FOR THOSE WHO WILL INEVITABLY ASK: "Star" is an unused track. It was supposed to play in the CORE if you stood against a Madjick's chaser orb attack long enough to make the attack turn into hearts that recover health. It messed with the regular CORE background music and caused errors, so Toby removed it. So yes, not related to Chara. However, some fans theorize that Star was originally meant to be Chara's theme. There isn't any real confirmed evidence of this in the game or from Toby Fox. That being said, Chara is the name of the second brightest star in the constellation "Canes Venatici". If you google the “Star is Chara’s theme” theory, there’s some fun stuff that isn’t necessarily supported by canon and no, I am not going to type the whole theory out in this youtube comment. TL;DR Star is often associated with Chara in fanon, along with the obvious buttercups and the heart locket. ANYWAY on to this song. So uh. This is my absolute favorite song on the scratch track list. When the scratch tracks came out in April, I was BEYOND hyped. So I went through the songs one by one, and when I got to Star I was absolutely blown away. I had been working on illustrations for a book at the time, and when it came to this one, I had no choice but to stop what I was doing and just listen while the song overtook me. I kept playing it over and over. By the second listen I had dozens of images in mind, but the one that stood out strongest was the picture of Chara with all the constellations and the game menu circle. I had to stop everything I was doing and draw it, I couldn’t NOT. Everything about it came so naturally, it was a burst of inspiration like I haven’t felt in years. That only continued when I got to work with Lore on the rest of the art, we both adore this song and it was such a treat to get to work together. I just adore the way Lore draws both Chara and Frisk, illustrating their differences while still making their connection obvious-- I love Chara's shoes so much. Also the way Lore draws legs, hands, faces, and hair is just delightful and I ADORE how her pictures of the starry sky came out. I love the subtle red coloring to Chara's hair and eyes while still making them look natural. The mirror image is also great, it’s just such a good concept. The star backgrounds on Lore's pieces are so beautiful, the shot of Chara with their hands turned upwards as they look at the audience has SUCH GREAT COLORS and I adore it so much. Also Alex, the little touch of static in Chara’s eyes when they switch to the creepy face is just SO GOOD. It’s been months and I’m still listening to this song almost daily, and I’m BEYOND excited that other people get to hear it as well. Eissibee really knocked this one out of the park, the scratch track is beautiful but GOD Eissibee’s voice. The way they hit such high, clear notes gives me chills The opening of the song just feels so sharp and clear, crisp, it feels to me like Chara has finally found their voice and is ready to speak. The opening with Chara’s story, “hoping that someone would find me” says so much right there. They threw themselves down for a very sad reason, but deep down, they wanted to be loved, they wanted someone to find them and be there for them. And then just as quickly as they open that chapter of their life, they close it, “it’s over now”, like they had this one moment of honesty and now they can’t bring themselves to go deeper into details. They fell, they were found, there was a life but it’s done now and there’s no point in discussing it further. The first point where the song hits that dark note that seems so vast and wide, that weird thrum that you can feel deep in your chest, it just hits so perfectly with “When they call my name, the demon comes, but am I to blame? I tried to be good, I really did.” This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE part in the song, the sheer remorse in “I tried to be good” that comes from Eissibee’s voice, the way these lines drive home just how badly Chara wanted to do the right thing. How this line right here debunks the “Chara was always a demonic villain”, how this one line humanizes them so thoroughly. The sorrow in how Eissibee sings “Not sure I could”, how it echos the hinted fact that they fell for a sad reason, how that one line seems to hint that Chara has always worried deep down they could never be a good person. “Leaving two worlds broken, unfurled” is such a beautiful line, the acknowledgement that Chara knows by doing what they did, in spite of their best efforts, they truly believe they ruined what the Underground was. They didn’t just screw things up on the surface, they screwed up below as well. I adore the way “take” in “couldn’t take anymore crying” is barked out, that small bit of frustration with Asriel in that single line. The way that line can reference how they clearly pushed Asriel to not cry over this and not let his emotions get in the way of their plan, but then the fact that it’s just “crying” in general can also reference their own buried emotions on the subject. “Been disposed of” is just such a low line after everything else, so plainly spoken of, and it’s such a sharp contrast with the hard line of “Learned about LOVE”, the broken mention of “stars slowly dying”. I feel like this line speaks more to the stretch of time, of waiting, and then there’s such LONGING in Eissibee’s voice in “I once knew light, burning bright, shadows invade.” I adore the line “I’ve lost the dawn, sunlight’s gone”, how BROKEN these words sound, how wonderfully they echo the dramatic language of the original musical and how the dawn and sunlight were constant references. I love the transition after this where Chara states their determination, the harshness in the words “There’s no point now.” It’s such an excellent statement of the moment where they give up, that there’s nothing they can do, and then the way that twists to “I finally see neither world cares for me.” When you’re that deep in the hole, when everything feels so hopeless, eventually it feels like there’s no choice but to lash out. Even if they put themselves there, it’s so easy for that to get twisted, and it hurts because OF COURSE the Underground cared for Chara and of course Asriel cared but it wasn’t enough to save to them and look, no one really knew them anyway. It’s the moment where their pain goes from external to the knives turning outward, they are in so much pain and they can’t see anything else anymore. I love how final “no one can stop me now” is, how it’s sung with a bit of a flourish. It feels like Chara planting their feet on the ground, as if they’re going “FINE, screw it, this is who I am, I accept it.” “No hopes, no dreams, I have nothing. Death is all that can define me.” This line is sung with such pain, it seems so bitter, it’s such a stark contrast to the original UTM and it hurts. “Death is all that can define me” is SO GOOD. 'This is all I was good for in life and this is all I am good for now' Chara says. They wanted to do good, but in the end, all they can do is hurt people. The finality to “the end’s calling, no more stalling” is so good but then in the end Chara’s voice shakes on “Stars will fade, but I’ll keep shining”, as if they too are burning out in this single moment of brilliance. ...Suffice to say, this song means so much to me. It captures the feeling of self-destruction so well. It’s a song about how Chara feels they got a second chance and they squandered it. It’s a song about how far they’ve fallen, how they could have done it right but they didn’t and they’re in so deep now, there’s no crawling out now. It’s a song about crying out from the lowest point and it hurts so much because they put themselves there and they know they did. There is so much regret and pain in every line, moments of hope, moments of loss. There is depth and a sense of time passing, just this all-encompassing vastness of the starry sky and it makes Chara’s voice seem so small against it. This isn’t a song about Chara the demon, this isn’t all those evil giggles and mocking villain speeches against our heroic sans undertale. This is a song about Chara the PERSON, and it means so much to me. I just. I dunno. Something about the line “I tried to be good, I really did” nearly brings me to tears every time. I know that feeling, kid, it’s okay. Dear lord this comment is nearly as long as my Bring It In, Guys comment. Sorry I just. This song means everything to me-- not just because Undertale. This song makes me see myself in Chara, and that is SO important. The Genocide route doesn’t happen because you were taken over by some demon. It happens because… well, you’re human.. Humans fall sometimes and when you’re in that deep, it’s so easy to feel like there’s nowhere to go and even the stars have faded. This song is about that moment where it feels like your mistakes have swallowed you and it’s very poignant to me. Okay I’ll shoosh now. But um. Thank you for making this, MOTI crew. This is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I’m . . . actually in tears. This song just captures who Chara is perfectly. They’re a troubled child who went through something _so horrible_ on the Surface, they wound up hating their own species altogether. They climbed Mt. Ebott for an “unhappy reason,” potentially suicide, but then, Asriel found them. They had a family, they had a best friend, and they were loved by all of monsterkind, and yet their attempt to pay back that kindess not only put themself through an agonizing death, it got their brother killed, it split apart their parents, and it essentially destroyed the kingdom. And now Frisk’s here. And so are *_you._* Sure, you have the ability to achieve the happy ending Chara tried so hard to give everybody without killing anyone. They helped you with their snarky narration, and now that the job’s done, they can presumably rest in peace. But, of course, you can also slaughter everyone they know and care about. At first, they were so confused. Why are you doing this? _Why were they brought back to life for _*_this?_* But, well, they’re a child. Children are impressionable. So this must be the right thing to do. There’s no other reason why you’d do this, right? After a while, they begin to *enjoy* it. They say that Monster Kid looks like “free EXP”, they demand to know where the knives are, and they even make a few kills themself. And then, at the end, you finally meet them. They thank you for showing them the purpose of their new life. They congratulate you for doing what they now think is right. They offer to erase the world, because now that everybody’s dead, there’s nothing left for them here. And then you refuse. They’re in shock. You just killed everybody, even their mom. They killed their dad to appease you. You even made them kill their brother in one last fit of violent rage. And that is the straw that broke the camel’s back. They _turn on you_ because you just killed their whole family, and now you’ve just admitted that there wasn’t even a reason. From now on, they hate you and everything you stand for. Good going, asshole, you broke a ten-year-old.

