It's fair to say Yoel is the best fighter to never win a belt. He's beat so many former champions, 1 in a billion physique genetics and started MMA late.

Yeah that’s the thing thats always is upsetting when looking back on yoels or like Anderson Silvia’s careers. They got into the game insanely late like mid to late 30’s, Silva was just thankfully blessed with a lot of talent. But unfortunately for Yoel it just didn’t work out that way he was fighting the same caliber of guys, top contenders just couldn’t get the job done. It’s unfortunate because if they were in their primes you could imagine how unstoppable they’d be.

Yoel MMA career surprisingly to many,is not as impressive as being in the top 4 spot in the cuban wrestling team for at least 15 years. I only said that because Cuba at the time produced some of the best wrestlers of the world. and to be at the top for so long in order to continue to go to the Olympic games and other international competitions only speaks of the level of conditioning, perseverance, professionalism that Yoel must have had in order to accomplish that. Keep in mind too that in Cuba only the athletes who make the Olympic team, or go to pan american games and such, are the only ones who make any decent leaving. So that means everyone is trying their very best to make it to the top, otherwise the last 10 years of sacrifice meant nothing. I can't even imagine everything that man had to go through to accomplish everything he did.
