For some reason I think some people are mistaken about Gen-Z and they tend to think that all this group does is content creation, that is just a fraction of the whole group. However, this generation has the best exposure to technology. I also tend to accept what CT is saying despite being a Gen-Z. As people grow older, priorities change, children need your time= less rest. You somehow grow to be your parents. Let's also give credit where due, previous generations have done a lot to ensure the technology is where it is. The things we do now are due to what our previous generations have done.

the millenials in general probably know tech better than gen z tbh. the generation that built safaricom transitioned from tech like computers not being so widespread, to even figuring out how to mend and modify the hardware, and how the hardware and software changed over their liftime -- from vista, to windows 7, to windows 10 etc. but ware also at a crisis in history that older generations are a bit in shock and in denial. we can forgive them for the conditions that they grew up in, and the conditions that made their elders (the end of colonialism etc.). but i dont think we can rest society at the feet of our elders cause they didnt make it. i mean even very recently we are forced to import waste from around the world, and we are forced by external forced to have a very insubstantial economy. thats why people look for content creation as a means to making money, its too expensive to build robots in kenya, and even still regardless to built robots (for example) we would probably need materials from zambia congo etc. so we would need an international supply chain... my point is you cant understand gen z, or gen x or boomers without understanding the society that made them and in turn what made their society.

Brilliant conversation - I really liked CT and Ndu’s points about the cycle of change being constant. Gen Z have definitely challenged the status quo but I think their impact is also felt so much because the environment they have grown up in has also changed drastically - climate change, technology, social media, mental health awareness etc have all combined to make a marked shift in the environment we live in.

My grandfather rode a camel, my father rode a camel, I ride a Land Rover, my son rides a Mercedes, my grandson will ride a camel again." Sheikh Rashid. Its cyclical. When the generations get too comfortable, and do not struggle, all progress goes back to zero. Great analysis though.

whoever thinks academic writing is easy, should think again. I hate that thing, same way, getting money easily is not true at all. IT technologies are not a walk in the pack, but I am extremely worried if the only thing that could be called work is trending and influencing through content creation(majorly dances, nudity, craziness and the likes), am not certain how long that will sustain our Gen-Z bros and sisters.

Really good convo and important. I think CT did a marvelous job explaining the generational issues and similarities and providing wisdom. However, GenZ are literally the answer we have been waiting for and praying for since independence! Just imagine: the vast majority want to be self employed! Hurrah! Let's provide the enabling environment. Enough with the 16-20 years of schooling just to compete for a government job and a "secure retirement"!!! GenZ are living how God meant us to live; work smart, have abundance, so that you can spend enough time on the things that really matter - family, relationships, mental health, enjoying life on planet earth. We were not born to be slaves! Look, economies change. I was deep in the IT revolution as a GenX. Deep. We developed the digital economy in the 1990s because we were fed up with the template of the Boomers before us! We had a philosophy for life and ideology that was implemented through tech. When we started, the Boomers, like Bill Gates Jr. Specifically, called the internet - and I quote: FROTH!!! IN 2021, THE digital economy contributed $3.1 TRILLION to the US economy! One year alone! If that's "froth", pass me more TUSKER! BTW the Boomers derisively called us (GenX) slackers, in the media they controlled. They were just jealous we were undermining them and making our own path. We succeeded and now GenZ is bearing fruit. I am So proud of my GenZ children.

Floods!? Is this a time to joke about floods? Oh no! Gen-Z? A phrase that annoys me when they escape taking responsibility where I work. Kenya is a country that relies on planting food to survive and keep livestock. If Gen-Z is only about fame and money to have fun and this so called 'fame' when a huge percentage of them do not know how to plant a potato for their KFC fries!?

1. Gen Z, and as manifested here by Joybella are delusional and are not looking at critical things while ignoring critical elements of how things work. There are processes and parts of the economy that need to move so that money you talk about gets to you. That person paying you for 'influencing' needs to have made their money somewhere somehow and those are the hard parts that Joybella doesn't want to be part of 2. The older generations will continue controlling critical components of how market economics work and how money is made for much longer into their lives because Gen Z are not getting in to grab those opportunies or bring competition in those sectors. they are only looking at those soft parts that are glorified. 3. Eventually, Gen Z will need to do that work anyway, if it will be in their 40s or 50s? but sure enough they will need to put in the work. Those farms that produce the food you need to eat will need to be tilled. Someone will need to do it one day and no one will do it for free and no one will get free food. 4. About incomes, we are already seeing this today, Gen Z are earning much less money in real terms that their previous generations. They are starting working much later in their lives, but somehow, they are content with the situation. 5. Finally, yes the Gen-Z workforce is indeed lazy, but it's not something specific to individuals. It is just the way the whole pace of life is at this point in the history of mankind. Even if CT was born in 90s and was a Gen-Z today, he would most likely be manifesting similar traits

Pewa mbili baridi on my tab!! Certainly there will be more efficient tech-enabled ways of doing things but there has to be an equilibrium in every system and the global economy is no exception. This one was given a gold visibility opportunity by the employer but sadly she has just "Shat" on it for lack of a better word. Some researched have already shown that working from home is significantly contributing to depression. For some people the work place is the only place the get their dose of social interaction!!