What I personally want to know is, besides Chara and Frisk, just _who_ were the other six humans who fell into the Underground? What were they like before they fell in? What motivated them to scale a mountain that had a legend that stated that those who climb it never return? How did they die? Did they even have names? I know that there are several fan theories out there, but I want to hear it from Mr. Fox himself.

Heracross X They were all killed by Asgore. They all reached him, but none of them made it past him. Asgore knows about resetting and saving. He reacts sadly when you die over and over, so the children might have tried to get past him. Soon enough, they would give up, and he'd collect their souls.

I don't know much but each patch of buttercups in the game is where a child died, I know that Justice died against Undyne and is the one that make here blind from her left eye with a bullet, Integrity died in Waterfalls stuck in sea weed and drowned but that's all I know. Each of them represents an object from the game, patience : Toy knife, Intergrity : the ballet shoes, Kindness : The skillet, Justice the empty gun, Bravery : The gloves and Perseverence : The notebook
@aphoticlight7 жыл бұрын
An Echo In here Yup. About as close as it gets. Since the other humans (at the time they had fallen) had the most determination (in the sealed confines of the underground, where nothing could escape), they could save and reset. We know that because of this power, they all made it to Asgore. However, why they gave up then and there is still a mystery. Could it have been out of guilt for the monsters? Or could Asgore have been too strong? (I doubt the latter because he was one of the easiest bosses to beat for me. However, in defense of that statement, I could say that Asgore was still fueled by rage then) Either way, we still know very little of them. And we probably never will know much more. However, we can understand a general idea of their personality, through their items and the omega flowey fight. Other than that, there isn't much else about it. Something else that we do know is that Flowey and the amalgamates have about as much determination as a normal human soul, seeing as determination was extracted from souls past captured.

