Subscribed! I updated my bios today and it cleared my old settings, and I found that it was idling 53C (in the bios!). It is crazy that the default was 1.45V, I followed your guide to lower it to 1.025 + 40x, it now idled at 36C. The default settings were just insane... I opted to turn on eco mode as well, since I am not doing any heavy lifting on my PC these days, which got max temp of 60C when running cinebench 24 (10~15% performance drop, which is fine for me).

You should only do the -offset one only. Cause the others will just limit the cpu clock. Put 40x and all of your cores will just run 4ghz all the time. When on idle you will use more power. And when you want performance it won't go up then 4ghz neither. So in idle you will consume more and in load you won't get the benefit of 5900x.

My 5900x has always been running between 56-65 on idle and after trying both options that you gave I found the 1.025 at 40 was the best running at the great idle temp of 37 and maxing at 43. With the offset setting at 0.0750 it was still boosting up to 4.9 and getting similar temps to before the change. Thank you for the tips on how to properly undervolt. I originally thought 1.2 was undervolted till now.

I'm so glad my MB has profiles to have set ups to test. I've never undervolted before but also an Asus Motherboard and GPU 3060ti. I'm going to note down all the changes and report back. I've been peaking it up at 4.6ghz and never messed with the VDDR CPU Coltage clock. Any higher and i'll just reboot instantly. Do we actually get gains from this? Using a waterloop my temps are usually the 70's in gaming. 41 idle in a warmer 28c room. I'll need to at least save this for a mini atx build!

The whole 5000 series is seriously over powered you undervolt any of them but best I've seen was a 5600x over clocked to 4.9ghz insane I've got my 5900x still hitting 4.950ghz with a -0.14v but staying in the 50°cs during games and 60°c on heavier load benchmarks and some games lmao before was hitting 80°c on heavy loads now I don't even see 70°

I haven't touched those settings but I've set the curve optimizer to -30 for all cores. Stress tested for 1 hour for all cores and another test for per core tests. Seems to be stable and I've done a couple of hours of heavy gaming as well now :)

Guys i found out that having an amd system with amd graphics card having installed Adrenaline Software and Enabling Record Desktop or Region Capture or any capture settings on that your cpu will Idle at 1.3 volts all day with arround 5% cpu usage and by disabling that shit it goes to 1.1 volts with 0-1% usage. Temps went from 42-46 idling to 36-38 even 32.

That's why you use offset mode. It lets the system turbo boost at a lower voltage. Watch the end of the vid. Will be more unstable tho especially if your a fellow noob

When i go into the bios i dont have any of the settings that you get. Theres only a couple of things and a omen advanced settings but it dosent let me change any of the things that you did. My cpu on idle is around 60-70C but when gaming it hits 86C. This causes huge performance issues and i dont know what to do

You should try and check for a tutorial with your motherboard brand and model. Bios interface varies a lot with different brands. Hope you can find it.

Hi, thanks for the vid. I have the same CPU and i know its better to choose the core ratio per CCD. The first chiplet is always better then the second means the CCD0 is better then CCD1 so you can put more ratio on the CCD0 with the same voltage.

Yes. I have mine set to CCD0 x47.75 and CCD1 46.75 @1.3v I hit 24,400+ in cinebench while barely hitting 75c on air cooling. With PBO maxed out, and I do mean it was maxed curved, I only got 23,300 and hit 90c almost immediately. I also have my DIGI VRM set to level 3 120% 350 optimized. Performance optimizer is on. Spread spectrum is off. PBO is off.

if you wanna buy a 5900x to run it at 4000mhz you better buy another cpu as well, this advise is accurate for undervolt and extreme underperformance in which case why you buy a 5900x or later cpu in this matter, you should tune mannually the pbo edc tdc ppt , as well negative offset curve to all cores and then to let computer settle and possible to do the digi vrm negative offset to the voltage ,

Not true. PBO will use too much voltage to hit clock speeds and makes a LOT of heat. I had mine set exactly like you said and hit 90c in cinebench r23 right away. Now I have CCD0 x47.75 and CCD1 x46.75 @1.3v And I get over 1k better score in cinebench r23 without going over 75c. So I get a constant 4.781ghz clock without a ton of heat and better performance. PBO sucks and no one should be using it.

I did everything you said and I have a Ryzen 5900x on ASUS PRIME X-570 PRO motherboard. Its base speed is 3.7 and after doing only the beginning portion, it is now clocking 3.98 with a base speed of 4.0GHz I’m not very good with BIOS and use KZbin videos like yours to help. Your video did help get it to keep a steady clock rate of 3.98GHz and I just wonder if it’s safe to keep it like this or if it’s better just to set it up to get a goal of it’s actual Base speed of 3.7GHz I hope this makes sense and thank you for saving my CPU from going to the Mid 4’s to dang near 5.0GHz

I am on gigabyte x570 aurus elite v1 and 5900x cpu. For me would keep crashing even at 4000mhz no mater what cpu voltage I ve put in untill I changed CPU Vcore current protection to turbo. It is in advanced voltage settings then enter into cpu/vrm settings to find it. There is also an issue with gigabyte motherboards and CPU SOC voltage that I found on forum. People report that WHEA errors went away after lowering it to 1.025V from 1.2V. It makes me think all this is setup wrong by defoult on purpose so your CPU degrades and you have to invest into new latest and greatest AMD PC. PBO seems completly unecessary its like it was made just to fuck up your CPU overtime and piss you off with constant cpu fan ramping up and down.

