For those of you asking about the chorus, allow me to explain. The origins of choir date as far back as Ancient Greece and the Medieval era. Greek choirs sang their parts during dramas and tragedies, and the most familiar form of choir you might be familiar with is the Gregorian chant, commonly used in the Roman Catholic church. We wanted to create something similar to these, but with our own spin. Asgore and Toriel were the king and queen of the underground. Asgore's title song is "Bergentrückung", which loosely translates to "King in the Mountain" in German. Because of this, we decided it would best fit to go with German lyrics for Toriel's song. The lyrics "Halte dich fest an deiner Entschlossenheit" roughly translate to "Hold fast your Determination". This alludes to the same lyrics used in "Turn Around and Shake My Hand" in the actual musical. However, the lyrics are used ironically in this case, as the human is using their Determination for genocide as opposed to simply leaving the underground. Hopefully, this answers any questions you may have. Happy killing...you sickos.

Sry to say this but "Bergentrückung" doesn't translate to "King in the Mountain". "King in the Mountain" would be "König im Berg". Entrückung translates to Rapture. So Bergentrückung would be Mountainrapture.

Yeah, I love how her demeanor does a complete 180 the moment the human strikes her. She just knows from how powerful their attack is that they've been slaughtering the monsters in the Ruins, her home, for EXP. And they did that after she promised to take care of them in that same home. It abruptly shifts her perspective on why and how she opposes Asgore and focuses her efforts on humans instead of monsters. It's not about protecting humans; it's about preventing violence. It's all reflected beautifully in this song.

At the start of the song, Toriel purely blames herself for not being able to protect you or not being able to keep you from falling into insanity. But as the song continues, Toriel recognizes what you are more and more, and slowly starts to absolve herself by placing the blame for the bloodshed squarely on where it belongs. To go into specifics, I think the thing I find most heartbreaking in the lyrics is how she refers to them as "child of man", and no longer calls them "my child". It goes to show how she believed in the innocence of children and how they can be genuinely good people if raised right. But now she is dying at this child's hands, and she realizes that humanity hasn't changed their opinion of monsters since the war. She might even believe the humans purposefully sent their most powerful youth to get rid of the monsters, or terminate them. Seeing the name of the video, she might have been thinking of a pun in the back of her mind, trying to grasp some sort of happy memory in her final breaths, but it was drowning in all of her other dark memories. This really is remarkable. The broken feeling inside can't be described in words.

@@FredbearFazBonnie actually I think it has something to do with how you act, and what you're holding. Example: you're holding the toy knife you found in the ruins. Sure it's a toy, but it has to be covered in dust, and/or blood, from toriel. When sans tells you to hide behind the lamp, you stand there not doing a thing as if he told you to "look natural." You are probably covered in dust from killing all the monsters in the ruins as well, which is a pretty good indicator that you may have killed some people. But this is just a theory. Yours is just as plausible. There are more examples in the beginning bit but I dont want to make a really long comment that would take an hour to completely read. And it is speculation on how sans actually knows that you are doing genocide. But this could be one of the few ways he knows.

I honestly found this song almost as intense as Megalovania. Although it doesn’t have much fighting it has so much emotion that it is almost equal to it. Toriel’s death already makes me sad but hearing it in song just makes it all the more emotional. Just listening to it makes me think of all the monsters who are killed in the ruins. That’s pretty emotional for me, as I think the ruin monsters are pretty cool and memorable. So yeah. Hearing the pain, disgust, and encouragement in Toriel’s voice basically describes her death. She cares about you but knows that your determination will be the death of all monsters. And the chorus is nice but haunting. Because I read the comment that said it means “hold on to your determination” or something like that, it’s like the player encouraging Frisk and even Chara to kill the ones that they cared about. After all we’re in control of the game. All in all this song was great.

Yeah, but most people want steel to do it. His voice IS amazing for Sans. Plus, a lot of people in that comment section said his voice got too shaky and overall obnoxious. I don't think that, but eh. Sans was literally going crazy at that point. His dream of love was gone for some reason, and when Papyrus and so many other monsters were gone, he knew it was you. Then all of Papyrus' friends were gone, Undyne, the dogs... That's why I like how shaky his voice is.

Exactly. It's even worse when you realize Sans knows about the resets, but doesn't remember them. This means that he doesn't even remember what it feels like to lose his friends. So every time you kill Papyrus and Toriel and monsters close to him; he's reliving it and he KNOWS he's lost them before and has felt this exact same way, but he can't even grow to be desensitized to it because he can't remember it. Basically, the shaky voice is pretty justified.