Last Year Actually, the line was “Chara was never the greatest person.” He then proceeds to claim that Frisk is the friend that he wished he had. The reason for this was because Frisk had the power to reset and fix their flaws and mistakes... making them look better by comparison. Btw, Asriel never said he didn’t love Chara. He just idealised them too much. Same case with Undyne and Monster Kid. Kid just idealised her too much. But we all still love Undyne. So why can’t we show the same love to Chara...?

> "no hopes, no dreams, i have nothing. death is all that can define me" excuse me while i cry over this line because it really showcases that the genocide run really takes everything away. they sound so resigned when they sing it. whether it's their own death or the death of other people, that's all chara thinks they're good for now, causing death. there's no point in trying to stop it, it's literally impossible for them so they've had to resign to their fate to deal with it. i really really love this song because it really shows how tragic their situation is and how determined they are to think that causing death is their only purpose in life now, and it's like nothing i've seen the fanbase do for chara before.

well, if anything, it definitely shows how far they've fallen from the kid who once offed themself just to free all monsters. the effects of LOVE are very powerful. LOVE is "a way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. the more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. the more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. the more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others." and that feeling of LOVE increasing goes straight to chara. this isn't like flowey who willingly did it, chara was dragged along for the genocide run and had to accept their role in it. not denying the possibility of chara enjoying murdering people, but when you don't have a choice you'll do anything to cope with the situation, even if that means laughing it off.

sparklingdemon they don't say "EXP LV HP ATK DEF G every time a number increases i become Eviler" they say "EXP LV HP ATK DEF G every time a number increases that's feeling that's me chara" they weren't saying that they become corrupted by some soul bonding non-sense their no such thing in the game called "link through Determination" what they saying is that they are the feeling that you get when your EXP,LV HP etc increase - Flowey was awakened through the DT from the six human souls but they weren't effected by his LOVE even when he absorbed them -also how it's Frisk's DT that a awakened chara? with asriel he needed to have DT that was extracted through injected in the flower that his essence was infused with. all of what Frisk has done was fall with (physical body not soul or DT) on the golden flowerbed that was on chara (so they didn't even tach them let alon inject them with any thing) and even if that what had happened chara would be soulless sense DT revive people without their soul and thus evil (regardless of how they ware revived chara is likely soulless sense they can take your soul and they can poss frisk on multiple cases

In the game you can look at your stats, now, in your stats you can see your LV, Hp, Gold, Weapon, Armor... and Chara's (or however you named them) name. This shows that SOMEHOW your LV ,EXP, etc goes to Chara and not you, somehow even your armor is displayed there. No matter how you put it, either Chara is the one suffering from the LV Frisk gains, or it's Frisk's stats with Chara's name on it which leaves us with nothing to blame Chara anymore since they aren't involved. See, I have read the diaglogues and theorized with people a lot and I think that Chara has no real evil to them. While I can't prove Chara to be good, I can prove that they aren't completely evil: After completing genocide multiple times (forgot how many) Chara says something along the line of "Maybe another path would be suited better" meaning that they want you to stop doing genocide. Also Chara "was the hope of the entire underground" and "was like a sibbling to the prince" which we can both agree, isn't anything you would say about a bad person. Chara is like most characters in Undertale good AND bad, with flaws and some good things to them, this goes for everyone, no matter if Flowey or Papyrus, everyone has a side to them you can like, and some bad things to them, why would Chara be an exception? In the end I have to say 2 more things: 1.: It is up to you how you see Chara and what you think of them, but please don't try to prove that you are right, every argument you have against them can be countered by a fact that speaks for Chara and counterwise 2.: This comment is way to long and I put a lot of spelling mistakes in it becouse English is not my first language and I am really tired, sorry!

They're not the main "villain" of Undertale, they're not a sadistic, crazed knife murderer, they're a traumatized kid who doesn't think they will ever have love-- or even deserve it. I especially like the line “When they call my name the demon comes but am I to blame?” I like it because it shows that most fans think Chara is just an embodiment of evil and hunger to kill but they are much more than that. I love the art and the circle with Chara in the middle. The vocals are phenomenal and I can’t really express how good they are because I’m just some loser leaving a dumb comment no one will read. I’ve real fell in love with the geno songs and I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing. And yes like most people I was expecting The M-word but I was surprised by this new song id never heard and it took a couple listens to get the feel of the song and hear every word and I loved it. The reason it surprised me is that I didnt get the scratch tracks in April and didn’t hear any of these...

