They aren't all named Sans, like only an actual AU Sans is a Sans but for some reason people just call them that after their nicknames. Nightmare you see isn't his real name, it's just the people of this worlds best interpretation of his name therefore making it his nickname.

Second, yes, Dream and Nightmare aren't the classic AU Sans, they are clones of Underswap Sans with positive/negative emotions filled into them, but you cannonly still refer to them as a 'Sans', even though they are a bit different. And yes, it's cannon, on Dream's literal design there is a 'DS' which stands for Dream Sans. Nightmare's says 'NM' for Nightmare, but he's still a Sans, because it wouldn't make sense for Dream to be one but Nightmare not-

Besides, you are not talking about cannon Error here, that's Alaina's Error she used for her own universe and pretty much changed his whole backstory and personality, too, tbh. The cannon Error by LoverOfPiggies isn't just a Sans, he IS Sans lmao Error Sans was cannonly created by a genocide timeline going the route of the Aftertale AU, in whose bad ending Geno aka Sans gets trapped in the anti-void and becomes Error.

If it was to be a game then it wouldn't be the same system from undertale nor deltarune at all, since the perspective changes a lot, there would be a lot of characters that we would play as through the game. However it doesn't fit at all the whole concept of literally control the character as a puppet. So yeah the game system would be really different but that doesn't mean an underverse game would be trash

The only perspective that fits the undertale one is X!Gaster (or maybe even Chara), since he can overwrite at his will his verse and characters, but that would mean the developer will have to find a way to put the Xtale lore into the game because both of them are related