Okay. So. I've been mulling over my feelings for this song all day. And I still quite figure out exactly what I want to say even after listening to it so much. But whelp, here goes nothing. The heartache at the beginning is an A+ fake out. I wonder how many people expected some variation on Heartache here instead of Determination. Speaking of, that's one thing I wanna applaud, choosing a song that isn't necessarily expected, and thus just adding more covers to the pool. The pun in the title is just another point in it's favor. The arrangement was beautiful, and the soft piano with it's growing energy coinciding with Toriel's emotions was perfect. The delivery of this song is just breathtaking, Lore. You've always been particularly good at expressing Toriel's emotional state. The lost airy, breathy. gasping voice in the beginning, to when her voice starts hitching, like a lump gets caught in her throat, and then leading into the more energetic choral accompaniment which eventually leads to anger and utter contempt. I especially get stuck on the way you spit out the "with your bold determination." The force and anger there just keeps hitting me. The entire rollarcoaster is especially powerful because of every other componant. The anger is made more powerful by the colder, sharper enunciated beginning parts, the softer trailing off and gasps in the end have a feeling of hollow numbness after the surge of anger. I don't know. The entire thing is just *ow* I especially like (not like like but think it's appropriate and well done? like is a strange term here) that the final gasp is timed with the heart shattering. Shy, you outdid yourself with the art. Toriel looks so shocked and broken. The linework looks *really* clean, and the colors and shading, especially in the profile view is super pretty. Speaking of that one, the return of the monster ghosts was a nice continuity thread, floating softly in the background, appropriately as the chorus comes in.. This isn't art, but the decision to have the chorus in german was really neat. And the entire backing part there feels very heavy. ...and whoever made the decision to include a sepia toned version of the musical's art here, showing what could have, would have been had we left well enough alone... that was mean. Very mean. We did ask for this, and you're gonna keep reminding us of it. Which fits oddly well with the geno run in the first place. I know someone who purposefully did it first, and they were utterly lost without the context of having the emotional connection of the first run. This geno run wouldn't be as painful if we didn't know frisk was happy. ...just...well played. Looking forward to next sunday. Tempted to go back and relisten to the scratches...but it's probably for the best that I don't.

I love the line “You are no better than them/him” I feel like Tori is blaming not only Asgore, the royal guards and the humans. She has so much anger and sadness built up against them. Asgore killed the kids she wanted to protect, the guards follow him blindly and the human killed her children. Just in her words “do you really hate me that much?” She thinks all the children she’s sent away hated her and that this one hated her so much to kill her. Then to damn their determination feels like it’s not only to Frisk but to everyone who has caused her grief. A kind and caring woman wishes nothing but damnation for those she seems worthy of it. This is one reason I like how this channel has treated Undertale .They understand it .They respect the work .One of the many reasons I hate Megalovania ( Besides the obvious ) and hate all the idiotic children and man-children who asked for it ( Even in the videos about the passing of a member of the cast ) : the Genocide Route and anything connected to it does not deserve the level of attention it gets . The Pacifist Route in Undertale is an actual story .It is a story filled with very real feeling and nigh living characters in a world established and the conflict is resolved through Mercy .That is why Undertale is important .It is a reflection on Compassion , Forgiveness , Empathy and Mercy and any good ending can only come by channeling the best conceivable , God-given attributes of the Human Soul .It is a story that deserves to be told and felt and it touches the depths of the Human Heart to no end .It deserves its popularity and more . The Genocide Run is not a story .It is just a parody of a story in which all characters are murdered and brutalized out of the subhuman cruelty and sadism of some one who went out of their way to cause a Genocide because they were bored and wanted to see more or wanted a challenged or just the satisfaction of taking the Life of an Innocent with loved ones .Repeatedly given chances to repent and go back , offered incredible Mercy , even after such Evil and treachary .All thrown away for a cheap shot and kill .And while the death of Sans is very tasty , the degree of Evil reached by the protagonist leads to even the most perverse character in the game begging for his Life (Recovering his child-like aspects , a reminder of who they were and what we kill) and perhaps even another innocent child being corrupted , until the world can no longer stand your Evil and tears apart from it . The Genocide Run is not a story .It is a cautinary expirience at most .No development , no character , no learning , no growth , no nothing .Only Death and endless Evil without motive or explanation other than the suffering and killing of the Innocent .It is not only not a story , it simply does not deserve to be told . And the edgy obsession that some of the fanbase had and has ( Even now ) with it is equivalent to Animal Farm being banned on the United States for being Pro-Communist . So the fact that Man on the Internet refused to do Genocide Musical , wether they understood the weight of all this or not , is quite laudable .Kudos to you ans your artistic talent , people .
