Can we appreciate the naming of this track? A Mother's Love. There's the obvious meaning of her actions being done out of lover for Chujin and Kanako, but also Love. As in, LV. Finding it easier to hurt. Ceroba trying to kill a LV1 Clover who spent the entire time going out of their way to help people, even though they jumped into the Underground to rescue the lost humans from monsterkind. Attacking Clover like that would really require some LV.

Ceroba's character design is genius. Y'see, characters like Star and the game at large are heavily influenced by American cowboys, which are heavily associated with the west, meanwhile Ceroba and her family are all traditional Japanese, which is heavily associated with the _east._ Don't you see? I consider Ceroba as the best antagonist that devs could ever made. When I played the game I thought that ASGORE would be the final boss (I think i am not alone at this). I mean it makes sense, our motives goes directly against ASGORE'S. Same can be said about our means of JUSTICE: -We (as Clover on pacifist) judging people only by they actions and personal characteristics (same way Martlet does). -ASGORE on the other hand declares war gainst all humans (same they we do on genocide but less extreme) So we have perfect conflict here. True JUSTICE VS twisted and radical JUSTICE. But what a genius surprise it was to fight Ceroba. The thing is, she and ASGORE share this twisted idea of JUSTICE. They both will do anything to achieve their goals (Also this two share: tragic backstory, deep regrets about their actions, being separated from their lover, fire magic and really cool songs) So by fighting her we proving very same thing that we would prove by fighting ASGORE: JUSTICE and Mercy can't be separated. Or atleast that is what happens if we spare Ceroba. After all she made a lot of mistakes that directly hurt others. So being pacifist here is really justified? I believe that by killing her we do not punish Ceroba in any way. But by sparing we force her to face her mistakes and change for good, which is way harder then just dying. That's why we don't need to face ASGORE after a full pacifist run. We already proved our point, no need to do it again. But by killing Ceroba we don't actually prove anything. Clover was not able to move past his own "good and bad" believes. Thats why he's so pissed at ASGORE after seeing the souls. On the false pacifist run we lose to ASGORE not because we were weaker , but because his believes were stronger. Clover couldn't achieve true JUSTUCE that's why he lost on false pacifist run. Soooooooo....that is why Ceroba - perfect antagonist for a pacifist run)

I'm kinda cheesing this by relating it to One Piece, but Clover's Justice in the True Pacifist run is Kind Justice. Whereas in Asgore, Ceroba or False Pacifist it's Absolute Justice. Clover knows that what's going on here is wrong. Killing humans, killing monsters, their imprisonment. So instead of continuing to kill and the cycle, he does the truly just thing. Offer his soul to help his friends escape. To end the hatred between humans and Monsters. And that's why I love True Pacifist, and why sparing Ceroba isn't the same as sparing Flowey. It isn't about being determined to do the right thing despite what they've done, it's about true and pure justice, for all.

Not gonna lie. The start of phase 4, with the Hopes and Dreams motif kicking in and the scream sound effect, gave me the same feeling I had during the final Jenova phase in FF7 Remake. Very few games have hit me with that level of "its time to do this" feeling, and I can honestly say this is the first fangame to ever manage it for me.

Saying that this track has "hopes and dreams" leitmotif in it is like saying "I love YOUR BEST NIGHTMARE, it has hopes and dreams in it". "Once upon a time" leitmotif would be more accurate. Since it is the main leitmotif of UNDERTALE, so many tracks (including hopes and dreams) have it. And it is the leitmotif that this song uses.

Man. All of UT:Y is a fantastic work but this is actually just like... Bewildering. Ceroba's and the whole Ketsukane story, the Steamworks into the Ketsukane estate into Hotland and New Home and the confrontation with her. I think that particular aspect of the game straight up rivals UT itself, and this song feels like it encapsulates that. Y'all really just cooked out of your minds for it. Everyone talks about the killer opening of phase 3. While Hopes and Dreams coming in on the guitar is absolutely AWESOME, I think my favorite part of the song (or at least the most interesting imo) is what comes right after that. Just Ceroba's leitmotif, played in the same gentler piano as the intro of the song and then repeated again with- for lack of a better way to explain- instrumentation that makes it sound like the song itself is crying. We go from the most aggressive and in your face piece of the song to the most vulnerable, desperate sounding, musically showing how Ceroba masks (heh) her emotions throughout the fight using her attempts to kill you. The music itself shows us that this is a front for all that pain inside just as much as her story does. Just like many other people suffering horribly, it can and does cause her to lash out, with cracks of the sorrow beneath showing through if you know where to look. It's absolutely BRILLIANT, I feel. ...I struggled on the wording in places but I hope I have a point, lol

The original cast of characters in Undertale were charming and lovable. It's part of why it's one of my favorite games of all time. But Yellow somehow made me love their characters even more. I felt so much more attached to these characters by the end of the game despite it feeling as though less time had passed. They were all just so easy to attach to, relate to, give your heart to. I can't even listen to this track without getting all teary eyed again thinking about it all. Haven't had a game hit me this hard since Undertale. Heck, I think Yellow hit harder.

I love the fact that Ceroba is just a side character in the neutral route. Because Clover killed some monsters and isn't a truly kind soul, he has no use in Chujin's legacy. This melody is so well arranged and so story behind Ceroba is such a complicated one. It makes me feel like I'm doing an FF14 boss fight. At first, I really hope there's an ending you could stay with Martlet because she's such a cute lil'chicken even better than Papyrus but here we have Ceroba bearing sorrowness for years just waiting for a chance for salvation. Who understands you; protects you; respects and cares about you and will use you to fulfill her great plan, even she doesn't want to do this but she's gone too far to give up. During any scene about Ceroba there's always a rhythm that is a remix or redesign of ''Kanako". When I reach that part I just can't forget what she had been through.