@@ImWateringPSUs I had no problem with cpu and it has run on optimized defaults sence 2019 on 3600mhz ballistic ram. It run on xmp profile no problem. Your tutorial made me dig little further sence it made no sense to me why CPU wouldnt wont to run on lame 4000mhz all cores static.

Looks likeca manage tovfind it in my bios. Wow, Return to Moria which spiked my cpu to 80°C now droped to 50°C while playing. What's the deal? How is that possible? You can shortly explain, but CPUs should come with that settings right away

Its better to do what you say, changing core ratio is non sens since PBO does it very well, just undervolt your CPU and use Automode or Curve Optimized mode.

Depends on what you want. A 5900X running at 4.2 GHz on all cores will chew up most of the common tasks you throw at it. At least as a semi-casual user. Due to the undervolting, the 4.2 will be constant across all cores without dips because it has no temperature limitations, because it doesn't even get close to being too hot.

Hey, thanks for your videos! I undervolted my 5900x and my RTX 3090 thanks to your videos. I have a question related to this video: I tried both: x40/1.025v / 58-65ºC / Cinebench24 1015/81 (12.58x) x44/1.150v / 58-79ºC / Cinebench24 1088/88 (12.32x) Both worked fine but, is it possible that when the computer is idle or doing light tasks like watching youtube, it might be consuming too many watts? Maybe it's worth having two profiles, one for gaming/production and one for idle/low power?

Thank you for this video! I bought an AIO Pump and my R5 3600 was pretty chill with it, but then I got a R9 5900X and it looked like I wasn’t using a water cooler. But with your video my R9 dropped from 60~80°C with 90~95°C peaks, to 46°~56°C. I’m using the first settings.

i followed your guide but performance hit was noticeable on 40 and 1.025v for me so im trying out 44 and 1.150v now the performance seems great and no issues (so far). I will reply to my comment in a week or two to see if any crashes or problems. thank you for your help i was going to buy a new aio or get a different case because of how hot this cpu was running. i also just wanted to ask if having the core clock speed always set to 4400 mhz is bad for the cpu at all since on auto it would be fluctuating a lot and not going that high all the time..?

@@at002f6793 i ended up going back to default because some games just felt "off" could have been placebo but i could see the fps hit and it was messing with me, my pc is basically just a spaceheater atm (70-75 degrees during load) til i get a new aio i guess

I have the same CPU along with an Asus ROG Strix B550-A Gaming AM4 motherboard and a 240mm cooler, I will share my experience: I did Auto core voltage and offset -0.07500, but temps were between 90° 94° (heavy load), 70° and 80° (idle) lol. Even if I went with values (-0.1000), temps would decrease 3° to 5°, but the system was unstable. 44x core voltage 1.2 VDDCR. Pretty stable so far with temps around 60° - 65° (idle) and 75° - 85° (heavy load). I'm fully aware that I'm not using all of the cpu's capabilities, but such settings are ideal to my current needs, since I live in a hot place; I will definitely buy a better cooler later. 5900XT is just a 5900X with a higher boost clock and 8 additional threads. If you follow this guy's instructions for manual undervolting, you're good to test them out by running benchmarks, which will help you determine whether your system is stable or not. Some values may seem fine at first, but you will notice micro stutters from time to time and your system might shutdown during these tests (higher temps). As far as I know, your Corsair cooler should be fine, and the cpu can handle offset values with core voltage set to auto for balanced performance with great cooling. Interesting! I have a Ryzen 9 3900xt on a Asus x570 TUF Gaming Plus Wifi motherboard (BIOS 4408), running ram @3800 and FCLK at 1900. I left everything else stock, but very curious about this undervolting my CPU. I know this video is for the 5900x but would that CPU Core Ratio at 44 with a VDDCR CPU Voltage Override of 1.15000 (or 1.2000 if needed) still apply since its a Ryzen 9 as well?? Great video!

Don't always drop straight to what every one says. every CPU (and GPU chip) are different I have a 5900x and Im not able to go that low but still dropping to 1.3v from 1.44v dropped my temps significantly and it's able to clock higher more consistently

If you have a Asus Motherboard, there is a option to change from normal to performance in top right when u enter bios, that is gonna lock your ghz to 4.2 i have the same atm, and is running smooth. if you wanna try doing in manually just slide it back to normal or reset bios settings

So im a NZXT N7 B550 with a ryzen 5900x I cant find any of the settings in bios. There is a overclock tab and a advanced tab. In the OC tab i have a choice that is CPU fre and voltage its set to auto, If I put in manual i can change the voltage but no cpu ratio is found anywere to set. Gaaah im idle 60c using a EK 360mm aio and also tried with a new deepcool assain IV they hold the same temps but I would love to lower the temps but keeping the boost.

Minha placa mãe é a MaxSun b550m. Eu apenas baixei a tensão para 1.0025v e deixei todo o resto em auto. Inclusive o PBO em auto. Não passa de 55° em jogos e frequência bate em alguns núcleos 4950mhz. Está errado como fiz ? Apenas baixei a voltagem para 1.0025.

I undervolted with the curve thingy and uh, its really unstable unless i have it at like 6 firsr core and 8 rest, and im still getting 55c idle with 360mm aio now... but its fluctuating between 46 and 55