0:42 just had a thought. Chara never explicitly calls themself the demon that comes when people call its name. To quote Chara themself "Greetings, i am Chara. Chara. The demon that comes when people call it's name" Chara isn't explicitly saying they're the demon, rather that the demon's name is the one you chose. When you play any video game, you often insert your own name. As such, you are the demon, you simply share a name with the fallen child in every timeline and will always come because of that

This was obviously unintentional since it came out before then, but "power of will" and all the references to "shining" make for interesting parallels to some of the language used in Deltarune, especially considering how Kris is so similar to Chara.
@luborpietrasik99043 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I think Kris is an untold story of Chara. We really know little about Chara in Undertale but they weren't real focus of the game. Toby had an Idea for Deltarune before undertale was made so probably they are kinda the same with similiar issue and personality.
@machinedramon3532 Жыл бұрын
@bruhmanofyear2647 I have an alternative theory. Deltarune seems like exactly the kind of world Chara would want - monsters live happily on the surface, their brother is alive, and aside from them, there isn't a human in sight. Furthermore, there's a couple of other facts to consider - at the end of the genocide route, Chara says "Let us destroy this world and move on to the next." Then, they later recreate the world in exchange for our soul. This leads me to believe that Deltarune is actually a direct sequel to Undertale's genocide route, where Chara uses determination to create their idea of a perfect world, then assumes a new name that the player didn't choose - Kris - as a way to distance themselves from us. This theory would explain a lot of things. Firstly, viewed through this lense, Chara's motivation on the genocide route makes much more sense. Certainly they aren't exactly happy with the world in Undertale, but it doesn't make sense that they would support us killing the very monsters that showed them so much compassion in life just to destroy it - unless, of course, their real goal was to create a new world where those same monsters could be happy. It also explains why Chara turns on us if we choose not to destroy the world - they assumed that destroying the world and creating a new world and creating a new one was our goal from the start, so when they discover that that wasn't the case - that we intend to leave behind a world where everyone is dead - they recognize just how evil we are and assume control. Furthermore, this is also why we take control of them in Deltarune - their soul is, after all, the one we gave them - and part of why they are so resistant to that control. Not only are we violating their autonomy, they're also afraid that we'll ruin the perfect world they've created just like we did to Undertale.

"I remain still; power of will leaves me here to keep on trying. I know, somehow, there's no point now to try and stop the hate, the dying." This has to be my favorite line in the track since, at least in my interpretation, it represents the determination in every human being and how, no matter the aching disparity or the confusion and dissonance within ourselves that agony causes, we still move on. Even if there is no point, the lyrics later bring on a sort of umbra; as Chara sings, there is no point in trying to stop the hate and the "dying." Their character shows the gradual change brought about by their feelings of abandonment and failure. Even in the sense of the game, no matter what, your determination will keep pushing you to the end for better or for worse, no matter what's in the way. Lastly, death is not only seen as the end of something but the beginning as well; it's so interesting how the idea of continuing and death come consecutive to each other in this line :D I love this tune ;~;

الحسن يوسف Well, I didn't mean Chara is an innocent roll, I meant they're completely 'demon that comes when people call its name' and all that only during genocide. They're helping you to achieve the genocide ending, but they doubt it's the right thing to do " You and I are not the same, are we? This SOUL resonates with a strange feeling. There is a reason you continue to recreate this world.There is a reason you continue to destroy it. You. You are wracked with a perverted sentimentality. Hmm. I cannot understand these feelings anymore. Despite this. I feel obligated to suggest. Should you choose to recreate this world once more. Another path would be better suited." But the LOVE and killing that they see happening corrupts them, and they turn evil. They kill Sans, Asgore and Flowey. But it's all because of the player's actions. and even when the corruption doubled, from another genocide run, they still 'felt obligated to suggest another path'
@mikaelious95507 жыл бұрын
This is my theory: In the start of the Genocide Route, Chara was just a spirit who was awakened in Frisk's body. At first, they did nothing; they just looked at things around them. However, Frisk started killing monsters, and this corrupted Chara making them evil. Because Chara lived inside Frisk, the corruption and evilness Frisk caused in Chara backfired at them and made them evil as well. So basically Frisk turned Chara into a demon, who then made Frisk an evil and emotionless killer.

It’s truly amazing and I love it, as do thousands of others. I hate that the worst side is shown in this fandom but then again I might be showing hypocrisy because there are other fandoms I only choose to see the bad side of -I admit it- Onto the song, it’s perfect for Chara. Their voice is so... ominous and determined -hehe- and they have that perfect “yep my plan is going through perfectly” look on their face at the beginning. The lyrics truly describe their feelings of discrimination and hatred for humanity that they are implied to have (like the bow in the ruins). The music (I know MotI didn’t compose it but still) is scary to a point where it absolutely fits Chara better than just a theme in the CORE that one enemy type uses. If, instead of silence, Star was used at the end of Geno, it would likely have the same effect. And the lyrics near the end of the song are perfect for Chara in Geno. (The end’s calling. No more stalling. Etc.) It shows that they are ready to complete their plan and destroy your save, as well as the world and all of its inhabitants. They may be a child, but you, the player, have given them the power to do much more than possible before. This is absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful and sad. I totally second everything Kristen said, and I love that you portray Chara as a broken, confused child rather than a demon like so many shallowly do. Eissibee really did an incredible job and captured Chara's emotions perfectly; I love how she enunciates certain words and how her voice breaks as Chara gets emotional and breaks as Frisk/the player kills everyone they loved, and they're finally pushed past the brink of believing and hoping for goodness and love and accepting the hate and LOVE that Frisk/the player has forced into their hands. Man, this song makes me emotional... could we by chance get a song Chara sings/takes part in post-pacifist? I really want to see them happy like they deserve. Anyways, thank you so much, MOTI, for delving into Chara's personality and character and portraying them so amazingly well; this is by far one of my top favorite Undertale songs. I'm really so happy that you gave Chara their own song; they certainly deserve it for the huge part they play in Undertale. Thank you. ^^

