating and deserves the reverence that other diseases have. Please do you research before you go under the knife, no matter how desperate you are. Read “The Doctor Will See You Now” and educate yourself on the ABC technique through incision. Ablation only creates more pain, most of the time. That’s why the “golden standard” is excision surgery. Thank you for explaining the difference between cyclical and non-cyclical pain. Because of this cycle, endometriosis can turn into a chronic pain condition. As time goes on, it can affect other areas of the body, because the body tries to guard against the pain and inflammation. I hope any of you suffering know you’re not alone! It can feel like that, but hold on. You’re going to get through this!

Very informative video! It is worth noting that endometriosis is similar, but not identical, to the endometrium. Endometriosis has also been found in males, foetuses and areas far outside the pelvic cavity such as the lungs, liver, nose and brain. This demonstrates that retrograde menstruation is at best a contributor to endometriosis development, but certainly not a sole cause. Unfortunately most endometriosis treatment seems to be based on this theory, to the point I had a gynaecologist dismiss symptoms as birth control had 'worked' because it stopped my period and therefore backflow of blood! More research is definitely needed.

I'm 34 years old. I have stage 4 endometriosis and 2 endometrioma cysts on my right ovary. One being 10cm big now. I had surgery a year ago to remove a 10cm cyst on my right ovary and now it's back with an additional cyst. I'm scheduled for surgery again in just over a week from now for my gynae to remove the cysts and once again cauterize the endometriosis. Also, when she operated on me last year, she saw that my left ovary was stuck to the back of my uterus because of the endo and when she tried to remove it it started bleeding so she decided to leave it there as not to do damage. My gynae is hesitant to remove my ovary because she doesn't want to put me into early menopause at my age as she says this could shorten my lifespan. But she said if there's too much damage done to the ovary then she will probably try to remove it and if she sees that it is stuck to my bowel because of the endo she might leave a piece of my ovary behind as not to cause damage to my bowel. She says if the cysts come back again after this and I'm closer to 40 she will consider doing a hysterectomy but she is sceptical because if my uterus is stuck to my colon due to the endo she might land up damaging my colon and I might land up having a colostomy bag 😭 And I do actually think my uterus is stuck to my colon because when it's around my period time I get really sharp pains like there's something sharp up my butt poking me. The surgery I had done last year and the one I'm about to have is done by keyhole surgery. I'm hopeful but afraid at the same time. I would love to get a hysterectomy and just get this over with but it's tricky because of the damn endometriosis.

@tamrynhayne5142
@tamrynhayne5142 24 күн бұрын
I'm so sorry @brenda. It truly is a terrible thing to go through. I had my surgery in March to remove the cyst and then it came back with a vengeance so I had another surgery in June and my doctor landed up taking out 90% of both ovaries. She couldn't take them out fully because they were stuck together (something called Kissing Ovaries) at the back of my uterus AND stuck to my uterus which is severely stuck to my colon. I was hoping this surgery would help but it's only been 3 months and I'm already starting to feel the cyst pain again. So I'm not sure what's going on. I need to wait till next year July for my sick leave to renew because I don't have any sick leave left and I can't undergo more surgery until then. So I'm just going to hang in there and hope for the best... I'm also thinking of getting another opinion from someone else. Maybe I can get a hysterectomy after all which will hopefully solve most of my issues... But then I'm at high risk of getting a colostomy bag because of how badly the endo has attached my uterus to my colon. 😢 I hope that you manage to get through yours. Endo warriors is what we are ❤ Stay strong and keep being resilient. This just makes us stronger.

In the past there used to be a lot less troubles with painful periods (and diseases which caused them). With endometriosis, the more periods you have, the worse endometriosis becomes. In the past women had a lot less periods than today - they started having children earlier, they had a lot of children, a lot of pregnancies and that resulted in hundreds of periods less than the number of periods women have today. That's why in the past this wasn't really such a problem as it is today.

So that leaves me at stage 2, which is ridiculous to me considering my periods were more painful than the surgery was to cut it out. This disease and the lack of understanding behind it and the staging of it irritates tf out of me.

@@kimohimo60 Second opinion. I was told all that time that I was wrong, that my symptoms don't match, that it was "normal" pain (no pain is normal). You know your body, and you deserve to be listened to and treated seriously. Ultrasounds often miss Endometriosis (mine did!) and they aren't a definite test. Make a fuss! Demand a second opinion, demand to see a specialist, demand that their words (your pain is made up, I'm refusing a laparoscopy, etc) are recorded. It's not an easy thing to accomplish and sometimes it takes a lot of fighting that it shouldn't have to, but you deserve to be properly taken care of and treated seriously ❤️❤️❤️

@@UtterQueerNightmare but the thing is where I live there aren’t even that good specialists and the biggest gynecologist here said that my pain is nothing and I don’t get heavy periods so it might not be that and most important of all my parents refuse to acknowledge this is a issue

@@kimohimo60 That's a difficult situation, it sounds like you've been through a lot. I'm not sure where you are, but if you're in the UK, you might need to see about going private. You'd need to save up, but it might give you some more freedom in choosing your next steps. I'm sorry but I don't really know of many other options. You might also benefit from trying things like a keto diet (good for inflammation) and keeping a diary of how it affects your symptoms. Keto can be pretty bad for people who don't have inflammation issues, so if it helps with your pain, it might make your parents/GP take you a bit more seriously. I know it's so difficult and you have my utmost respect for what you're going through ❤️

can this happen to someone post-menopausal?...I've had an ultrasound which shows 'several' cysts and an endometrium of 12cm , I'm 62, waiting for my local hospital to find me an appt slot to see a consultant. I've had terrible periods in my past, plus an ectopic which almost ended me in 1987 when it ruptured. My menopause passed without event and I am worried now it's all back to haunt me.

They found endometrioma on my left ovary. I never even suspected I had endometriosis because I was 43, I had one child which was conceived quite easily, I never experienced any problems with pain during periods or heavy bleeding or other symptoms. Only when the endometrioma started to grow larger I had pain and pressure on the abdomen. Before that - nothing. Does anyone else had a similar experience?

Endometriosis is endometrial LIKE tissue it is not the same. Endometriomas are chocolate cysts, they are not different. Lumps are called nodules. There are varying types of lesions. Please stop perpetuating this myth. Retrograde has been ruled out because it has been found in men, fetuses, lungs, brains. Plus the lesions don't show they have been "seeded". Lesions also create their own hormones which is why pain is felt throughout the month for some people. Please research this via the centre for endometriosis care. Note Dr Sinervo.
