+1000 on memory is a lot. Keep in mind that high-end GPUs use ECC memory, so errors will occur but it corrects them - which leads to lower performance. +500 seems to be a go-to minimum, and everything after that is card dependant. So, be careful with that.

That’s definitely true! In my experience most 3080s can handle +1000 with no correction setting in, but a bit further testing is definitely required and +500 would definitely work for literally everybody!

Hey man just wanted to say thanks for making this really easy to understand along with giving us a base guideline. So far dropped 10+ degrees on Doom eternal and is running like a champ on my 4k monitors. I think it would be nice to also add to the video a custom fan curve to add on the temp cooldown savings. Managed to run mine 1800mhz on 800mv and it's really efficient. By sacrificing 3.5% performance vs stock, it brought power consumption down from 330W to about 240W and it barely goes to 70-ish C.

the most likely cause for these temps is improper thermal interface. Wrong pads thickness. Dried or cheap thermal paste.

Those are all things you should check but the Zotac cards simply run at high temps and undervolting always helps and is always a good thing

I was so worried about temps on my evga 3080 so I tried the 1800 to 850 Mv and my temps went from 82 C to 68 C which I couldn't believe at first so I restarted my afterburner and riva tuner just to make sure it was giving me correct temps. Also, I didn't feel any performance drops while playing and it actually felt more consistent than before so I guess its very minmum and worth it! ❤

Thank you for quick and easy guide for undervolting my Asus TUF 3080 OC V2 10GB LHR... i'm using 1800Mhz on 850mV with +500Mhz memory overclock, everything is stable, max temp i had was 62C on Superposition Benchmark, max GPU power draw was 275W, which is almost 50W less then it used to consume and since i have only 650W 80+gold PSU this helps alot...

After completing 800-1800mV +500 memory, from 83 degrees gpu and 95 degrees memory fan speed 85% reduced to 73 degrees gpu and 85 degrees memory fan speed 70%, 32xW down to 25xW.

The second one (only undervolt without memory overclock) is really good. Drops temps by 10°C and the difference in performance isn't noticeable in games at all.

I dont get nvidia pushing its cards over 1000mv when it can perform much as the same around 900mv

Facts. The reason is of course that the bottom 0.01% of cards are not capable of handling these clocks at 900mV, so Nvidia would have to scap these instead of selling them. When you sell millions of cards, 0.01% is a ton of revenue, so they up the voltage in each card to assure that even the worst binned will work and can be sold!

It is safe, since you are giving the card LESS voltage than default you cannot damage the circuits. The only issue is finding stability.

holy shit I didnt expect it to work that well Gigabyte 3080 Gaming OC 10GB (LHR) + i5-13400f I couldnt increase power limit on Afterburner so I didnt touch it. Did exactly the same thing, memory set to +1000 Final Fantasy 16, 1440p all medium on DLSS quality I used to get 40-ish fps in heavy hub areas. I loaded the game after applying the clock and its not holding a stable 70+ fps in the same area, at 65°C. Maybe DLSS 3.0 needs that extra mem boost? Idk but I've got nothing but praise lol

Unfortunaly , GPU frequency don"t give so much FPS. It's better to reduce Frequency for gain 100watt. i have reduce my frequency to 1725mhz for gain 100watt and lose 2-3 FPS. My card can uo to 2100 mhz, but i gain nothing for lot of more energy burned.

You've undervolted/capped the top end of your curve; but you've overvolted the vast majority of the rest. Your curve for 900mV is undervolted. Everything under 900mV you have overvolted. The whole curve is 200MHz slower below 900mV; this means that any given clock is running at the Voltage of the default curve which was 200MHz faster. Also, boosting mem clock reduces performance. Don't believe me? Do a 3DMark benchmark. The card regulates itself and clocks it can't sustain result in even lower performance.

Yes, absolutely! It's all about the voltage points! I will do a dedicated video in the future for sure, but to give you an example of what an UV/OC profile would be, it would be something like 150Mhz more than standard clock with around 50mV less than standard voltage. Something like 1000mV and 2000/2050Mhz on a 3080!

I need some help. I have a 3080 tuf 12gb. The card normally is around 345w. When undervolting it's about 30w difference. However, at stock it's around 1935mhz 1081mv. Im undervolting it to 1905mhz 843mv. How come I'm seeing 30w less? Shouldn't i be getting 50+W less?

Just one question. Why are you lowering the whole curve? Because it seems that you are overvolting your card on lower frequencies. On the default curve 800mV ran at around 1500mhz, but on your undervolted curve it sat around 1300mhz, which is clearly an overvolt.

Problem with these cards is memory temp not core.if you have core temp problems change paste.

After following the steps and clicking apply; my GPU fan went absolutely crazy, never heard or felt it work that hard. Temp also started climbing very quickly since changing the power limit changed the temp limit from 85 to 90? I think it hit 88 before I reset to previous settings and closed Heaven. Was something wrong here, I kind of assumed when selecting apply the GPU would be quieter and temp would start dropping? Edit: I reset and re-tried again, this time waiting to open Heaven until settings were applied. I also saw a comment below about using +500 memory instead of +1000. When applying and running heaven, GPU only hit 78 when previously it was mid 80's. I guess it's working and i'll try running COD now.

@@ImWateringPSUs I did, thank you! The only difference was I went with the +500 memory, i'm not sure if that was the outlier for the GPU fan going top speed lol, but it's working great now! Ran WZ2 for a few hours last night and was chilling around 75-76 and over 100 FPS on this 38" monitor. Previously the 3080 gpu would fluctuate between 80 and 82. Thank you for the video and it's definitely working!

Hey bro so i dont understand one thing, why are we reducing the base frequencies of card at the beginning? From (700mV-850mV)... why are we giving it less mhz at the beginning instead of more or same mhz? Isnt this overvolting? By running less mhz than stock on the same voltage?

It’s just a gimmick to flatten it quick, we lower the curve initially and raise it later!

Nothing to worry about, it means your card is a bit unlucky. Try it this way: -Leave the memory at stock -Unlock the power limit -Set it to 900mV and 1800Mhz!

I found my RTX 3080's vram always go crazy (100°C even when I cap my game's FPS to 90), when I cancel the FPS cap, my PC can restart pretty constantly, I assume the reason is VRAM temp because my PC no longer restart after I controll the VRAM TEMP under 105°C. All I can do is to make my GPU Fans and Case fans' RPM higher

I don't see a temperature improvement after undervolt @875mV, 1935mhz.. My temperature will always hit 83C and then throttle the card. But by undervolting my FPS is improved.. however my high temperature isn't solved

I fear you really need to change the thermal paste on your card… you can temporarily fix it by setting it to 800mV and 1800Mhz with no memory offset, but you will eventually have to change the thermal paste

Buy EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB And something strange happens in 850 - 1800, in several games it works fine, but in AC Valhalla everything ultra in 1080P between 5 to 10 minutes the game freezes and the entire pc, for which I have to restart. In my previous graph, which was a 3070 colorfull, it could go down to 800 - 1800 and this did not happen. What can be?

Well different cards have different silicon quality, I’d say try 875 - 1800 and it should work! Also, maybe it’s the VRAM overclock that’s hindering you, so remove that too!

You can do it with the second profile too if you want a little extra performance! Giving it a memory clock increase is just to gain some extra performance, nothing else!