Zuriel Productions chara knows about resets she probably had that power when they ware alive since they ware the only one with noticeable amount of determination at the time and she is likely to know that frisk have that power since they likely died multiple times which she remember that because (even more likely in genocide ware their are the two hard battles against undyne and sans how mentions many times that he had killed you Multiple times) which means that if chara doesn't want the world to erased why don't they just wat until you reset unkilling everybody what she does however is keep sure that you kill everyone in the area "18 left" "strangely feel 2 are left we shouldn't pursued yet" getting you to hire LV possible so you loss control over yourself and your save file for them to gain it. they describe herself as the feeling that you get when your stats increases "EXP LV HP ATK DEF G every time a number increases that feeling that's me chara" they are basically the embodiment of hunger for power. morale of the story? you do not control hunger for power,hunger for power control you. oh their is also this asgore dreemurr=Gore as murderer asriel deemurr=serial murderer chara dreemurr=friends murderer ("chara" means "friend" in Irish)
@ZurielProductions7 жыл бұрын
Yeah; there's a fair bit of evidence in-game supporting the fact that Chara had the ability to RESET and such, and the other fallen children had that power too to an extent at least too. Are you trying to say that Chara's at fault for the genocide run? Forgive me if I'm wrong; your run-on sentence isn't very clear to me on what exactly you mean. And yes, of course Chara helps you, no matter which run you do; as she explains after a geno run, she was so confused as to why she was "alive" again, but then you, the player, showed her her purpose. She didn't decide to kill everyone or spare everyone or a mix of both; you did. As she clearly states, YOU teach her why she's come back, so she helps you obtain your goal.
@user-rc1vb1ho7m7 жыл бұрын
Zuriel Productions -no i didn't say that chara is to blame for everything in genocide (which is more like omnicide to be honest ) but they are the reason why it is permanent. also they destroy the genocide survivers and humanity but a big part of blame is on genocide players because they give them the power that they needed to. -chara had possibly done naturel run when they still had their soul since they seem to have experience with EXP LV HP etc -we don't corrupt we just let them corrupt us. the more LV you gain the more you distance yourself the less control you have over yourself the Easier it is to controlled by chara who is "EXP LV HP ATK DEF G every time a number increases that feeling that's me chara" which is why they Gian full control over frisk at LV 20.
@ZurielProductions7 жыл бұрын
Ah, okay. Of course Chara makes it permanent; as she pretty much states, she wants us to know that we're not above consequences for destroying practically everyone in the Underground. Also, you can bail from a genocide run without any consequences at any point in time before you kill Flowey; Chara's giving you a ton of chances to turn back before it's too late. Another thing; there is no evidence whatsoever in the game that Chara wanted power. There's no evidence about that, but sure. I'm pretty certain that Chara has knowledge of LV, EXP, etc. because of Frisk/the player, but that's my opinion. You've said that before. You realize it's Chara's name on the save file and not Frisk's, right? Those aren't Frisk's stats; they're Chara's (she was telling you that), which also shows you how violent she was in life (LV 1 with 0 EXP, so, not violent at all). I don't want to argue with you and I doubt any minds will be changed, so can we just leave it at the fact that we have differing opinions? You can't change my mind on the subject here.
@user-rc1vb1ho7m7 жыл бұрын
Zuriel Productions no i wont stop! i am DETERMINED -chara's name is on the save file to misled us to think that the name we give at the start of the game is for our character -they can't fully control us and erase the world unless we are LV 20 so they aren't really "giving us chance" they would hate us anyways even if they still had their soul because we are humans even in pacifist -if they are "corrupted" then why do they want to punish us -are you saying that in the soulless pacifist they punish us for killing monsters by killing monsters and in the genocide ending punish us for killing monsters by killing the survivers and the entire human race?

Here’s my theory. Maybe they were suffering from abuse. One hint may be when you check the faded ribbon: If you're cuter, monsters won't hit you as hard. That may imply Chara was abused by humans, and that's what caused them to hate the humans in their village. People may say Chara was abused by their parents, but the faded ribbon description may imply chara was abused by everyone in their village. Referring to the line in this song “Couldn’t take anymore crying” Another line that refers to this song is Greetings. I am . "." The demon that comes when people call its name. Meaning the line in this song makes sense. But the buttons turning into just fight means our control because we forced a 10 year old kid to see her friends and family die.
@Morbiscrazygirl4447u2 жыл бұрын
Of course another one of those "abuse theories", what's the point of even making these anymore? So many people have already made them. It's getting beyond repetitive.

