Much has been said about the crisis in South Africa. It seems however that little attempt has been made to understand the crisis in South Africa. In other words, not only to know about loadshedding, curruption, unemployment, crime and so forth, but to understand what is happening. Even though this video is not comprehensive enough, the point here is to elaborate on some of the bigger picture issues that we should take note of with regard to South Africa.

@@millanbruce3798 ALL political parties are the same globally (especially in South Africa) with no exception! the partisan system is a problem globally, remember that South Africa belongs to the global community which is mainly controlled by a select few. No matter which party comes into power, it will always be the same until the global system changes. Liberating the people will only happen if or when the true powers that be decides they want it to happen. PA, ANC, DA, etc none of them have what it takes to tackle the global powers.

Most of my Afrikaner friends have their own businesses, and I think we are just resilient in that way. Must say my favourite clients are black people, they are funny and so optimistic. I think the media & politics puts out a very untruthful picture of how the normal day to day citizen gets along with each other. I would like to see more positive news on the media, but that does not sell I suppose. Hope we can turn this country around, I'm very optimistic about that.

Good day, You are so right on your comment. The question to ask is you deal with so many blacks on a daily basis yet why haven't they killed you? remember you are a boer. 2nd question to ask is why do white people deliberately refuse our explanation? Remember it's our song.. Malema spoke about peace all over the world on that speech and yet the only thing that whites heard was murder. Those murders are crime and are not unique to farmers. Affriforum took that opportunity to mobilize white people and incite fear on them based on the reality that murders do take place on farms. Trust me black people have no interest in killing you not even Malema, He lives in a white suburbs, wear white clothes, eat white food, uses the whites phone....it goes on and on... if he kills you he will lose all those. Malema once made a statement that white people are like trees.... and we know we can't leave without them. Just because he fights white privilege & racism and threatens to take farms Affriforum placed "swart gevaat" in whites mind...yet they are your clients.. I know it doesn't sound fair to lose the farm you bought.. that's another topic...but Affriforum connected the dots to use this even though it's far from the truth. The problem is that whites don't often commit such crimes in south africa... they are mainly done by black and being black myself I do acknowledge that.. but that doesn't mean whites are not capable.. Krugersdorp is proof and it was initially believed they were black.. No black person came out and said we will kill boere because malema said so...as a matter of fact all blacks even some whites come out and defended the song...yes it may be offensive to a different audience...why don't you believe us when we sayy we won't kill you it's just a song. Lastly go do research on mapungubwe it's also on youtube...you'll see you have been lied to about black south african history.. Oragne is doing the same thing..."Mandela don't exist in their history and that is what they teach their children.. Don't always believe what your own teach you... I know when you oppose them they excommunicated you and call you all sorts of names like "Kaff*R Boetie... they tried that with Charles Theron and she said what she said about Afrikaans because the was deliberately forced to joing Affriforum and that aggravated her.. look at the DSTV Challenge Afrikaners are always forces to join even if they know it wrong... DSTV is owned by whites.

As a black parent I can tell you that even our history is not told properly. My children often come home and question what the teacher or textbook says . They are able to do that because as a parent I decided to be in charge of what they learn politically . I want my kids to know the truth so my kids also know about political figures such as Delarey and other political factors which shaped where we are today. It may be controversial to some but I feel its important for children to learn about all political figures and understand why they are lauded as heroes by their communities even if media or society doesn't recognise them. So with that I say visit both black and white monuments , museums etc.

Very interesting video. The ANC seems to be profoundly rotten to the core. The corruption, and incompetence has made a huge mess. Some ministers are incapable of even looking coherent in interviews and they defend policies that make no sense at all if the priority was anything other than protecting endemic corruption. It's sad to see what has become of South Africa. This is a timely warning to other countries, including New Zealand, where out current governments actions has some real similarities with the ANC.

One very important item not mentioned, although obliquely, is the role of excellent education amongst Afrikaners. Attaining an excellent education was of the highest priority amongst many Afrikaner families. It is essentially education that divides South Africans - not politics. As when any person is well educated, they have the cognitive filters to see through the paranoia and falsehoods promoted/stoked by - let's get down to brass tacts - intellectually lazy politicians. Therefore having excellent educational institutions that are blind to political influence, is vital towards building a citizenary that have an independent personal identity outside of state influence and state dogma. Education frees the mind from becoming captive/enslaved to propaganda and state control. Education is the foundation stone of individualism of mind and purpose. Many African families see the value in a good education and are therefore far less influenced by state and party politics; and in this lies the future of South Africa.

