My side gig of caregiving turned f/t. It was more lucrative than my other job due to being paid to sleep. I make a thousand dollars a week working one 48 hr shift. My background is in Mental Health so my client doesn't need hands on care, she has behavior issues so they burned through 3 other caregivers but I can handle her. I don't enjoy this but at 56, I am able to save for retirement

Coles here has a rewards card that you can earn points get towards 10 dollars off your next shop but they also have surveys. I do one survey a day and this month I have got enough points for 30 dollars to spend in the store. I know I am not getting paid but I'm getting free food so to speak. It's what I do to cover my food bill

Work in produce at a grocery. Cutting, putting things out on shelves, cleanup a few hours daily. Use reward points for extra food items there and get an employee discount. Not eady work, but helps.

The old side gigs/ hustles are now survival hustle, it’s not always extra it’s necessary to make ends meet, I’m a substitute at a local school, it helps.. if you have food insecurity you can work jobs in the cafeteria and they do offer a free meal while working. I can pick and choose the days I work by what is offered. It’s is something to be consider.😊

I forgot one. I make dinner for a friend and she pays me a small fee. (This depends on the health regulations where you live, of course). If you make food for 4 people a week, at 25 bucks a pop, it's 100 bucks. Is it the most? No. But, I stay home, so I am cooking dinner anyway for my own family.

You know what - this is a great one! My father lives with us (he’s in his 70’s) and has a former coworker who’s side-gig is canning and making meat pies to sell. Since my husband and I are a one-income, homeschooling family, WE cannot afford this. But my father has supported her side-gig for years, and he will come home with jams, pickles, pickled beats, cowboy candy, dilly beans, salsa, meat pies, salmon pies, turkey pot pies, etc. This is something so kind he does for our family. Each time he goes to see her (maybe 4x/year) he spends a couple hundred dollars! And she has over a dozen customers! Right now we have a stocked pantry and about 8 dinner pies in the freezer. What a great side-gig!

At work more things are being required to be done online which a lot of us aren't used to so I help some of my coworkers with unemployment, complete the food handlers course, etc. There are older coworkers who have never touched a computer or smart phone so I help them go online and complete their forms,etc. I don't charge but they insist on paying me like $5, $10. I received a watermelon & some snacks once, lol. It's not a lot but so far I've made about $70 this year and put it towards my property tax fund. I'm almost there!

I tried a bunch of side gigs like mystery shopping, transcription, proofreading, copywriting, blogging, surveys, personal tasks, stock photography, etc...most turned out to be not worth the time or pennies earned. Finally, I found online reselling. Once you list your items, it's practically passive income. Now I earn more than I did working for someone else, set my own schedule and spend just a few hours packing and shipping orders twice a week. On average, I earn 10X what I paid for the items I sell.

Five years ago, my husband and I got married. We had about 40 guests, and kept the budget at $1,300 for it all (catering was BBQ, with BYO drinks). It was so lovely. A former colleague and friend offered to make our wedding cake for us as her gift, and we gladly accepted! Of course a few years later she made a move on my husband👀(yikes) and we have broke all contact with her... but hey - if you have a skill like this it could be a win-win.

5:43 Question regarding selling items online for others: How do you determine the base commission rate?
@UndertheMedian2 ай бұрын
We went with 10-20%. Part of what you need to take into consideration is what we call, "The pain in the butt factor". How much time will it take you to clean up, photograph, etc. Also, we did this strictly with friend who we knew would pay us once the item was sold. If you are going to do with with others, you need a standard contract with a waiver of responsibility if the item gets damaged or broken.

I tried pet sitting but I now regret it. The dog bit me and chased our cat to the point we had to keep her hidden in my daughter's bedroom. And the pay just wasn't worth it. My daughter started on eBay, she's had some success but it's slow. Occasionally I take items to our thrift store and they sell it for you and you receive 40% of the sale but it's a thrift store so you're not going to make much. I want to craft but I don't think I'm crafty 😅😅

@lesliekanengiser84822 ай бұрын
TV's are so cheap now. You can buy a brand new one for 99 dollars. (Even cheaper depending on brand/size). I'd really think it would be cheaper than finding the screen and replacing it. Although, I'm not an expert. Especially newer televisions. They don't even make replacement parts sometimes

My husband used to donate for extras.... be sure you are well hydrated and eating well. If you start to notice yourself tending to be fatigued, or seeming to be unwell... colds, etc, back off on the frequency of donations. Otherwise, I regularly recommend it to people as a good way to bring in some extra cash.

@tamibrantley79862 ай бұрын
I did it years ago, it covered my car payment until I got enough raise to fill the need. I went every week twice a week for 9 months but I started I having low iron and being turned away part of the time. If I were doing it today I would donate twice a week for a month to get the bonus and then take the next month off to allow your body to recuperate. I have always said it was the easiest money I ever made.
@dawncurtis5832 ай бұрын
It is worth it. The better hydrated you are the quicker the donation will be. I can’t remember which it is but your iron or protein needs to be high enough or you can get deferred from donating for a period of time.
@MinnesotaCabin62 ай бұрын
I tried it, but kept getting light-headed, no matter what I ate prior to donating. Fainted twice. Pay attention to how you feel thru the whole process. Don't leave the facility until you have eaten a snack. My son had no trouble when he donated.