There is an odd truth with the line "When the stars fade, I will keep shining". The "stars" of the game, the characters we know and love, are dead. Chara remains. The "star" of the game's narrative, its very story, is over. But the meta commentary of Chara remains. Even when people will eventually get bored of the franchise, the fact that you are still playing more games with the same mentality of a genocide run is still true. Chara remains.

Yeeeeesss I was looking forward to this song. Not only do we get to hear Eissibee SHINE for an entire song (you have such a lovely voice and I love Undertale in part because it gave Chara a chance to sing) but it's also a really *interesting* song??? As it's an unused track, and I'm generally not the kind of fan to dig up all the secrets hidden in the games files (props to those who *do* it's pretty interesting stuff. Apparently there was another dog-guard and a female guard pair?) so I probably never would have heard this haunting track. It's very...forlorn sounding, with the echoing tones totally fitting with the sort of void-y space vibe the artwork seems to have gone with. The lyrics are great, beginning to start with Chara's loss and listlessness, they had willingly taken the plunge, only to find a new life, but that life is long over and chara is resigned to this emptiness and nothingness that is their existence. One where the only thing they know how to do is to destroy everything they cared about. Originally, yes, it was unintentional, and borne of a pure desire to free the monsters and save their family. But that decision led to their own death and the death of one they cared for. Now all they have is this emptiness. All they have are the darkness and the stars. They were brought out by the acts created in the geno run, and it became the only thing that could reach them. The only thing they could do to effect the world beyond the mirror. It's all they have left. The only thing they can reach is this broken world. Is it really their fault? I love that you ask that question. They aren't the one pushing the plot forward. They aren't the one who made that decision. Whether or not you ascribe to the narrator theory, the geno run is the only one where chara appears. Only when the human (and the player) decide to go down the route of violence does chara find the strength to stand on their own. Only then do they find the agency to take their fate in their own hands. They'll "stand their ground / no one can stop me now." They've died. They have nothing beyond that. I love how this last section is at the same time shaky, but also you can clearly hear the resolve in Eissibee's voice as Chara firmly decides on the path they are going to take. I think this is a great point in the game for this song, actually. Originally I was a tad thrown off because the mirror scene obviously takes place in new home, and we hadn't yet made it to the judgement hall but then I looked up a map, and Asgore's home (where the It's Me mirror is located) is actually before the judgement hall. Plus thematically it's very important, as it's directly after Flowey's song, where he explained his motivations and backstory. It's only fair that Chara gets their voice heard, and since it's the one place where we find their related items (my locket. my knife. my bed.) it's just...the most fitting point. And it's also passed the point of no return. OKAY. Now the art. Wow. Okay. The first image with Frisk and Chara and the mirror? Is genius. It mirrors (hah) the It's Me moment in New Home so perfectly, transferring the focus from the child we see, to the one who steps up and takes their fate and this world's fate in their hands. The shot with chara in the void, with the bright light directly behind them, looking down at the floor with their eyes shadowed--this just fits the early lost nature so easily. Chara is only allowed to see a small sliver of the world. They are lost in the darkness, in the indefinite void around them with only frisk and their actions to show them the world beyond. And they aren't ready to to accept it at first. "They tried to be good / I really did / not sure I could" but then they look up to the sky, into the darkness of the void above them , as they twinkle in the far distance Chara seems to find some solace in the fact that even the distant stars die. And then we transfer into the artwork used as the thumbnail. It is phenomenal. I remember seeing it *months* ago. Long before Kristen ever was interviewed for an artist position. It was so beautiful. Peaceful and surreal in a way that absolutely fit with the forlorn sounding nature of the song. I think Kristen called it a Kingdom Hearts stained glass window at one point? That's exactly how it feels. It matches that same surreal nature of a place out of time, where they are cut off from everything around them. The menu symbols surrounding them and the circles and lines and patterns that make up the background just add this element of non-diagetic feeling to the piece, like chara doesn't really belong in that world, and has a foot out of it into ours. The following sequences, as Chara makes their decision, are just chilling. The colors fade. They flowers wilt and die. And the menu options change to a single choice. Attack. Attack. Attack. There's only one way forward for them now. For you. For everyone. (I really wanna end it there because that's a fun ending spot, but I just *had* to mention that ending. Oh gosh giving chara the face. And turning the lines *red* and then fading into the darkness leaving only that face lingering as the last notes of the song ring out??? *Perfect* lore. Utterly perfect. You did a great job with the concept and storyboarding the art for this song, as well as the coloring/shading)

Faithful Chocobo you. Must be new xD I've been writing these (some shorter some longer) since back when the end game Songs were being released. And Kristen was writing them before that. As for the point of no return... I was speaking somewhat metaphorically. You are speaking about the player. I'm talking about frisk and if the narrative. Sure the player can give up and leave. But frisk can't really. The only option they have right now is to keep going, and this part of the game in particular is where Chara's influence is felt the strongest, and in my mind, where the choices are taken from frisk and attributed to Chara.

