One of the best tips I’ve heard about hole saws- do everything you did by drilling the hole, connect the hole saw to the bit, then run the bit counter clockwise until it scores the cutting surface, put it into clockwise motion to cut. Avoids the chance of skipping. Hope this helps someone!

I just used this technique. Took me 45 minutes after gathering supplies and tools! Thank you for sharing this video!

I’m working on a cover cap for covering the gap between the fender cut and the gap in-between to the fender liner to capture and close all of that off neatly and make it look like it’s organically integrate. I’m also going to include either holes for capture pins or screws. Not sure which yet.

@methadras any videos on what you came up with. I saw on pic where someone fabbed it out of thin aluminum, painted it black, used plastic fender pushin to attach. What I could not figure out is how they attached to the bumper near the fog light

I’m getting a Tacoma in a few weeks and I really like this mod. I’ve watched some videos of people doing this and the cuts on the curve and the fenders are terrible. Your video and explanation is by far one of the best!

Thank you! I know I ramble a bit but I just wanted to make sure I covered all the questions that I had going into this project. With the right tools, it’s super easy, good luck on your viper cut!

Great video ! I think Im going to do this one myself. Good on you for leaving a lot of that fender well. The battery is right above that area. Luckily , im pretty good with hand tools also and this isnt much of a hassle considering the benefits.

With all the mods out there, I'm really surprised there's not an aftermarket wheel well made for the 3rd gen viper cut.
@timstover4142 жыл бұрын
exactly, like just make a straight cut and rivet or bolt a molded piece of plastic to the existing wheel well and then to the existing portion of the bumper that is left. The kit could include a couple of templates to layout the cut.

Awesome Video’ Thanks for sharing! Where did you buy the weather striping?
I don't know why no one I've seen hasn't used a reciprocating jig saw with alot of masking tape to mark and protect the paint. You can cut around curves and you can get blades specially for cutting plastic.

Is this mod just for looks?. Or does it help with offroading ?
@Rungunseattacos Жыл бұрын
Little of both. Personally, I love the way it looks. But it’s also to help with clearance issues when running large tires. I’m running 33” tires and was rubbing a little on the front. After the viper cut, no more rubbing.

Can a auto body shop do this type of modification properly? Do you know or anyone else?
@Rungunseattacos2 жыл бұрын
We have one local shop that will do it because they’re really big on modding Tacomas but most shops won’t do it.

I will stay factory original look not into butchering up a brand new vehicle that costs thousands & thousands dollars only to make it look like a pile of junk because people just want to get bigger wheels & tires on makes no sense & will reduce by far the value of the truck for resale.

This seems pretty dumb. I don’t see any practical reason for hacking into your Tacoma. Here is an idea, just don’t.
@Rungunseattacos Жыл бұрын
I have a better idea, just let people be happy and do the shit they want with the money they spent. I bought the truck, not you. Go enjoy your things the way you want and I’ll enjoy mine how I see fit 🤙🏻
