The actual depressing thing is that there are all these make believe characters: Uncle Iroh (ATLA), Toriel (Undertale), etc. People keep wishing they had people like them in their lives, when in reality, they can be those people in others’ lives.

Let's just take a minute to appreciate the actual sum of heartache Toriel must have gone through. I mean, she had a happy family, a husband, a beautiful son. All that changed when the first human fell. Well, not exactly then, at first Chara became a part of the royal family, and they were happy. Then, came the death of Chara, the 'death' of Asriel, and the split of Toriel and Asgore. The queen decides to live in the ruins, (as Asgore ends up on the other side of the Underground) to stay near the burial ground of a child she loved greatly. Over the years, six children with different traits fall into the Underground, all falling in Mount Ebott, all falling into the ruins. The first time, Toriel sees her chance to care about a child again. Until the child asks how to get home. She reluctantly shows the child the door, and they go through it, never to return, for Asgore has collected their soul. This happens again, and again, and again, until the seventh child falls, and Toriel attempts to keep one, just ONE child to stay. When the player, you, keeps asking about home, she knows she must do what's right. She tells you to prove yourself to her. When you do, and begin to leave, she hugs you, knowing that, like all the rest, she may never see you again. Toriel didn't just lose one child, or two, or even three. Toriel has lost eight children whom she would have gladly cared for as her own, nine if you count Frisk.

I love the art at 0:20 because it really shows how imposing Toriel would most likely be from a human child’s perspective, not to mention a goat monster like her probably stands at maybe two to three feet taller than the average human. Combine that with the Chef Frisk comic showing her use her claws and brute strength, and you can see they don’t call her a boss monster for nothing.

Now the ruins section is finished... i wanna say a few thangs. (Essay coming up) Toriels voice was on point throughout this section. From fallen down to heartache. Lindsay, your vibrato was on POINT. And i was able to feel your pain during this beautiful song. you were amazing. In ruins, The Chorus gave us a foreshadow in the story as well as a Blooky preview. Ghost fight... I would complement but I'm afraid blooky will run off. (It was fun to hear) Home gave us a preview of Asriel's story and his voice. now the ruins are over. we must move on to the other 3 areas. im ready to ride the wave!

@@shadowbladeandlightin8889 Actually if you heal yourself when you have 2 hearts it will reset that toriel will keep attacking you then keep running into the fireball when you have 2 heart Toriel will keep attacking instead of stopping there, then thats youre chance to see the easter egg

I think it's less "you're only happy with me" and more "why can't you be satisfied with this?" She's hurt and upset. "Why can't you be satisfied with safety, with love and protection?" And yeah, that's also her wearing blinders to the full situation, but they're blinders of fear for the kid's safety.