I think the biggest mistake we made is having MPs be from party selection. Every area of South Africa should have an MP. I agree South Africa has gone through a lot of the social challenges that other countries will still face. A functional multi cultural society is one where we acknowledge our differences and work together using each other's strengths. We aren't there yet but there's already some examples where goodwill + good governance is enough to send a community in the right direction. The next 5 or 10 years are probably going to be tough but there might be great things on the other side if we can hold on.

Those who are still supporting the Springboks should realize that, by doing so they in effect support the racist quota system and therefore also the principle behind BBBEE, EE, EXC and the allocation of water rights based on race. So, when they come to take your house, your pension fund, your business, savings, private school, private hospitals, medical aid fund etc. you should be jubilant because your support was an integral part of making this happen... The ANC is already using the success of the Springboks (and the lie of the "rainbow nation") and specifically the success of the quota system as the reason for the full implementation of all the other racist laws... The blacks have much stronger principles than the whites, NONE of them supported the Springboks during apartheid...

As a black South African in my early 40s I have experienced both “Apartheid- black oppressed rule” and now “The democratic rule which is not properly run” I fully agree the governing party ANC has taken advantage of this to enrich themselves through corruption that has gotten out of control while the poor still suffers almost the same as during the apartheid times, the majority of South African ( Blacks & Whites) condemns this and are trying hard to deal with this that’s why the ANC support is steeply declining at the polls. On the other hand there’s also the reality of the effects of Apartheid towards the population it is big it cannot be down played as Roets is doing - black peoples still lives in horrible conditions because of Apartheid and yes also because of the Current corrupt government. To the rest of the world listening to this, it would also help to also listen to the other side as well so you can get the clear picture of what’s happening in the country. I fully agree as a country we are not in good state now, things are not well at all, but it’s because of both the current government and the previous Apartheid system combined, not just one. Thus these two has to be dealt with. Unfortunately he will only speak for his people, hence I suggest you get the other side as well to have a better understanding, and make a proper conclusion.

Horrible acts where commited by whites to the other races in South Africa. But yeah, first things first is we need to all become independant from the state and build our communities and have its own systems like whats happening in Orania and a few other "black" & "white" townships around the country which is the point of this video but yes! absolutely history cannot and should not be ignored, we must never forget about the suffering in this country

This was such a brilliant break down. I am so sad that I am currently looking for ways to get out of South Africa because I love my country and I know how wonderful it can be here. Unfortunately, I wake up daily to news of murder, hijackings, robberies and assault and I can't sit around and wait until my family and I become a statistic. Law enforcement is a joke, service industry doesn't understand customer service and today I read that 2500 of our prisoners were set free to make space. It's not a way to live. It isn't fair. I had a family to be happy and love life but all I do is check doors, call kids to make sure their doors are locked in the car when they're out, try to recognize loiterers in our street that walk by more than once, get in and out of the car as quickly as possible, lie awake at night listening to noises, etc. It's making me ill.

Very insightful especially your comment about hope. I would like to add my 2 cents. I believe what creates hope is faith. Of course, as a Christian, that faith is based on the Bible and God's word. What many seem to fail to notice is that as atheism increases in especially the western world now, the more "wrong" things seem to go. This is not new, if you look at the Bible and historical/archeological evidence you will realize (especially in the old testament and ancient history), that the theme seems to be consistent with a lack of belief, a greater focus on self-pleasure and self-importance; and the eventual misery that this causes which of course results in some self-reflection and an increase in faith until things become good again and the cycle repeats. It is interesting to see this happening in the modern age and with the internet in almost real-time.

The minority in SA are not in danger nor are they voiceless. The notion that respected people such as Mr Roets need to apply for political refuge is really unnecessary. The minority in SA actually hold considerable power because they also own the means of production and they drive our economy. So their voice matters and we do actually rely on them to also speak out about the problems the country is facing currently because their voice holds power.

The fatal flaw for South Africa was Democracy... whose inherent flaws have been known for more than 2300 years; Socrates hated democracy for the very reasons why South Africa's democracy has failed miserably. He considered voting something that only the wise should be permitted to do.... i.e. assuming that everyone would make rational choices and therefore pick the most capable leadership has always been a fallacy. Popularity contests never result in a choice of the most capable, most moral, etc. Just as we would never democratically vote for pilots for obvious reasons..,. popularity and emotions should never factor into such important decisions. These choices have to embrace a meritocracy; where the most capable and most skilled pilots are chosen, irrespective of their immutable characteristics e.g. sex, race, religion, ... South Africa could have succeeded if voting remaining along racial lines, and separate leadership was chosen independently to represent each race group; a select leadership that would then have equal rights irrespective of population, and they would then pick a leader for the country, province, towns, etc. and then those chosen leaders would then pick their administration, etc.

