I think I would have tried a heat gun before cutting.

You should of been able to adjust the caster via the lower control arm to get the necessary clearance from the pinch welds. I believe stock it is set at 2.4 degrees and you can move it to about 4.5 degrees (but 3.5 you should be good) which results in the wheel moving a 1/2" forward.

you really don't need to do all this and leave a bunch of exposed metal, as well as the back of your headlights being wide open. I run a 285/75r16 at4w on a 16x8-25mm scs f5 on a stock 23 pro. Trim the edge of the front bumper, move the mount bolt back to the hole you cut off. Heat and mold the front wheel well liner back 3 inches and the fronts done. Rear has a bmc and pinch weld flattened kept the wheel well liner just molded it tight to the pinch weld. 3 degrees of caster gained another half a inch at the rear. I have custom made mudflaps cut the metal/bottom of the fender flare at an angle drilled a new hole further back to mount the bottom of the flare and my L bracket for the mudflaps. The exposed metal was painted then coated in cosmoline then the wheel liner plus the mudflap cover it. Mudflap is molded to match the bmc. No exposed metal anywhere and tonnes of clearance. All these just lift it people don't seem to understand a coilover lift doesn't help with clearance at full bump, a spacer lift does but they introduce a whole other pile of issues. The way you did it is the fast and dirty way, living in Canada I'm anal about exposed metal in winter. Not necessarily anything wrong with how you did it it's your truck but there a much cleaner ways.

I’m in Hawai’i and get salty air everyday or salty sand when I off road on the beach. I am like you and don’t want any exposed/unpainted/untreated metal.

First, your way of checking clearance is the best so far on KZbin. I had a question tho, why cut so high on the plastic? I want to do the same, get as much clearance that does t rely on a lift. Thanks! 🤙🏼
@FloGarage6 ай бұрын
The only reason I cut so high is because the mounting clips are there. I didn’t want part of liner hanging down and possibly get blown around by driving on the freeway

OR……. Put on 255/85 R16’s
@JamesReedy4 ай бұрын
This is what I’m considering, it’s only 10mm narrower than my 265/75/R16 and honestly with 0 offset wheels they poke out past the fender a bit and throw shit. It looks nice, but pizza cutters, lift, SPC upper control arms I’m hoping a 255/85/R16 could be run without cutting anything at all? Also wish there were more 255/85/R16 options. No K02 or K03’s iirc.
@J.Young80819 күн бұрын
@@JamesReedyyou don’t need the lift to fit the pizza cutters as there are several videos showing SR5’s fitting 255/85R16 sized tires without a lift. They might have had to trim, TRD OR may not need. I am going to put 255/85R16 on some nice light TE37T’s in 0 or -10. Just have to figure out what color will go with black and khaki/Sandy Taupe (LC 79 color).
@JamesReedy19 күн бұрын
@ my buddy has TE37’s on his blue Taco, looks nice. I ended up lifting 2” with 6112’s and B8 5160’s, swapped UCA’s to SPC, did u-bolt flip (Accutune) with right sized bumpstops etc. Rides real nice…

@@piraltas The point is doing this is just stupid. The people that do this are somehow too cheap or lazy to actually run a proper lift.
