Underworld are in a class of their own. Big festivals, small clubs, acoustic, uptempo, downtempo - the answer is yes.

This album empacks all the previous material in one. Smashing, utterly. This album will be a grand classic, up there with Beaucoup Fish. I actually cried listening to Black Poppies.

As the father of a young musician, absolutely bloody chapeau to you for giving these kids a shot at something like this. What a kind move

Oh for sure. With the reach and influence of Underworld, they could have lazily selected a cohort of very famous musicians. But giving such an incredible opportunity to the six youngsters was extrememly generous. I hope that it stays as a clearly-remembered highlight in their lives.
@JohnPreston8884 ай бұрын
Can I just emphasise that there are three primary elements to this superb track and video. - The foundation laid by the original composition having someone who can play a musical instrument, instead of merely pressing buttons on a sampler. - The translation of the Underworld original as an esquisite arrangement by Gus Nicholson (In the description. Only three or four commenters seemed to have noticed). - Everything about the sextet that played on this. From the relaxed, but not "Eilish" clothing, the modesty, the genuine talents, and for taking the trouble to learn how to play something such as a cello, or double-bass in a world where peer-pressure is often just to view and discuss the latest short video. . And there is the video itself: The setting, the single camera, the wonderful reveal of the bit-part actors sitting/standing and viewing the performance...

If I'm honest, I've not been a big Underworld fan (unlike most of the people leaving comments). In fact I'm a 64 yr old stuck-in-the-mud putz. That said. I LOVE the original Black Poppy and this "unplugged" version just takes it to a whole new previously unimaginable (at least by me) level. This is so beautiful and should be a classical concert staple. Great work Underworld. Fantastic arrangement. Keep up the your creative explorations. You've got a new convert. 💞🥰👏👏👏👏

I too am 64 years old but was a massive Underworld fan (I've got 24 of the now 73 different versions of Born Slippy!) following their progression until the Barking album. I've bought various remixes and singles since then but sadly they seemed to have run out of decent ideas after that album. I quite like this video though.

No, no, no. I think that it strangles music when unrelated visual images become fixed in the mind. There are plenty of extremely talented composers who can watch a scene and write appropriate music to fit. Visualisers are just about ok, but shoe-horning a story to fit the music is a sad direction in which to go.
