Also, if you spare everyone in the Ruins, and then start killing everyone at the Snowdin, there will be a lot more enemies. But you can't do a genocide, because there so much of them, that the rooms is just being empty, but not everyone died.

Also when you spare ONLY Dalv, his dialogue makes it clear that you sparing him is a great act of cruelty since now he's forced to stay lonely in the runes, so it's not really an act of kindness at that point (and fits into your runs theme :P)

I think the pacifist route counterpart to this is if you fight Martlet until she flees, but don't hurt anyone else. Martlet doesn't die, so it still counts as pacifist. Also, if you get the Dunes kill counter to the point that Enemy Retreating plays, and then spare El Bailador, Enemy Retreating will continue to play in random encounters in the Dunes, but it won't slow down even if you continue killing monsters, because you're not changing the Dunes kill counter any more.

I mean, it makes sense because UTY "genocide" was never really a genocide, most of the underground stays alive as you kill only those who end up on your path, while in undertale you end the whole world So being able to leave someone alive makes sense

Dalv being left in the ruins completely alone is probably a worse fate than death so this is just a slightly more Evil genocide run (especially since you'll talk to monsters and see that they aren't that bad making starting to kill them again much worse)

I think the reason you can recover your genocide run in this game canonically is due to Clover intentions Unlike Frisk when they go all genocide Clover doesn’t want to kill monsters for the sake of doing it and to be evil he’s doing it to free the human souls and avenge them, so the genocide rule in this game is more of a vengeance route then anything you can definitely tell since Clover to a degree is playing by some monsters rules

Decided to fact-check this, it is factual. Extra: I toppled Trihecta and then killed Tri, Hec yelled "NO", and then I killed Hec and Ta said "Please, no". I want to know Tri's special dialogue for Hec and/or Ta dying, because I just know it's there (and Hec and Ta looked damaged despite having full HP after Tri died)