One of the greatest tragedies in South Africa is the lack of appreciation and understanding of the Gospel message by those who are conversant with scripture. Spiritual legalism has taken the place of the glory and liberty offered only through the Gospel! The focus is around, not only the 10 commandments, but also the Torah, with the Message entrusted to the apostle Paul taking a back seat!

If I may ask, Were the decisions taken in 1994 supposed not to benefit every citizen but some? So, Sir, if everything was done right in 1994 I don't think we would be where we are today. Our laws are no well understood by some citizens, Truth be told. You Sir, you know and understand our constitution and its laws better. We hear democracy but we look around it doesn't make sense. Enjoyed your talk from South Africa - watching from Canada. I have just watched a video on you tube which I suggest you watch it is called "Chasing Freedom". They visit Johannesburg and Cape Town which they think are world class cities. They are Afro Americans and had nothing but praise for your country and cities. Canadians and maybe the rest of the world know very little about SA and are not very interested in your problems so you have to paddle your own canoe. They in fact think Afrikaans is a black tribal language. Extreme liberalism in Canada and the USA is causing extreme political problems here so you are not the only ones with problems. The Biden family has taken 50 million in bribes - has allowed uncontrolled cross border immigration of 6 million people into the country so changing the very make up of the States. So lets say that each country has its own problems. I think as a non academic that what you need is a change of government in SA - a government that appreciates the virtues of capitalism and gets away from Globalism. I think it is treasonable allowing everything in from the far east and not making everything you need yourselves. Do you need that screw from China when half your population is unemployed? Elon Musk a "son of Africa" can resurrect your power grid. Gijima can resurrect your railways and so on. I think SA has wonderful potential - just put in fresh blood

This was an illuminating and fascinating topic. Because what is happening in SA is a foreshadowing of what is happening in the U.S. . I remember reading that Marx had a global vision for his ideology, that he realized violence and death would be needed to implement his one thought collective ideology and that each country would have slightly different approaches to the victim/oppressor model. For example, SA has thousands of years of different cultures layered on top of each other. A history of clans, tribes, ethnicities, religions, governments, races. They are all still present in SA culture. That alone must make corruption rampant and impossible to stamp out. The U.S. doesn’t have those problems. The U.S. started with a constitutional republic, Christianity, and most importantly capitalism. But Marxism crept in here too. Maybe after Stalin. Do you think the UN’s Global Equity and Climate Change Agenda 2024, will help a country were the money is pocketed by the government. I have been listening closely to this years agenda and leaders in Africa, who expect the Global North to build an infrastructure of green technology in every developing country. If a country can’t keep the lights on now…(because of layers of corruption)… why would it work for the next generation of technology. Wouldn’t China have to build it? The WSJ, Nov. 30(A7) has an estimate for ‘rich’countries(that is code for US taxpayers), the IMF estimates 2trillion A YEAR for ‘poor’ countries. That is certainly a Marxian global redistribution of wealth. I think the UN is a Marxist institution, and if Trump by some miracle gets elected, I hope he WITHDRAWS from the UN. I look forward to more of your videos on SA.

The reason why Homelands which boundaries were established from a historical understanding of circumstance was pragmatic. No individual not recognised/accpted as a member of one of the tribes could settle in a homeland, afaik. I am unaware of any constraints over the governance of the homelands. The idea, separate but equal, appears to strive toward the upliftment of others. Unfortunately, not everyone accepts the opportunities presented, but some do and did thrive under the system. The strength of the South African economy was the crutch upon which others could potentially thrive and participate. At least I think this was the perhaps somewhat naive thinking behind the policy. Could this policy, which is perceived to be unique to South Africa, be a solution to the travails of the failed liberal democratic ideologies, or its ideas being part of a solution? Dare we venture towards a National Socialist dispensation?

Liberal Democracy may work, when the people voluntary submit to reasonable moral rules. Otherwise you are going to need some form of authoritarian government. This overview of South Africa's problems was very enlightening for me, but for the fact that closet marxists seem to be a global phenomenon now. One minor correction, at the beginning of your presentation you said that South Africa first came into the limelight at the end of the 20th century, I think you meant the end of the 19th century. A minor error in an extremely well thought out presentation.

