I honestly think 💭 having a partner is barely worth it. Even when you find an emotionally healthy partner who loves you and respect you. These relationships takes away so much of our energy. My partner and I both ASD. We have a healthy relationship and we understand each other and I still think i was much happier single.

@amy I agree. It takes a lot of energy being in a relationship. I've been married over 35 yrs. I recently accepted that he has ASD. We have great times together, but it has been draining for us both. We all have a lot of unresolved baggage. I'm reading a great book. It states we all have a GFUC - Genetic F@#ked Up Code. I soooo believe that. This is why no matter how much we do for each other, it will never be enough. I'm learning to say F It to things out of my control. It will lead to Freedom and not being hard on yourself.

I am confused about the amount of anxiety the the ASD partner carries. Doesn’t medication help that? I am the one medicated!

Great video Mark to give another perspective on your video description wouldn't understanding that involve a level of empathy for people totally unlike themselves that is way beyond the average neurotypical?

I agree. I suspect it is beyond the average NT. She would need above average empathy and EQ to grasp the reality of her ND marriage. I bet the average NT bails on the ND marriage either by emotional divorce or actual divorce.

I'm self identified with these autistic traits. Recently, someone I trusted contradicted my self identified autism. Caused me extreme emotional pain. But if I'm not autistic then how can I have so many similarities with autistic men? I don't think average women share this many traits with autistic men. It's just not possible. Women are often projecting bad intentions on me, just as these wives project onto their husbands. I've suffered so much from not understanding socially. Scored very high in school, but in life I've been treated so poorly. I've also felt like the R word, because of my deep lack of understanding. High scores in school, but completely unintelligent socially. I have suffered, and when abused by one boyfriend he sneered at me, "You're a smart girl" aka I have no excuse for not understanding therefore I did whatever offense on purpose. 🙃😪💀

I am also sorry you went through this and that person was being ignorant because if they understood trait differences they would also appreciate that they have no right to contradict what you see in your self and your own traits. That person was disrespectful towards you. As was your boyfriend who said you had no excuse for not knowing something. That was disrespectful too. An NT who wants to be in your life in a good way will learn about autism and have the capacity to appreciate you for who you are, and to participate in communication strategies that work for both of you. These do exist. I have learned so much from Mark's videos and I do hope you don't lose faith that there are good people out there who know how to appreciate you for you.