My word, Eissibee's voice is gorgeous :") The pure beauty of it almost brought me to tears This is such a powerful and beautiful song. I really love how you showed us the feeling of rejection and neglect Chara feels, and how they gained a desire to kill go down this dark path. It almost makes you feel bad for them... I mean, yes they slaughtered a bunch of innocent monsters, as well as some monsters who were trying to protect them and others. But still, you've got to have at least some sympathy for Chara... As for vocals... OH MY GOODNESS I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH I MISSED EISSIBEE'S VOICE UNTIL NOW!!! There's just such a lovely, beautiful tone to it. Like, I don't know why, but every time she sings, I get a little emotional... the purity and beauty is simply beyond description :'3 And I am THRILLED she has her own song in this Geno package!!! This one is definitely one of my top three, and I definitely would want to cover it someday (I doubt I could really do justice to the wonderfulness of this song or Eissibee's voice though). Honestly, I am so freaking glad you found her to be your Chara for the UT musicals!!! Once again, you have given me my canon voice for another character :3 Kind of (really) hope we get to hear at least a little more of her at some point in the last two songs... Stunning work, darling!!! Not gonna lie, you did surprised me by creating a song from an unused track... not that I'm complaining, though!!! In fact, just the opposite- I am FANGIRLING over it!!! That is so freaking creative of you, and I am so glad you brought this song out from the dark so more people can know about it now :))) Honestly, it is so underrated, and I'm really glad you used it in the genocide package!!! Temmie Chang said "Nah, Chara is chill" (or something very close to that). No "They are nice" nor "They are bad". There is no good and bad in Undertale, everyone, no matter if Papyrus or Flowey is just good or bad, they all have both in them and you can hate or love every character for what they are, Chara has some very bad things speaking against them, but also some good ones that back the "Nice Chara" theory, yet (warning opinion) I think Chara is not worse or better than Asriel or Asgore are, surely not an angel but also not completely evil. I never truly understood Chara's story, but here's my favorite headcanon: Chara climbed Mt. Ebott because she was going to commit suicide after being bullied to her breaking point. Asriel said "they didn't come here for a happy reason", after all. After she fell and became a member of the Dreemurr family, she was happy. When she died, Asriel absorbed her soul and crossed the barrier with her, it was her plan to kill the humans, take their souls, and free the monsters. Asriel didn't want to do that, and thus resisted Chara's power, leading to both of them being killed by humans on the surface. When he died, her hatred twisted her soul so much that she lost sight of who she was. Frisk's determination awoke her from death as a restless spirit: all she could see now was vengeance, cue the genocide route. Would anybody care to further explain?
@sashaowen61617 жыл бұрын
Gondroid Cat that's basically basically the gist of it! My headcannon is almost the same, except I always thought that Frisk taught Chara that killing was right and Chara would never have committed the genocide route otherwise. Think about it, if the theory that Chara narrates the game is true, they were there for the pacifist route and didn't try to kill anyone.
@partyguestt7 жыл бұрын
Sasha Owen Well, Frisk is more likely 'The Player' in the Genocide Route, so Frisk wouldn't have done such. Alas, it's your headcanon, so that's fine.
@sashaowen61617 жыл бұрын
• Michael Mell. • I do think that Frisk is the player in the genocide route. I'm just saying that I think the player is present in both storylines. Chara never made you do anything and that's why I think Frisk, (the player) is evil or good depending on which path you choose. This probably made no sense, I've never been good at explaining things.
@PixelPawz7 жыл бұрын
Even if that theory is correct, the game itself seems to imply that Chara still didn't exactly fall underground intentionally, as the opening of the game depicts that their fall into the Underground was caused by them tripping over a vine.

@bruhmanofyear2647 Deltarune might not have an in-universe narrator, or it might be narrated by Gaster or the person who says "Will now be discarded. No one can choose who they are in this world.". There doesn't need to be the same save file narrator between games. If they are the same between games, it doesn't have to be the player. Thank you for answering. What is "the player"? Why is my comment wrong?

YES YES YES! This was on my birthday, and I'm so glad that i was gifted with something other than the most over-memed song that people have been THREATENING you about. Thank you. Edit: Okay, now that I've gotten over the initial shock, i must say the art, the vocals, the everything was amazing. The lyrics especially, it's funny that the fandom seems to be in this war about whether Chara is good or evil, and this interpretation of Chara seems to be having that same war within themselves. Congratulations to everyone, this was a wonderful birthday present.

I've been listening to this since it came out and I just noticed all the symbols in the background at 2:10 fade to become the FIGHT symbol during "I finally see neither world cares for me". Bravo

This is a surprise, but I'm glad Chara got a reprise! I had some trouble seeing the art as what it was til about the transition at 1:39 It's Chara's nose, mouth, and chin on their face, reminds me of Porky from Earthbound in that piece.