This, unfortunately, mostly helps to misunderstand South Africa. A few points: (1) Parochial history presented mostly from the perspective of Afrikaners. I would at least add the discovery of diamonds & gold, major race based / Apartheid legislation (controlling movement, work, marriage, public spaces and separate development), popular resistance to Apartheid (Sharpville / Mandela arrest and Biko murder etc) and the consistent international pressure against the Apartheid state as not only important developments, but where South Africa gained international prominence and important to the post 1994 negotiate context and necessary "transformation" (or just plain settlement) required. . (2) The whole NDR nonsense. Which trust me Solidarity and our political right pay more attention to and write volumes on - than the ANC or any cadre in government. It is like "white-monopoly capital", it means more to those that use it as an ideological heuristic (explain their opponents and position) than any actual reference to reality. It is a cover for a lot of white identity politics - the black gevaar (danger) is really just a communist / NDR gevaar. (3) Ditto the Leninist-Marxist state and the SACP. Even a more popular view is that the ANC talks left but walks right. The SACP is so insignificant that it doesn't contest elections and its influence in the ANC has been steadily declining. The ANC is so bad at communism and socialism - you have the EFF, but the EFF struggles to break out of the low teens despite many problems persisting under the ANC. They are too radical for most South Africans. (4) South Africa is a spectacular failure. Tell that to black South Africans that despite the ANC's record, have seen their living conditions improve and objectively have seen supply of water, electricity and housing improve. Seen them transform from an oppressed majority to having a say in the new South Africa and able to democratically and liberally transform South Africa (unlike Apartheid which was undemocratic and authoritarian) in accordance with liberal democracy. Afriforum have won several court cases - with the help of the very same liberal constitution Roets criticizes - including on Affirmative Action. The ANC is far from perfect and Roets is far closer with the "mafia state" / patronage thesis. But Apartheid was morally corrupt, RSA isolated and economically broke - none of this applies to the current South Africa which is badly governed. (5) White victimhood being portrayed. Roets want to tell you there are no race wars and South Africans get along nicely and that we have much in common. But never misses an opportunity to claim white victimhood. Political Roets often talks with a forked tongue - wanting it both ways. Rubbishing his country internationally and presenting Afrikaners as victims of some active campaign by the ANC. Nobody is going after Orania. Afrikaners culture and traditions (reason I am card carrying member of Solidarity) are protected. Socio-economically Afrikaners do better than black South Africans. Roets doesn't talk in detail about affirmative action and expropriation without compensation - because it is more nuanced and complex than his activism. All our laws are still subject to constitutional challenge and the Constitutional Court has not only ruled in favour of Solidarity but in other cases have taken very reasonable positions on transformation vs individual rights as contained in the constitution. For instance nobody can be fired based on Affirmative Action. Land cannot just be expropriated for zero compensation. No court has ruled that Afrikaans schools, monuments and other cultural symbols should just be banned or ignored. Not even the old South African flag...Again this is all activism and not even half truths... BTW nobody also argues South Africans should replace their culture with a civic South Africa culture, the whole rainbow nation and stronger in diversity concepts is the exact opposite and closer to what Roets himself claims... South Africa is not ahead of the rest of the world. We are behind, importing the western culture wars into South African context, with mostly disastrous consequences. This is what is mostly at display here...I believe, like many black South Africans have told me in private, that in many aspects Afriforum mean well, a lot of it is just misplaced, base on mistrust / narrow perspective and lost in the activism. Again, it is a pity an international audience is getting a very parochial perspective towards understanding South Africa. It is a view shared by many on the right and in minority circles - but it is also part of the problem...

I think what Roets meant with 'being ahead' of the rest of the world has to do with: 1) not trusting government 2) Realizing the communist take-over (starting world-wide) 3) Not trusting mainstream media 4) Moving towards decentralization of government or away from government control.

That’s a liberal, minority, view on the state of the nation. On the contrary, South Africa under the ANC is on the verge of becoming a failed state. The NDR is real and underlies ANC policy which is universally destructive. Cyril Ramaphosa is not the business friendly face of the ANC, he is not a reformist. At his core, he is a communist and his wealth was derived not through entrepreneurship and hard work, but through the ill gotten gains of BEE. There is no good ANC. The only path to possibly saving South Africa from certain ruin, is to vote out the ANC.

Our problems are Neoliberal policies that the world bank entangled us in. Relience on FDI has been our downfall. Now i keep realizing that SA don't really understand each other even though we are always talking. To be fair none of us want pure capitalism like they have in the US. We want a functioning state with strong institutions and every individual owning what they've worked for. We want property rights. We want competition driven economy with elements of nationalism. Our biggest enemy is Neoliberal economy.
