Great video. I really like that you explained everything. Too often in Blender tutorials, the instructor tells you how to achieve a certain effect by adjusting various parameters, but they don't explain what those things do or why you'd want to use them. Thanks.

This video cleared up a lot of my questions. The content, the pace, and the flow were all perfect. I have found that the best approach for me, is to watch the video in its entirety, maybe a couple of times, before attempting to duplicate in a version of my own. As a complete noobie, I have to catch everything as it unfolds and cannot claim success until my output is the same as yours. But, the effort is very worthwhile and your video is just what I have been looking for. Thanks very much!

I found another way to make the backdrop is to select the back edge and extrude it vertically. Next, select the line that intersects the horizontal and vertical planes and click Ctrl+B to Bevel it. Scroll until you have 6 or so divisions. What's great is the bevel perfectly rounds it off which is nice!

2 shorter workflows backdrop: 1- create a plane (+ edit mode and select the back edge) 2- extrude the edge ('E' + 'Z' to guide the extrusion straight up) 3- select the corner and create a bevel (command B (macos) +scroll up to get 6 segments + enter or click to confirm 4- hit Tab to get out of edit mode + right click the backdrop and select 'shade smooth' positioning camera view: 1- position the view in 'object mode' and click ' view' > Align view > Align active camera to view

Hi! How to have N color combinations but only use a few times allowing enable and disable some of these colors? Example: A cube with the object's default color. One color for the top face. Another color for the top and side faces. Without losing this setting, I would like to turn on the second color without losing the third. I understand that I can put all the same colors in the slots and swap but as the slots don't have names, it's hard to remember that index 1 is the top and index 2 is the top and side. Is there an easier way to manage this?

So should i ditch all the other 3D programs and just go with Blender? Im struggling.
@Chocofur5 жыл бұрын
It really depends. Blender is a great overall 3D tool that fits both full time 3D freelancers and people doing the creative works in general. If you want to aim for 3DCG / VFX industry specifically, sooner than later you'll have to learn additional software other than Blender. It's simply because the CG/VFX industry got so specialized and diversified you can't do everything with one software only.
@yeetus88705 жыл бұрын
You also have to keep in mind that Blender isn't very widely used in the industry and there's a reason why it's open source and free. Other programs like 3Ds Max and Maya, UE4 etc are important to learn if you want to work for a studio