Waht??????? No is Megulagvegeta???????? Explain, Internet Man! EXPLAIN!!! In all seriousness, though, I really like this track! It's nice to here Eissibee's singing again, after only hearing a small bit in UTM. It sounds like Chara's voice is trembling slightly, as though she's on the verge of a breakdown, which really yet strangely adds to the somewhat situationally dissonant calm of the song. I also LOVE Kristen and Lore's dynamic artwork! It starts out so serene and peaceful, then takes a turn for the unnerving. The lyrics, and especially the final ones - "The end's calling / No more stalling / Stars will fade, but I'll keep shining" - are all so CHILLING and EERIE. Wonderful work, everyone!
"megulagvegeta"... the very last part of that says "vegeta". u have summoned the prince of all saiyans. good job

Yes- I think Chara was unsure of themselves but, upon going along with the player's genocide, they thought they were doing what was meant to happen because it was what the player wanted...

I've been a little silent lately. I guess I'll put my right foot forward for this comment I absolutely LOVED this cover. I actually predicted that this song would be used for the package, when I've done my research as it did become an unused track in the game. It really does make sense why this song would represent and examine Chara's point of view and what their actual behavior in the game. I loved all the emotion and the words used, the type of tone and diction written into this piece into the package. It brings out a more clear expression of what Chara is actually feeling and how she felt before Frisk fell into the underground. The game hinted that Chara was not the best person but that is all what we received. And while I do agree that there are millions of theories out there in the internet, the CAST THEMSELVES did the work to gather the information inside and outside the box. We should give more than just the likes, the positive comments and the support, at least that is my opinion that the cast deserves more respect than to just receive the trendiest song in the game. Now to point out to the person who sang this cover (Forgive me I don't know the name/user). While there are words that are left to judge or criticize that relates to this video, there ARE no words to comprehend in my mouth. I'm absolutely speechless of how good this was. Your singing was rather not dull and flat, your voice spoke emotion and it was so clear to HOW it was sang into the lyrics. It really gave an outbreaking point to Chara's being and her character towards her own story. The vocal audio was very precise and the high/low tones of the notes were so beautiful, your voice is really special in my own view as I watched this video. You deserve a lot of respect and applaud for this, I wish I could say this to your face as a fan would always say, but hey, all I can do is observe and keep on applauding for your hard work. Thank you. Now to the MEGALOVANIA FANS AND ALL OTHER PEOPLE WHO SAID THAT MEGALOVANIA WAS "SUPPOSED" TO BE NEXT. I get it that the song is so good and the tempo, the climatic tone of the song affects to your liking A LOT. But threatening to the cast that they had to do it? It is really simply immature that you guys have to demand and feud to the point where it stresses Alex out and he's doing his best to run the channel and organize his cast. All in all, some of you have no patience and it disappoints me that you don't even care that Alex takes his time making and producing these wonderful covers. It's super inconvenient that he has to receive hate comments about your requests not being a reality. Take it from Alex's perspective, running a channel and planning schedules for all videos is hard work and he should be looking at supportive comments instead of demanding and threats. Yes he has stated all of this about 7 times (Or more, if you want to be exact), but it is really unnecessary that he and his cast has to read all of our comments only to be disappointed from time to time as they see a lot of negativity. Once he has the time to do the song and if it is posted, then all I have to say is, I hope all of you who threatened and demanded are happy, you only show what little patience you had and how many people had to be kicked off of MOTI's channel. ...Speaking of Megalovania... NOT ONLY are you demanding for the song to be produced and uploaded, you are also complaining to Steel. (Has this ever been mentioned before..?) Steel has his own work as well, and as Magicklorelai stated, "Steel has been working TIRELESSLY to help us with all our fronts of the musical." You are requesting, or maybe demanding to Steel that he has to also use his time to perform a very difficult song. It's hard working for him enough that Alex has to plan and schedule alongside with him toward the musical in the past. Do you think Steel could possibly be looking at all of your comments in each section of a video too? Another reason why some of the people should be careful on what they wish for or what they request/demand, or even THREATEN. There may have been a chance where he was shocked himself of who was acting immature toward those demands. Long story short, give Steel and the MOTI's cast more dignity and support. Aside from what I just wrote, to state that this package has been by far one of my favorites, I can't wait for the next 2 songs that are being produced. You guys are doing a wonderful job and it is to my liking that you are all such good and caring people, for uploading such great content for entertainment uses. I hope the best for Alex and everyone who has worked so hard into everything that has been put into this channel. One of my top channels to watch or listen. I also want to say that I hope everyone is doing okay and is very healthy (Especially of how much singing you guys perform). Everyone in this channel has been my favorite and you deserve so much, you all really do. But the only thing we fans can do is just support, like, subscribe, comment positive things and etc, until the end. To end this comment off, I just want to say thank you, for enlightening a lot of performance and entertainment you guys put into use, to enlighten us. This channel is very special. Ciao!

This song helps me when I'm in a bad place, it helps to articulate the sort of thinking I can fall into, an expression of bitter and nihilistic rage. It's weirdly helpful, hooking into anger helps to keep me out of true emptiness and a proper description of it really helped. I'm generally in a better place these days, I just wanted to say thank you for this song that meant so much to me in my most terrible moments.
