Smooth follow up to first part. Your vids are always a treat, Matt!. Music silence on day 6 followed by quick pace of music in sync w/vid fast motion, a masterful touch.👍. Useful tripod advice. Cold hands, warm heart. Thought the “frogspawn” might have been evidence of the rare pigmy salmon; species known to scamper up a tree and spontaneously spawn when accosted by clever go-pro wielding naturalists.😁Truth was not as romantic. (I once had an epiphany - a dab of zink oxide cleared it up😁.) Brilliant use of smartphone cam remote app - connections can be finicky, but super tool for nature photographers willing to use them. Haven’t seen many YT hosts using such apps. Newt must have heard your exhortations. Spot on, eye in focus, image - real met challenge w/that narrow DofF lens. By all means please do a seasonal hide shoot. (You knew viewers would ask when prompted, didn’t you?) Hide critter housecleaning prudent preparation, I take it. Do any other ‘togs have dibs on the hide? (Parking meter inside?) Cheers!

Hiya Paul! Thank you so much for the in depth comment! I am chuffed you got so much out of this little video! Sorry the frogspawn in a tree answer was less romantic than first thought, though I would love to photograph that salmon... :D And I hope your epiphany clears up soon! I will get working on that hide photography video :D. But it is a secret hide so its only a handful of people that know where it is which I think makes it a bit special. You have the patience of a Saint 🙂👍 I haven't read through the other comments yet but was thinking about that blue colour shift you mentioned. Surely that's defraction of red green light from the water surface leaving only blue to pass through. Not sure. 😄 Also, was thinking that your DSLR shutter might disturb the newts with the mirror slap vibration travelling through the lens to the water? Not sure? 😄 I'm not much help at all. 😄 Great work as always. Really enjoyed that 👍 Cheers..... Steve.
@MattGouldphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, thanks Steve! Hmmm quite possibly, my knowledge isn't great on the subject, though if it was to do with the waters surface wouldnt that affect everything not just parts of the pool? And I thought the shutter would disturb them as well but it really doesn't. I was firing it quite freely and they weren't reacting at all :). Glad you enjoyed it though Steve! You comments are appreciated as always :)
@stevesvids3 жыл бұрын
@@MattGouldphotography hello 👋 Glad you sussed out the vibrations weren't disturbing them. Thats good. The part blue light thing.... hmmm My further thoughts on that are that perhaps the floating debris and foliage on the surface causes the water to contour. You know how water at the edge of a glass pulls up. Its never flat. Remembering you are photographing a very small area light passing through the contoured surface will defract differently, I suppose much like rainbow colours are sperated during a rainbow. We never question why is Blue part of the rainbow in its own space. Also.... the spawn spherical shape may strip the light colours apart also. Complex but interesting. In sure a bit of KZbin hunting will throw more light on the subject (no pun intended) 😄👍 Also.... if you've never seen a Heron predate and eat a Water Vole you can feel squeamish on my channel recentish upload. Its horrible..... but sadly nature at work. Have a great weekend. All the best..... Steve

Just fascinating. I am so gonna check some forest pools near me. Thanks Matt. Blue frogs spawn OK. 1. Because its only some it could be an object like a dog ball buried in frogs spawn in that part only. Or 2. Someone is using a particular type of rodent or squirrel killer. It's blue ... that blue specifically actually and slugs love it too. They do here. And the dye from that could be transmitting across through food chain. Or 3. Some contamination on your lens causing light refraction into the blue spectrum. Had you moved left it would be yellow or red etc. 4. Does the camera shine a blue LED at the front to show its working. Shining a blue light partially on the subject. 5. Internal illumination switch on 6. Blue fibre partially over the lens causing partial blueing. If so ... Nice bokeh effect 👌😂 7. Algae bloom growing in the rich medium of that section frogs spawn. It was laid first and subsequent frogs spawn hasn't had time to become contaminated. Quite often we get muddy brown spawn as sediment is sturred up and settles on it in puddles. 8. Something secreted something on it. I know cat urine on trousers turns bright purple when you wash them. It was the 80s, the cat went to the vets. It hated the car and cat transport pods weren't invented yet and I don't want to talk about it. Loved them trousers 🙄🤫 I'm out.
@MattGouldphotography3 жыл бұрын
Adam! Now, many of your options we had considered and so had put it down to something in the camera, however suggestion number 7 got me thinking. I am no expert but you are quite right about there being a possible difference between the time the frogspawn was laid and so there could be a small but just about noticeable accumulation of algae, just such a thing could also (in theory) grow on the surface of sticks and newt skin. I will keep my eyes and ears peeled for an expert but I think you may be on to something though I need evidence. Great call and thank you for watching as always :)
